I am pleased with DHC and the job they did painting some rooms in my home. They patched some holes left from moving some light fixtures. They were very punctual and stayed late a few days to get the job finished. I would recommend their services.

Pro Paint Utah did a phenomenal job painting our home. We had board and batten installed and had planned to paint it ourselves, but didn't realize what a big job it would be. Their bid came in very competitive and they worked efficiently, cleaned up each day after they were done, were very pleasant to have around, and did a very professional job. We highly recommend them and will definitely have them back for future projects.

I have a garage that needed to be prepared for painting. He added mud to the existing sheetrock and sanded. He also hanged 4 lights in the garage. His price was higher than another quote I received but he was able to start right away. They did a good job and I would recommend him.

I originally requested bids for faux-painting for our kitchen walls. Nate responded and we discussed the project then set up time for him to see the kitchen. Nate came to our home prepared with several sample boards of his work. Since our home had Tuscan design elements, he suggested we consider a different process for the walls using a limestone plaster treatment. The sample boards looked really interesting, like works of art. Nate went back to his studio and created several custom boards incorporating colors to match our kitchen and adjacent family room. We decided on a caramel colored process where Nate incorporated three shades of color. We were a little nervous selecting this process, however once Nate started applying the plaster, we were really glad we took his advice. It turned out awesome! The colors and texture seemed to tie the cabinets, flooring and granite together. Everyone comments on the wall treatment saying it has an old world look and warms up the space. We absolutely love it. Thanks Nate you are a talented artist. We are already thinking of additional projects for Nate to work on. Nate is a creative, talented professional very passionate about his work. Without hesitation, I would recommend Nate to anyone.

We had a rental to remodel so got several bids on painting. Lori was my second lowest bid to start out. The thing that impressed me the most about her in the beginning was that she pointed out a ton of details and things she would take care of included in the price. I was a little skeptical because with a rental property it's just about getting the job done fast and for cheap but she presented that she would do a lot more than paint. Her team was fabulous. They showed up and got to work and they did a fantastic job. I talked to several of them who told me they have been painting with Lori for 10 to 15 years. The other bid I had said he would spray the paint on. Lori told me she would three tone paint everything and roll everything on. To finish product look incredible. Her paint on my cabinets looked great. She convinced me not to replace ceiling fans but instead to paint them and they turned out awesome also. She fully painted the inside of my garage for a very reasonable price. I want up spending more than what I was originally quoted and that would normally seem like a bad thing but every time I turned around she was willing to do more and for not that much money. Another thing that impressed me about her was her positive attitude in every situation. She is not a person who is looking to find the difference, but she seems to look for way she can add value and build on common ground. I am recommending her to my neighbor across the street for my personal house and I would trust Lori to come to work on any project in my house, not just my rental properties. She actually just finished painting a desk for my wife and it looks great! If you want to deal with someone who is honest and does a great job don't hesitate to hire Lori.

I highly recommend Full Colors. Our original painter got held up on another job and wasn’t going to have time to paint our trim before installation. We were under a very tight time crunch with just two days to find a new painter. Jonathan promptly responded, was very reasonable with his pricing, and was able to complete the job in less than 24 hours of posting my Thumbtack request. Over 800 linear feet of crown molding and baseboards are now primed, painted and ready for install. I am a very satisfied customer.

Brandon and his crew are the best. I was lucky enough to have a paint store recommend them. They’re professional, honest, punctual and did a fantastic job. They even cleaned up after other workers that were working in our house so I wouldn’t come home to a mess. How often would that happen. Thank you Brandon for making our renovation a little easier. I’m so glad I got meet you and your staff. I would not hesitate to recommend them, and they will always have our business.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

    • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
    • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
    • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
    • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
    • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
