FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we would schedule a free trial lesson where I explain my technique and show you some exercises. I will also have you sing for me, do an analysis of your voice, and talk about goals. There is no obligation to sign up for lessons, but if you choose to continue, we would schedule a time and day to meet weekly. Each lesson typically consists of a vocal workout (exercises to strengthen the muscles that control your vocal chords), and coaching on a song of your choice. I will point out areas that need improvement and show you how to fix problems you are having. You are also emailed an audio recording of the lesson so you can review and practice at home. We have a recital every three months to gain performing experience and apply all the training you've been doing.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have trained in Speech Level Singing with world-famous celebrity vocal coaches Seth Riggs in Los Angeles, Brett Manning in Nashville, and Debra Bonner in Utah. I earned a certificate from the Bonner Riggs training program for voice teachers. I am always striving to gain more knowledge and increase my skills and experience, so I can help singers to become their very best!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've been singing all my life! I am PASSIONATE about it! I never took lessons when I was young because I thought all voice teaches were classical. I liked singing other styles like pop, country, and R&B. I thought voice lessons would change my style and sound to something I don't like. When I discovered this method and learned that you CAN train in styles besides Classical and Opera, I became so fascinated that I decided to get some training and teach it myself! I want other singers to know that there IS another option to learn to sing ALL your favorite styles. I feel so fortunate to be able to make a living doing something that I LOVE!
