I am a nationally trained, licensed and certified professional inspector. I originally started inspecting homes in Florida, which requires 120 hours of education and training, passing a national exam, maintain GL insurance, and continuing education. Utah and California currently, doesn't require these. However, I keep my Florida license active, so if and when Utah moves to a license required state, I can transfer my license easily.
When choosing a home inspector, keep in mind- this is most likely the largest investment you’re going to make.
When I first started inspecting homes (ten plus years, and over 3,000 inspections ago), I was the cheapest- I had very little field experience and needed clients. That how it starts. Just remember, an inspector with more experience is an inspector that can provide more accurate and valuable information, and give you more peace of mind!

Working with Darren was great! He conducted the inspection and gave us a very detailed report that helped us have a better conversation with the house seller. He was always there for us when we had questions and would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in having a good inspection report.

I'm so glad we decided to go with Darren for our inspection. We are first-time buyers and he was friendly, attentive and extremely helpful. Darren was phenomenal. I wasn't able to make the inspection (as I currently live out of the state), but he was willing to coordinate meeting times with my dad to see the house. I requested him super last minute, but he was flexible and able to make my extremely tight schedule. He even came back after a few days (after a nice heavy rain) to re-inspect any leaks or water damage in the basement. He went above and beyond to ensure my inspection was completed to the highest possible caliber. The report was extremely thorough and I love the addition of photographs. As a first-time home purchaser, I wasn't sure what to expect - he walked me through any questions I had and was willing to discuss options with me. I can't say enough amazing things about Darren. I did my shopping around for a home inspector, and I am confident I chose the correct one. I would highly recommend him and would definitely use him again!!

If you’re looking for an Inspector before you purchase a home. Do yourself a favor and stop wasting your time researching. Daren is pleasant, has unbelievable knowledge and attention to detail. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are within the average range for my area, and are based on the square footage of the home. I have a few levels of pricing, depending on your budget. While I strive to be competitively priced, I like to emphasize, that less expensive is NOT always the best choice. Sometimes you really do get what you pay for! What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am completely adaptable and "First-time-home-buyer" friendly! I start off by informing the client, what to expect, and how the inspection process works. I also encourage them to write down any questions, or concerns they have, prior to the inspection, so I can make sure to answer them.
My relationship does not end with the customer, at the end of the inspection. I emphasize that I am a continuing resource, for any questions they may have in the future (no charge). As well, ALL my inspections include a re-inspection, at anytime within the 12 months following the initial inspection. This is a great resource for those clients that opted for a home warranty, and is a great time to pinpoint any items that need to be addressed prior to the expiration of that warranty.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I was formally trained at the Ed Klopfer School in Florida, which requires completing a 120 hours of instructor based training. Current member, training and certifications, by InterNACHI (National Association of Certified Home Inspectors).
Experience includes 20+ years in the construction industry, and over 8 years in the home inspection industry. I have completed more than 3,000 Home Inspections.
I am licensed by the state of Florida, which requires passing a NATIONAL INSPECTION EXAM, continuing education, insurance, and fingerprinted background checks (Utah currently does not require any formal training, insurance, or licensing for Home Inspectors).
