FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $30 for 1/2 hour lessons. Compositions depend upon how involved the piece is but the typical song will cost $250, give or take depending on whether it is a full composition or an arrangement. I also can change the key of a song that is out of range for a singer as long as the piece isn’t being performed for pay.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to have discussions with new people so that I know what is needed and they know what I can provide. Typically the first lesson is mostly talking with a bit of music and theory thrown in for good measure. That having been said, the first lesson is ALWAYS free. I love teaching and sharing music with people. And it's very true. Music makes you smarter!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am constantly learning. I'm greedy when it comes to education. I want all I can get my brain around, so if you put it within my reach, I'll suck it up! I am involved with many discussion groups through Linked in, I subscribe to many periodicals having to do with entertainment, not just the fan based ones but the ones that have to do with the mechanics of what I do, and I'm constantly talking to people in the industry, asking their opinions of not only my own work but that of others so that I know what is good and what sucks. I have a degree in Music Production and Sound Design and very much enjoy plying my trade in recording people performing and setting up sound for special occasions. But I have to say, teaching is what sparks my interest most intensely. I absolutely love seeing the light of understanding brighten people's faces. It's like seeing their spirits come alive. It's an addictive experience. I'll admit it. I'm a music junkie!
