Introduction: I am ready to help you on your cello journey! I am accepting students in Salt Lake County right now.
I have 15 years of teaching experience. I have taught students of all ages and all levels, from Suzuki Book 1 to concertos. I have taught lessons through my own studio and at BYU. To help my students, I have posted videos on YouTube so that they have examples of assigned pieces and etudes. I believe in a balance of scales, technical exercises, and beautiful pieces.
I graduated from Brigham Young University in cello performance in 2009. I participated in the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra, of which I was the principal cellist. I also participated in the BYU Chamber Orchestra with whom I traveled on tours to Central Europe and the New England states. I also was selected to perform with the BYU Philharmonic Orchestra in Evening of Concertos in 2004. In 2007, I was chosen to be part of the BYU Honors String Quartet.
I have received instruction from cello professors at Brigham Young University, the University of Utah, and Northwestern University. I have also participated in master classes with cellists, like Bernard Greenhouse (Beaux Arts Trio), Pegsoon Whang (Utah Symphony), and Daniel Muller-Schott (world-renowned soloist). I have won the ASTA (American String Teachers Association) Utah Solo competition (junior division-2003, senior division-2008) and I was runner-up in the MTNA (Music Teachers National Association) Utah young artist division.
