- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
In our first lesson I will need to get a feel for you, know what your goals are, your current level, see how you pick things and which may be your learning process (some people are more visual, others aural, etc), which kind of music/skills would you like to learn, etc. So that I figure how to approach my teaching in order to help you best. Of course, if you have something ready to play that’d be great! I’d love to listen and we would start working on it right away =:) Or if you are a beginner, I would instead introduce you to music and piano from scratch :-) You will also receive my feedback and suggestions in terms of how to approach the lessons, material to use, recommended length, what to focus on first, etc. I pretty much tailor my lessons individually, depending on what each person’s goals and skills are!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I got my Bachelors in Madrid (Spain) where I got accepted at age 16, being one of the only 5 candidates who were accepted in the Royal Conservatory of Madrid that year, out of about 100 applicants. I got my first Masters degree in Utrecht (The Netherlands) and my second one in USF (University of South Florida), where I was also a GA (Graduate Assistant). Then in 2015 I was offered a full TA (Teaching Assistantship) at the Univeristy of Memphis TN after auditioning for a Doctorate degree in Piano Performance. There I was teaching class piano for about 3 years and got a minor in Music Theory. I have also won prices in piano competitions, performed around Europe and USA since, have played as a soloist with chamber orchestras, and more. All my teachers since I started playing piano at an early age are renown musicians in the classical world, and I feel fortunate I had the chance to learn my piano technique and artistry from musicians of such a high caliber. I LOVE teaching and have near 15 years of experience teaching students of all ages (4yrs old- 80's) and levels.
