I Was Very Over weight and uncomfortable with my body. My attitude was negative and i was never happy. Until third year of highschool i decided to change my life around by losing weight. However, during the weightloss i didnt do it properly. I became very unhealthy and got sick, even though i dropped a tremendous amount of weight. I met stacy April 2016 and she changed my life around, she was able to show me that food is a necessity for your body to function properly especially how important it is to build muscle and burn fat. She not only became my nutritionist and trainer but she changed my overal mood about how i feel emotionally and physically. Thank you So much for all that youve done and i would definitely recommed you to anyone seeking a fitness coach!

I came to Proactive Wellness Concepts two years ago, due to pain in my left knee. I attributed the pain to an over use injury. Linda Nedilsky assessed my hips and pelvis to be out of alignment. Linda used John Barnes myofascial release on me. My pain was greatly reduced. As I got stronger I began to exercise and Linda became my personal trainer and nutritionist. I lost 20 pounds and have kept it off even after retirement. Linda's studio is welcoming, inviting and friendly. I often share how mfr has helped me. I highly recommend Linda Nedilsky and Proactive Wellness Concepts if you are in any pain. Mary H. - grateful client

I have done two of Amy's self guided cleanses. She is a brilliant nutritionist. All of her recipes are tested, effective and flavorful. Amy thoughtfully and comprehensively answered my multiple questions and helped me get on track. I have now made healthy eating a lifestyle because of Amy and I feel better than I have in years.

I love working with Carrie. At first I was scared that she would put me on some crash diet or crazy exercise plan. In the past that is what always happened with me. I then quickly burned out and went back to my old habits. Carrie worked with me to develop a plan that works for me. And she was not like nutritionists I have seen before, she did not just tell me what to eat and what not to eat. She talked with me about what I needed and let me set small goals. There always no carb or calorie counting, no crazy weight loos gimmicks. And I loved her idea of a program versus paying per visit. It made me accountable for following my goals. I am on my second month, and I have lost about 6 pounds, but I feel amazing. Carrie has taught me to take better care of myself, not just with diet and exercise; but with stress reduction and self care too. I feel like I am in a far better place physically and emotionally then just a few weeks before we began working together. Well worth the money! I paid far more and received far less in the past with yo-yo dieting, personal trainers, nutritionists, and alternative healers. Carrie does more than all of them combined! And she taught me how to cook amazing gormet veggitarian meals. I am not a veggitarian, but her recipes make me think about becoming vegan!

I was being trained by Catherine years ago and I said something about " No pain, no gain " as she corrected my posture during the routine. She quickly said that no one should experience "pain" when working out. I knew then that I had FINALLY found a REAL trainer. Catherine's training and professional skills are unmatched. She simply loves doing what she does and it shows. She trains you according to your skill level and ability, and she is never distracted by today's tech gadgets ,( cellphones) which means you get 100% of her time, every time. I moved out of state for a short time and invited Catherine down for a visit and workout of course. she could not out run me on the beach, but she whipped my butt in the gym , but they were good workouts. Later on during her visit, she took me to the market and taught me how to properly shop for quality organic foods , and quickly made a knock out dish for me and my friend as we looked on and took notes. I moved back to the DMV area, reconnected with her and now I am receiving weekly healthy meals from her. Boy is that a relief. And knowing that she is a certified nutritionist only adds to her credibility. In short, if you are looking for true quality in a trainer as well as someone too cook healthy meals for you, Catherine is the hands down choice and that's why I give her 5 stars. Keep up the good work Catherine. Mark Stith Silver Spring, MD

Before seeing a nutritionist, most of my knowledge about dieting and exercise were limited to the common facts found on the Internet and word on the street. However, after meeting with Mr. Zaid, I had not only learned about the proper way to diet and exercise, but I also expunged those false facts I had been using that had inhibited my progress. He is extremely thorough in his explanations and calculations and will answer all of your questions with complete honesty. I highly recommend him to anyone that is looking to improve their life.

Michele helped my daughter immensely to with her expertise as a nutritionist. She has guided her as to foods to eat to help prevent injuries and strengthen her bones, as well as helped her with other aspects of her life as a college track athlete. Michele is an excellent listener and has always been available to me, as well as my daughter, whenever I had questions. She truly cares, and follows through on her suggestions. My daughters doctors hold her in high esteem. I would highly recommend Michele.

“I liked the personal approach. I believe Christine made recommendations to meet my specific needs. I learned how to eat a variety of foods and prepare simple meals. I also learned how to properly interpret nutrition data and labels on products as well as which products to purchase (for example, steel cut oats instead of prepackaged oatmeal). I have more energy since I started eating better, drinking more water and less caffeine!” - Amber G.

Rachel is an excellent nutritionist and very knowledgeable. Not only has she been helping me accomplish my goals and get healthy, but she also explains to me the biology and science behind the plan she's giving me and what my body needs to go through and will go through using her plan, as well as what some potential pitfalls can be if I don't follow the plan the way that she has presented it. She is more than happy to answer any questions you may have. She gives lots of different suggestions for ways to successfully carry out her plan and gives her reasoning for why she chooses what she does. She checks in frequently to make sure everything is going well. I would definitely recommend her to anyone. Pleasant to speak with. And she has been helping me easily and fairly quickly accomplish my goals. She's an awesome nutritionist. 😊😁

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.
