I hired John Walton to install a new kitchen for me, which involved, among the usual carpentry work, the completion of some minor plumbing (hooking up dishwasher, garbage disposal, water line to refrigerator, etc.) and electrical work. He installed electrical fixtures such as outlets, switches and light fixtures, ran dedicated circuits, and installed lights. Even with tall ceilings and plaster walls, all this was not a problem and he did the work neatly and professionally. He was truly a pleasure to work with. I appreciated his reliability and accessibility - every time I had a question or concern he responded within 5 minutes. He was easy to work with in terms of changes and modifications (there were quite a few) and we worked it all out equitably. The quality of his work was superb with no mishaps along the way. I have done about a dozen rehabs in another state and can honestly say John ranks up there with the best of the best. Along with the high quality of his work, I most appreciated his pleasant demeanor, his reliability, his knowledge and execution of the work to be done, his timeliness, flexibility in working with our schedule, and the fair price for which he did all the work. I will definitely be calling him again!

Brett is an outstanding Master Carpenter. His skills are beyond repute. He is truly a skilled craftsman, with nothing beyond the scope of his skills. He is involved in every process of every project and, time after time, amazed me with his ingenuity and talent. He custom designed a 24x24 in-law addition for me in Middletown MD complete with an amazing custom kitchen, custom island breakfast bar, as well creating custom made base and crown molding, pocket doors, an expansive deck with a fluid flow to yet another custom addition which connected this new addition to my existing house flawlessly. A window lined floor to vaulted ceiling family room, step down library and breeze way seamed the two structures perfectly. Always professional, conscientious Brett thought out every step to avoid any possible issues. He worked extremely well with me on all matters and listened and considered my wishes when coming up with designs for these additions. He was spot on with budget and used his creativeness to create the most remarkable custom additions to my home. I would highly recommend this talented individual to take on any project and any custom work. You will not be disappointed with the quality of his work and his vast list of clients (many of which come back time and time again - like myself) prove their satisfaction with his work.

This is the epitome of a good small/local company. Curtis Home Improvements played a difficult role in our multi-faceted home renovation. We hired them to convert a large window to a set of french doors, build a large custom deck, abandon several electric base plate heaters, have granite counter tops installed in our kitchen, install a tile back splash in our kitchen, custom cut our cabinets and installed a wall mounted microwave, installed a dishwasher, and a sink disposal. They did all this while seamlessly allowing other contractors to come in install a new heat pump, pull up carpets and put hardwoods in one room, refinish hardwoods everywhere else, and my family to remove wall paper and paint throughout the house while I built a fence. In the process, we added on a few change orders: removing, repairing and placing new tile for a bathroom floor where we found some wet rot, skim coating areas on the drywall that were messed up from previous renovations or from removing wall paper. They performed this additional work without missing a beat, and at a fair cost. Everything looks great.

Mike has worked on two projects with me. While renovating my kitchen, my contractor recommended Mike when I decided that I wanted a live edge counter top on my island. I met with Mike and was impressed with his obvious skill as well as his aesthetic sense. He understood what I was trying to achieve and made suggestions while respecting my vision. I ended up adding a live edge shelf in another area of the kitchen for the microwave. Both pieces garnered many comments and compliments from friends and were eye-catching in the photos when I decided to sell the house. I asked Mike to work on two projects in my new house. I had a trestle table built by my great-grandfather – I estimated it to be between 80 and 100 years old and was made of two 13” x 52” planks. Mike refinished the planks, placed hinges between them and created new legs for the table, turning it into a drop leave table which now sits behind the sofa. It was wonderful to see new life breathed into an old piece. The house came with a furnace beneath a floor grate in the center of the house. I removed the furnace but wanted to retain the access to the crawl space. I was able to salvage some of the original wood flooring and asked Mike to create a “trap door” for the crawl space. He understood exactly what I wanted and after creating a template (well, let’s be honest – the cabinet maker created the template), I delivered the template, the pieces of floor wood and brass pull to Mike. Soon Mike delivered a trap door which exceeded my expectations – it’s a beautiful nod to the history of the house. I have found Mike to be easy to work with – he understands my vision quickly, asks questions for clarification and makes suggestions which enhance the project while respecting my concept. Mike seems to really love what he does – his finished products reflect his skill, his creativity and his love of wood and woodworking.

Todd was very prompt in giving me a free estimate, and he was the most moderate of the three estimates I received to repair our wood laminate kitchen flooring. He and his fellow worker did an excellent job. They were polite, on time, cleaned up at the end of the job, and stuck with the original estimate. I would use them again without hesitation, and they have a variety of construction skills. Great work!

Matt did a great job on our kitchen remodel. There were cabinets and bulkhead to tear down to give way to 4ft white cabinets and wood floors. This was a dramatic change for us as we live in our kitchen with our 4 dogs. Even with cabinet exchanges, he worked hard to make the changes. We highly recommend Coffey for your next job. Marcelo and his team at Zeus Building and Renovations cut a new, large doorway into a load-bearing wall, replaced the crown moulding in my living room and dining room, and painted my living room, dining room, and kitchen. They worked long days to finish the whole job in 6 days--ahead of schedule. Marcelo has an eye for detail, and the finish product looks great. For example, he salvaged the baseboard he removed to wrap it around the base of the new door frame; he custom-built and stained a wide wood transition strip for the the floor of the new doorway; and the moulding corners are meticulous. Friends who hadn't seen the house before thought the doorway was original. The painting is well done with very crisp lines and clean trim, and Marcelo patched a lot of lines and bumps in the walls so that an old house now looks smooth and new. He cleaned up all the drywall dust so that the house was clean when he left. Marcelo's communication was great, and he sent photo updates of his progress while I was away. His price was fair, and I would hire him again.

Slavik and his associate were a pleasure to work with! They are professional, friendly, accommodating to our schedule, and they do a great job with their tile installation. Very precise, clean installation. They did our kitchen backsplash with glass tile 3x6 in a standard brick bond pattern. We are extremely happy with the results! Highly recommend them!

Vernon Eppard has completed a number of projects in both of our homes: one in Virginia and the other in Texas. We have been so happy with every project and have recommended him to many friends over the years. His suggestions and recommendations were wonderful. In our Virginia home, he designed and built out the basement area adding three bedrooms, a full bathroom, a family room, a custom bar, and a back deck. In our Texas home, Mr. Eppard has made two separate trips to complete a number of projects for our family. He has converted our formal living room into an office with double French doors; converted our lofted library into a bedroom; ran crown molding throughout the entire second floor; removed original marble from foyer area and laid new ceramic tile; remodeled fireplace mantle and created hidden area behind mantle for all electrical cords for large-screen TV and entertainment system. Added additional kitchen cabinets, removed old florescent lighting, and created an inlaid ceiling lighting system. Mr. Eppard built a custom butcher-block island, replaced back splash and countertops throughout the kitchen. He built new board-on-board fence and added a screened in porch with access to pool. We highly recommend Vernon Eppard for all of your home improvement projects. He is an outstanding carpenter and the only one we will contract with to do our home improvements.

Mr. Adams has done work in my kitchen to finish it off with sanding the walls, painting them and laying the linoleum tile floor. It looks great and the floor idea is wonderful! The linoleum tile he suggested looks like real tile. I would highly recommend him. Mike Holmes quality of work at reasonable costs!!

In 2012 we purchased a Colonial style house built in 1810, the house itself was structurally sound, however not much had been done cosmetically, so it was "tired" as some would say therefore it was in rough shape. Over the course of eight months Stephen and his crew worked for us renovating our old house, building our garage, and doing various projects.. We found his crew capable, articulate and very responsible. Our renovation consisted of of building an addition and two porches, a deck and a new kitchen all that needed to appear as part of the old structure, the guys achieved that beautifully. He came within our budget, his subcontractors were also exceptional. We are greatly pleased with the results and so love our house, with it's warm and cozy feel. i am especially satisfied with my gourmet kitchen and our custom made heart pine cabinets of which they made from the old floor that was in our attic , the cabinets are stunning.

Dawn installed a new Kitchen Faucet and did a remarkable job. It took a little longer than anticipated because of a rusted bolt, however, she stuck with it, removed the old one and installed the new one. Great job. We will definitely hire her again.
