About

I have used Alvin Smithson's services for over five years as a piano tuner, teacher and performer. I am always impressed with his skills, artistry and professionalism. Alvin first came to tune my 100-years old Steinway after it had been neglected for a number of years. He first examined the instrument, diagnosed what needed to be done and then proceeded with his expert tuning. Immediately after he was done and started playing, I was amazed at how good the piano sounded. Alvin explained that with a piano that hasn't been tuned or played in so many years, it will take some time to achieve its best form and sound for which it was built. A short time after, my wife started taking piano lessons from Alvin and as she started gaining proficiency in playing under his guidance, the piano itself gained a rich pleasing sound. Alvin paid close attention and adjusted notes or did a full tuning whenever needed. He also took the time to clean the strings and do minor technical adjustments. When a string needed to be replaced, Alvin recommended a technician from a highly reputable company. Overall, we owe it to his expertise to have the wonderful old piano do what it was built for by the Steinway masters. I should also mention that I heard some great musicians at venues where Alvin is the regular piano tuner. People who visit our house and hear our piano, or play it themselves, always compliment its sound. But the best comes when Alvin himself sits at the keyboard, whether at our house, at a social function or performing in the theater, it's such a joy to hear him play some great classical pieces as well as his own wonderful compositions. He is truly a very talented, sensitive and highly knowledgeable artist. And such a pleasant person, too. My wife and I feel fortunate to have Alvin give us the best piano sound to enjoy live music in our home. I would recommend him to anyone as piano tuner, teacher and overall musician.

About

I have been taking voice lessons with Sam for about three months now. I had experience doing musical theatre in the past, but no proper training. After just the first few weeks of lessons, I noticed both a change in the tone-quality of my voice, as well as an increase in my range. Through his vocal warm ups, Sam does a spectacular job in explaining the importance of resonance and sound placement. He has also taught me good breathing technique to support a strong voice. On top of all that, I thoroughly enjoy going to lessons every week.

Voice lessons with Rachel Leanza have been a great pleasure. She is awesome at working out a schedule for lessons and making sure you're comfortable during them. You get what you give in effort, but she is always there to help and answer any questions. When you do start to experience progress in your voice, Rachel is just as enthusiastic as you are, which makes the lessons quite fun. If you're looking to learn about singing and enjoy yourself while doing it, then these lessons are definitely worth it.

About

Ms. Nicole Lamm was my very first voice teacher. I started taking voice lessons with her at about age 13, and continued for over 5 years, for all of 8th-12th grades. Being at the most beginning stages of singing, Nicole not only introduced me to a genre of music that I never thought I would sing, but that I would easily fall in love with. She brought me from an inexperienced child to a young lady, preparing me and instilling in me musicianship, work ethic and and a passion for classical music, including art song, musical theater and opera. Her teachings are affective for anyone, young or old, beginner or professional. Because of her patience and time spent with me all those years, I have been singing for over 10 and am continuing my studies as an opera singer, a career that began with her and will last a lifetime.

About

My daughter has been with Dr. Oster for 8 years. Dr. Oster is a very unique teacher and caters to each child's strengths and weaknesses through her teaching. My daughter is naturally shy and not very expressive emotionally, but she has become more expressive and confident through playing piano under the guidance of Dr. Oster. Dr. Oster also provides very rigorous and intense pieces for her students to learn, and gives them the necessary tools to do so more independently as they grow older, but all the while with her counseling. Many people are constantly amazed by my daughter's piano playing due to difficulty of these pieces. The perseverance and work ethic necessary to master these pieces is astounding and are invaluable life lessons that my daughter has acquired through learning from Dr. Oster. Dr. Oster truly wants her students to excel in all aspects of life. We are very thankful to have her in our lives.

About

Our daughter started working with Christine at 11 years old, at first just for voice, but eventually for piano as well. Christine’s work with our daughter was outstanding on several levels. She helped our daughter improve her technical skills, she inspired confidence in our daughter to perform, and she readily shared her love of music. Our daughter enjoyed all of her lessons, even as they worked hard for the full time they spent together. When it was time for the school musical or other performances, Christine was always ready to help our daughter prepare for an audition or concert. I would highly recommend Christine to anyone looking for expert instruction in voice or piano. And for those of you with a teen or pre-teen looking for instruction, don’t under estimate the impression it will make on your child when they realize they can buy music from their instructor on iTunes!

I've been taking vocal lessons with Karen through Skype, and despite the distance (Silver Spring US- Mumbai), it has been devoid of disturbances and quite enjoyable. After evaluating my voice and musical tastes, she has helped me improve my vocal tone and power in a surprisingly short time. She has been very helpful, evaluating the recordings i send her by mail. Would highly recommend her as a teacher. Thanks! :)

I completely agree with Chelsea's testimonial. Our teenage daughter has taken voice lessons with Alexandra for two years and has learned so much. Alexandra is a gifted, classically trained singer, but she is very open to having her students sing whatever music interests them. Our daughter has learned proper vocal technique from Alexandra and has developed her voice and performance tremendously. Alexandra is a gentle soul and especially well suited to working with young people. She is patient and kind. She wants to help each singer develop their individual talent. Anyone who can study with Alexandra is a lucky person. She is wonderful!

After only a few lessons, I've noticed a significant improvement in my tone, projection, and range (and, as a result, confidence). I always leave the lesson with a clear idea of what to work on to improve, but the criticism is never personal. I look forward to continued study.

About

Miss Bond is HIGHLY professional, knowledgeable, patient and encouraging. She challenges you but instills such confidence in you that new endeavors aren't daunting. I started signing professionally late in life (post-40) and my first single got to #11 on Traxsource's top 100 R&B/Hip Hop category. I'm amazed at how much better I sound than when I started a year ago and we're just getting started with the lessons. Miss Bond is flexible and will even do lessons via Skype which is a godsend since I have a 5 year old son. Her credentials, conviction and heartfelt love for vocals are a winner. Not only does she teach about vocals, stage presence, and breathing, but even the health of your vocal chords. She is a beautiful and encouraging spirit. You will progress to levels you did not think you could reach!!
