Denean and her team were so helpful, we could't be happier with their services! Even though we hired Denean for the day-of coordination, she helped us map out the whole process. Five months before the wedding she sent us a few questionnaires that helped me think of what needs to be planned, down to the little details. We had an in-person meeting in the beginning of the process and then another meeting the week before the wedding to confirm every details, and she helped with our rehearsal. She is so easy to work with, and responds very quickly to any question I had. On the day of, I was able to relax and enjoy our special day! Denean and her team set up the decorations for the ceremony and the reception, as well as putting together the flower centerpieces. In the end, we had an amazing wedding where everyone, us especially, had a blast! I couldn't imagine pulling that of without Denean and her team, and highly recommend their services.

For our wedding, Angie was a gift in herself. Throughout the whole process...helping with planning, suggestions, decorations and on site coordination on the day, she was absolutely indispensable. Our wedding would quite literally would not have been the same without her. Thank you again, Angie, for making our special day so special! X Kat & Ash

Mary was instrumental in making our wedding day go smoothly - and we are so grateful for her day-of coordination and support! Mary is generous with her time and made time to attend an on-site meeting, hold a call to walk through timelines, and chat through ad hoc details via text at the client's convenience. She also was incredibly flexible and agile when it came to last minute tasks/plans as I finalized details up until the day before. On the day of, Mary gracefully handled a transportation hiccup and helped coordinate travel between our ceremony and reception for our out of town guests. Mary worked behind the scenes to make our dream wedding a reality. I can't thank Mary enough for her support during our wedding day!

I hired Michele Palmer to be my day-off wedding coordinator for my 220-person wedding, and I could not be more pleased with the services that Michele and her colleague, Debby, provided! FANTASTIC!!! The wedding day-off coordination service is more that just the "day-off" - Michele came out to the venue and went over details with me a month prior to the wedding, her and Debby attended the rehearsal dinner (and patiently waited for our tardy wedding party), and Michele was quick to answer any questions I had and give me advice in the months leading up to our wedding. During the actual wedding day, Michele and Debby made sure everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry about a thing. Michele was also instrumental in providing me with great advice regarding asking my rental company for an early tent delivery - since it was expected to rain all week prior to our wedding. This ensured that the grass under the tent was relatively dry for our wedding day. I would 100% recommend Michele and her company to any future bride. Trust me, you need the help!!!

It is hard to know where to begin with this review... Tiffany Green and her staff were amazing in their level of professionalism, support, and courteous service throughout our event. We were celebrating our daughter's marriage and, as with any large party, there were a few glitches at the outset. Tiffany and staff arrived and saved the day -- helping us to quickly organize the platters, plates, beverages, etc. -- allowing us to step back and enjoy the experience. They were attentive throughout the evening. We wouldn't hesitate to call them again and will be recommending Party Helpers to our friends and familly! - Kathy K.

BMore Fabulous was such a great find for our wedding, we will be looking to work with them again soon for our family reunion! I needed a wedding planner due to my busy schedule. I wanted someone to be able to accomplish anything I needed from vendor searches to scheduling. I quickly found out that I needed an all-inclusive package, however, all the polished major companies I found were charging a ridiculous amount of money and not providing everything I wanted to be accomplished. To save money and also try to support local businesses or start-ups, students, amateurs etc, I started to look for wedding planners on craigslist, thumbtack, local ads etc. I found BMore Fabulous and was quickly convinced that this was who I wanted to work with. The price was right, the details were many, and the contract was flexible. I did not realize until later, but we really did win big by working with this company. BMore Fabulous was more than all inclusive. Erin, the boss, accomplished all the expected all-inclusive activities such as finding vendors, scheduling meetings, and planning the day of events, but she did WAYY more than that. She was also our decorator for the venue, with her own linen and decor, she provided uplighting for beatuiful effects with her own equipment, and she was our florist for all the bouquets and decor. She also provided the staff and coordination for our bar. If you truly want all inclusive in one place, Erin, from BMore Fabulous is the WOMAN. Also, regardless of what she could provide, Erin, was very flexible. This, I find, might have been the most important benefit we got from working with them. I imagine other polished and bougie companies would be very strict and inflexible when it came to the contract, payment options, changes to your ideas and plans. With Erin, we were able to change our contract twice. Our payment options were flexible, and there were no hiccups with policies. If we had a vision, there was no headache with changing things. My husband and I are very particular and he had his doubts if all of our details would turn out right at the wedding. He actually had his doubts about BMore Fabulous, because all of our meetings were not conducted at an office, and details were written on lined paper, or an old laptop etc. In all reality, that was judgmental. Our wedding turned out absolutely beautiful! Despite that there were so many mistakes from our officiant and DJ, the crowd did not notice, and the only reason it ran as smooth as it did was because of BMore Fabulous! My husband in fact, later said how he was impressed by Erin and her work and how she did an exceptional job. Definitely work with BMore Fabulous!

Where do I begin?!!! Trina and her team were amazing! I initially reached out early last year just looking for quotes on decor setup. Trina responded immediately with a very professional and friendly response. Several months later, it was because of that response, that I reached out again. This time I also needed day of coordination services, along with the decor setup and tear down. She retained her professionalism and after our phone consultation, my wife and I knew we wanted to hire Affairs Remembered. Trina was a true blessing from the very beginning. There wasn't a question she couldn't answer, and her response time was very quick. Her pricing beat out all the rest, and was extremely fair. She never made us feel like we had "dumb" questions. We loved the fact that she was open to our suggestions, but when needed, advised us of a better solution she thought would work better. We appreciated that honesty since we had been planning on our own for so long. Much to our surprise Trina began taking over almost immediately. She maintained her professionalism when problems occurred and made us feel comfortable that we could trust her, and her team on our wedding day. Our ceremony and reception were outdoors and due to the weather Trina took good care to make respectful suggestions for our families in regards to having to tolerate the unexpected cold. With so many last minute changes, Trina communicated with all of our vendors, and made sure everything would still be executed according to our contracts. The day of our wedding, Trina and her team went above and beyond in all aspects. They called to make sure our hair and makeup team arrived on time, they tracked down park rangers when our caterer was stuck at the entrance of our reception location, the list goes on. They made sure my wife and I were calm, comfortable, and happy the entire day. Trina rearranged our timelines last minute when we took more time for our photos. She handled our families with respect, even when they were complaining. The biggest issue of the day was when a vendor was a no show. She tracked them down, and didn't take no for an answer in trying to resolve our major issue. She even offered to help mediate several days later to make sure we were refunded accordingly. You can trust one of the most important days of your life in Affairs Remembered's hands. Being someone who thought I had it all figured out, hiring Affairs Remembered was one of the smartest decisions I made. Our ceremony decor was breathtaking! Not once did we feel our wedding wasn't important because it was small and non-traditional. In Trina's eyes, our wedding wasn't just a "park wedding" but was just as important as a huge extravaganza would have been. Thank you doesn't even begin to describe how grateful we are to have worked with her!!

I needed help pulling all the details for my wedding together and Little Black Book Events was the glue to pulling everything together! Vanessa helped organize all the vendors, the timeline, the coordination, and more. I couldn't have had such a well planned wedding without Little Black Book Events. I definitely would not have been able to enjoy my wedding nearly as much without knowing that Vanessa had everything under control. Little Black Book Events was amazing and I highly recommend them!

READ THIS IF YOU WANT EVERY WONDERFUL DETAIL!!!!!!!! I first got engaged in April of 2017 and am a physician in Virginia. My fiance and I were looking for a wedding planner who would be able to put together a wedding reception that looked like an outdoors starry night...but INSIDE a ballroom. I had heard of Mitch via a family friend and through some research....when he came to visit my mother and I for the first time, we were incredibly relieved. Before we had even officially hired him, he already went to work! On the FIRST day he met us, he already brought in ideas, venues, prices, and significantly reduced rates on everything he presented because of his extensive relationship with his vendors (he has been doing this for a very long time and I swear he knows everyone)! The take home point about Mitch is simple.....he will give you UNBELIEVABLE results at a price that you could not imaging possible. His artistic abilities are unmatched...he designed a candle lit forest for me INSIDE a boring ballroom and even changed the ceiling of the ballroom into a beautifully lit piece of art (circus ceiling style with crystal chandeliers levitating to the flowers on each table with floating orbs of candle lights). I come from a large Egyptian family and Mitch is very experienced in hiring specific vendors for YOUR specific wedding needs. Again, he is EXPERIENCED and is not new to the process. There are thousands of times where Mitch would handle situations and prevent stress from even coming to my mother and I. I CAN ACTUALLY SAY THAT I HAD A COMPLETELY STRESS FREE WEDDING AND REHEARSAL DINNER!!!!!!!!! And as for the wedding....everything went as planned EXACTLY...not one thing went wrong even though the old saying goes that you should prepare yourself for something....well....we actually had a perfect wedding. Mitch even surprised me with a firework entrance for my husband and I....this is how Mitch is...he is among the most kind and LOYAL people I know. If you want a wedding planner who will literally take away your stress and create a wedding above what you could ever imagine, Mitch is the one!!!! <3

I will like to say that my fiancé and I are extremely happy with their service for the event. They were on time, they are personable, and of course their work is impeccable. I would highly suggest this person or company to anyone looking for this particular service. Amina and her husband were very professional and wonderful to work with. Both are very talented and I was very pleased with their stage design, I could have not asked for anything better for our engagement party. Throughout the whole process Amina was very attentive and always ready to answer my questions and give suggestions. I was truly a pleasure working with both of them.

Omg! Seye was really amazing. I was really stressing especially up to the day and she really helped me relieve a lot of stress. When I was freaking out she would just say “it’s fine I’ll handle it” or “I got it don’t worry” and I would be looking like are you crazy! Lol I have so much to do. She really held it down though I must admit. I hired her as a DOC but from day one she working and helping me out to the very end. She was always in touch with me and I was always able to reach her. My wedding day was nothing short of magical and people are still raving about it and Seye. Everyone was like who was that she was on top of everything! If you are second guessing on hiring Seye don’t! Hire her and I swear you will not regret it. She is worth every single penny and more. If I ever do anything again I will hire her and I highly recommend her to any and everybody. I miss her already and if I could I would go back and do my wedding over again. Thank you Seye.

I highly recommend Tiana and her staff. She went above and beyond what I contracted her for. I planned 90% of my wedding with some help from my mother. I hired Tiana a few weeks before the day just for "day of" coordination. From the moment I hired her she took over with contacting vendors and working out details I had not thought of. She attended the rehearsal for our outdoor wedding and when we realized the weather wouldn't cooperate, which we didn't plan for, she jumped into her contacts and got me beautiful decorations for our indoor backup room at a great price. I definitely appreciate her help and support and will be recommending her to a few of my engaged friends.

We had a henna night planned for my sister and our decorator canceled on us last minute due to her personal problems. We had two days to find someone to decorate our henna night. Imperial designs was referred to us by one of our friends and within less than 2 days Sahar made my sister's henna night unforgettable. She decorated the venue, prepared the tables and chairs with table centerpieces and handled the music station well. She also managed the catering company and the bridal table. Thank you sahar for your service. Very well appreciated.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a wedding event coordinator do?

Pulling off a large, complex wedding or an elegant, small affair requires juggling myriad details, including the officiant, food, drink, wedding cake, entertainment, transportation, rehearsal dinner, photography, equipment rentals, venue reservations and more. A wedding event coordinator can help you keep track of these details, overseeing the planning process and managing everything on the day of your wedding. Each wedding coordinator (and wedding) is different, but in general you can expect an event coordinator to:

  • Help you devise a realistic wedding budget and hold your vendors to it.
  • Map out a master plan that includes all of the details including ceremony music, favors, the guest book and more.
  • Suggest ceremony and reception locations that fit your wedding size, budget and vision.
  • Suggest florists, photographers, bands, caterers and other vendors that fit your budget.
  • Negotiate vendor contracts for the best deals.
  • Create a timeline for the day of the wedding that includes each vendor and member of your wedding party.
  • Mail invitations and track RSVPs.
  • Answer questions about wedding etiquette and current wedding trends.
  • Manage the wedding day from supervising vendors and setup to handling last-minute emergencies.

What is a wedding planner?

A wedding planner is a professional service provider whose job it is to organize and execute all the details of a couple’s wedding. A wedding planner can be contracted at any stage in the wedding planning process to help to any degree the couple is willing to pay for. Wedding planning is similar to event planning in that a planning team handles the coordination of multiple wedding elements including catering, venue, guests, entertainment, decor, transportation and more. Anyone who has ever been involved in a wedding can confirm that wedding planning is hard work. Experience brings wisdom when it comes to avoiding or resolving day-of challenges. There is no legal regulatory body that oversees or certifies wedding planning as an industry. Anyone who chooses can call themselves a wedding planner. When looking for a wedding planner, be sure to read reviews, and make smart hiring decisions by asking about licenses and insurance.

Do I need a wedding day coordinator?

Even if you’ve handled every detail of planning your wedding, you might appreciate having a day-of wedding coordinator in your corner. Usually, the coordinator meets with you a few weeks before your wedding to put together a detailed timeline of everything that needs to happen on your wedding day. Then, on the big day, the coordinator makes sure everything goes according to plan — and handles any emergencies that pop up, such as party crashers, missing tuxedos, late vendors, disappearing bridal party members and more. Most wedding coordinators also handle:

  • Distributing the wedding day timeline to all of your vendors.
  • Coordinating all of your vendors, including the photographer, florist and baker.
  • Conducting the wedding rehearsal.
  • Helping the bride and her wedding party get dressed and take photos.
  • Checking floor plans, lighting levels, cake placement, menus, favors and more.
  • Collecting the wedding gifts and keeping personal items safe and accounted for.

Even if you don’t think you need a wedding coordinator, check with your venue. Some require that couples hire a day-of wedding coordinator for the day of the event.

How much does it cost for a wedding planner?

Wedding planning is a full-time job — unless you hire a professional to handle the hard work for you. The cost for a wedding planner will depend on the level of service you desire. The least expensive wedding planner option is day-of coordination, then partial service, then full-service.

The national average cost for wedding planning is between $990 and $1,300. Costs are greatly affected by region, with rural or smaller-town wedding planners often far more affordable than planners in higher-cost cities. Here are some examples of the various levels of wedding planning and their potential average costs:

  • Day-of-wedding coordination: $800-$1,700. Day-of services can include the planner finalizing all details, creating a timeline, confirming vendors and overseeing all setup, day-of activities, and cleanup. The couple does all the front-end planning and contracts all the vendors. Time commitment could be about 15-25 hours, depending on pricing.
  • Partial service: $1,500-$3,800. Here the planner works with the couple from the beginning, helping contract vendors, creating a timeline, and overseeing all details of day-of execution. Time commitment could be about 30-60 hours, depending on package and pricing.
  • Full service: $3,500-$8,000 or more. Here the professional handles all wedding and planning details including working on design, securing rentals, getting the venue and vendors, and handling complete execution of the event. Time commitment could be 50-150 hours or more, depending on package and pricing.
  • Consulting: $50-$150 per hour for design, vendor, reception and other wedding planning consultation.

How much do day-of wedding coordinators cost?

A day-of wedding coordinator makes sure that every detail of your wedding day goes off without a hitch, and deals quickly and quietly with any last-minute emergencies. For many brides, the day-of wedding coordinator is their best investment! The average national cost for a wedding coordinator is $800 to $1,000. Although full-service wedding coordinators often charge a percentage of the total wedding budget, most day-of coordinators charge a flat fee plus an additional hourly fee if the day runs long. For example, a 15-hour day-of coordination costs an average of $600, plus an additional $45 per hour if the coordinator works more than the planned 15 hours. Another option is to hire a coordinator to manage the last-minute details leading up to the event; for example, 25 hours of month-of coordination costs an average of $1,200. Several factors affect the cost of day-of coordination, including the region, the planner’s experience, and the specifics of the wedding. If the ceremony and reception are in two different locations, expect to pay more than if they’re in the same place. Also, extra details, such as managing food trucks or setting up snacks in addition to the meal, will increase the cost.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
