Candice is amazing! After falling in love with my trial wedding makeup, I booked Candice for my wedding. She did full makeup on myself and 4 bridal party members and light grooming on one other. What set Candice apart from others (I had a total of 3 trials with other artists) is her understanding and application of what I wanted. I wanted to look like myself - and I did. As a woman of color, I am hyper sensitive to foundation matching and Candice dedicated ample time to this during our trial. I only have great things to say about her work. Today is the day after my wedding and my husband :) keeps remarking how great my face looked (AND he hates makeup).

I had an Indian wedding and Brishna did my makeup and hair for Mehendi, wedding ceremony and reception. Brishna did a good job with my makeup and hair for all the functions. My wedding veil was literally 20 pounds and she did a great job with fixing it, and it stayed at the same place for the entire wedding. I had many questions regarding my wedding look leading up to the wedding but Brishna always made herself available to answer my questions. Thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it.

Quiana is an amazing makeup artist. She did my makeup for my wedding in June of 2014 and I looked and felt gorgeous. I received so many compliments on how beautiful I looked and how flawless my makeup was. Quiana has also done my daughters makeup for her dance recital, giving her a beautiful look fit for a 6 year old dancer. Quiana is very sweet, friendly, and professional at what she does.

I got married in October of 2010 and really wanted to do everything as professionally as possible. Myself, being a Mary Kay Consultant knew I could do my own make up but really wanted to relax. That's when I contacted Kirsty. We talked about what I wanted and set a time and date to do a run through. We did the run through and I knew her technique was perfect for what I was looking for I am Asian with olive skin and I wanted my make up to reflect the season. Kirsty was very professional and open to my ideas and wants. She took the time to meet me at the site of my engagement photos and do my makeup there, making sure I had the perfect face. She also took the time to come to the wedding venue to not only do my makeup but all the ladies in my bridal party. She knew how to bring out the best features of each young lady and make them shine. To this very day people who see my engagement or wedding pictures comment on how beautiful my make up is. Such has an outstand talent combined with a sweet spirit and open mind, I will always ask Kirsty to do my make up, she will never disappoint!

My mom and I hired Joanne for my bridal and bridal party make-up. She was such a pleasure to work with! She offered a trial run so we could play around with different colors and looks which really took a lot of the stress off because I knew exactly what to expect. She was extremely communicative throughout the whole process. On the day of she really took her time and made sure everyone looked perfect. I couldn't have been happier and received so many compliments. I would highly recommend her for any make-up needs!

Cameron did full wedding makeup for me onsite for my event. She came prepared and on time, was patient with me when our timeline got off on the day of, and was very pleasant to work with. Many of my guests came up to me afterwards to tell me how much they liked my makeup and how it really fit my personality. Cameron was 1 of 4 makeup artists I tried before selecting a professional.

How long does a henna tattoo stay on?

Typically a henna tattoo stays on anywhere from one to three weeks. Henna artists work with henna paste, also called mehndi, which dyes the skin for a short period of time. An important part of Indian culture, the use of henna has become increasingly popular in the United States, with henna artists providing henna tattoos for weddings, as event entertainment and for other special events. Henna artists typically apply their designs to the palms and backs of the hands, the wrists, up to the elbows, and from the feet up to the knees. To preserve the rich color of your henna tattoo and help it set, avoid water as much as possible within the first 24 hours of application. The color will be richest during the first week. Brides may want to have their henna tattoos applied one or two days before the wedding for optimal results.

How much do wedding makeup artists cost?

A wedding means love, celebration and tons of wedding photos. Professional wedding makeup artists have you looking your best on your big day and forever after in your wedding photos. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, although this price can increase based on your location, the extent of the makeup services and the reputation of the makeup artist. Most wedding makeup artists offer discounts to brides who book group services for their maids, mothers and flower girls at the same time. Wedding makeup artists who also do wedding hair usually offer package rates for hair and makeup combos. Here are some examples of average wedding makeup pricing:

      • Bridal makeup: $85-$125. Pricing often includes full face, eyes, lips, brows and false eyelashes. Airbrush makeup may be an additional $20 or more.
      • Bridal hair and makeup: $150-$200.
      • Bridesmaid and bridal party makeup: $50-$100 per person.
      • Bridesmaid hair and makeup: $100-$150.
      • Flower girl makeup: $25-$35.
      • Trial sessions: $60-$120, depending on the makeup artist. Some charge their full rate and others charge a partial rate for trial makeup services.
      • Hourly rates to stay on and keep makeup touched up throughout reception: $35-$75 per hour.
      • Travel fees: 50 cents to $1 per additional mile beyond a set radius — such as 50 miles.

Do I need a makeup artist for my wedding?

There are no rules around your wedding day, and that means it’s your choice whether to have a wedding makeup artist. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding makeup artist, consider the pros and cons. Some women decide against a wedding makeup artist to save money. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, which is an expense some women prefer to do without. Other women just don’t love wearing makeup. Some brides have friends or family members who are talented makeup artists willing to provide their services. If you choose not to have a wedding makeup artist, be sure to do at least two trial runs of your makeup look well before the wedding day to avoid any morning-of panic.

On the other hand, a wedding makeup artist can make the bride feel pampered and confident, giving her a flawless, fabulous look for the ceremony and reception and in wedding photos. For brides who are uncomfortable with heavy makeup, many wedding makeup artists usually excel at the natural look. Many brides consider wedding makeup part of the ritual and tradition of the ceremony, a shared experience with the entire bridal party. Ultimately your choice of whether to hire a wedding makeup artist should be based on what will make you feel most confident and happy.

How do you choose the right makeup artist for your wedding?

A wedding makeup artist can ensure a flawless look on your big day. Finding the perfect person isn’t all about price, though. Here are tips for choosing the right makeup artist for your wedding:

      • Research before reaching out. Wedding makeup artists should have an online presence with portfolios of their work. Find someone with an aesthetic you love.
      • Read reviews. You want a wedding makeup artist who’ll be on time, do beautiful work, and add a positive vibe to your day. Pay attention if previous clients report bad experiences with a makeup artist.
      • Consider skin tones. If your bridal party has a range of skin tones, make sure your wedding makeup artist and assistants are experienced and talented working with everyone.
      • Is your top pick available on your date? If so, put down a deposit to secure their services.
      • Confirm rates and payment. Clearly discuss prices and payment plans, and sign a detailed contract so there are no surprises on your wedding day.

What is the meaning behind henna tattoos?

Henna tattoos, as they are called in the United States, have a long tradition in Indian, African and Middle Eastern cultures. For centuries, the leaves of dried henna plants have been ground into a fine paste to be used as a temporary and nontoxic skin dye. This form of body decoration has been used in celebrations, weddings and ceremonial rites of passage in many cultures. Often in Hindu weddings, henna artists decorate the hands and feet of the bride (and at times the groom) with intricate designs. In some Muslim traditions, henna artists paint women with henna designs as they are in their final stages of pregnancy. In the United States, popular culture has adopted this beautiful body art and henna artists provide brides (and sometimes grooms) with temporary henna tattoos. Henna artists are also a popular choice for entertainment at corporate events, birthday parties, bachelorette parties and festivals. Henna artists may charge anywhere from $10 to $300 per hour.
