My initial session with Tod was to establish a baseline since I had taken piano lessons in the last few years. He perfectly asked questions, explained techniques and chords, and watched as I also played and read the music (inadequately). I would recommend Tod to my friends.
I have been a student of Andrew's for four years now. He has always been gentle and supportive. The skills that I have learned from him as a musician and as a performer can't be beat. I am having a successful music career because of what I have learned from him.
Ms Acuna is very innovative, and spectacular with her approach of music and music teaching. She is very thoughtful of her teaching method, explaining every details of what the students need to improve their playing.
My 7 year daughter has been taking private lessons with Hiroko for 2 years, and my 5 year-old son started last year. They are both making good progress. Hiroko is a very supportive teacher, who encourage my kids to enjoy the music as well as to develop correct technique. My daughter has been playing a wide-range of music at her level and enjoys composing little pieces with the help of Hiroko.
Truly cares about the student's success. Willing to be flexible for scheduling voice lessons times. Very knowledgable about the voice and how to produce the best quality of sound.
Responds quickly. My son loves video game music, and Edward is great in this area. For the first lesson, he gave my son a good overview of options.
Adella has been our piano teacher for 2 of our children since they started taking piano lessons 3+ years ago. My children are 3 years apart and have very different personalities, temperaments, and learning styles. Adella has adapted to meet each of their needs and make sure that both are getting the instruction they need, yet by also making it an enjoyable (and fun!) experience. It is very convenient for us that she comes to our house to provide the lessons, and has become like part of our family. Even my child that is too young to take lessons yet, runs to greet Adella upon her arrival each week. Each spring, Adella coordinates a recital which my children look forward to. I highly recommend Adella and continue to be impressed with the progress both of my children have made under her direction.
My 5th grade son has been studying piano with Karmalita since 1st grade. She is incredibly patient, kind and encouraging while also being a stickler about the things that matter. Her love of music and teaching is infectious and infuses the time she spends with her students. My son participates in many other activities as well, so we have chosen not to focus on piano to the exclusion of other things. Karmalita has been very understanding about this decision, and takes him just as seriously as she always has. She expects him to work on his material until it is both technically solid and musically beautiful, but she NEVER pressures our family to make him do more than what works for us. Consequently, I have a son who practices most days, makes steady progress through the Suzuki books, plays well, and loves it! We have had other music teachers in the past (piano, flute and violin) but none so all-around wonderful as Karmalita. I would highly recommend her to any family with a child of any age who wants to learn piano!
I am a student at William and Mary studying linguistics and Spanish. I have been playing piano for 10 years and teaching lessons for 5. I have also played guitar for 5 years and taught lessons for 3. In addition, I have experience tutoring youth of all ages, from elementary school to high school. I would say Spanish is my specialty; my knowledge is extensive, especially instructing at the introductory level. I am a straight A student and am competent to tutor most subjects, but I also have particular previous experience in Algebra. Though I am skilled in presenting material from a textbook or workbook clearly along the format of the class, I also enjoy coming up with creative methods for teaching and tutoring and designing my own exercises.
I've only had one lesson, but his lessons are tailored to the student which is great. He communicates well and leaves no surprises. I highly recommend Marshall.
I worked with Mike over a period of several months last year, I had a goal piece in mind that felt over my head at the time, and he worked with me towards that goal by starting with the basics, some exercises, theory, and instruction on how to practice piano music since I had never had any official instruction, just tinkering by ear that I did when I was younger. Mike paid attention to things I could do to stay motivated as I worked through our lessons and practice time, and when he felt that I was ready for the goal piece we started breaking it down into sections and he guided me through practicing the sections. I did successfully learn my goal piece and still go back and play through it for enjoyment on a regular basis. Really happy with what I learned.
I loved the way he presented music to me, I had been struggling for a long time with the guitar and he got me playing my favorite song in a month, and singing along too!! The class was fun and dynamic so I was never bored or uninterested. Thumbs up!
I am a piano, cello and music theory teacher. I have a BA in Music (Cello Performance, Minor in Piano) earned from a music college in Russia. I am highly professional. Since 2010, my students participated in over 25 recitals and concerts at College of William and Mary, Crosswalk Community Church, King's Way Church, Tabernacle Baptist Church, Greenfield Senior Living, Patriot's Colony, and many other venues. My students also participated in The National Federation of Music Clubs for the last 4 years in a row. All of them received superior rating, and four of them already received Golden Cups. I have been judging piano solo events for the last 3 years. Our recent performing project was playing in the Bard's Market at the Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Three of my students did an exceptional job entertaining the audience by playing a classical piano repertoire. I also provide wedding/special occasion entertainment (cello, piano, and violin) as a trio, duet, solo in any combination.
The good thing about my program students and parents love when you can travel to them to make it easier for them.
I play the trombone, and I offer lessons for trombone and beginner trumpet players. I also offer lessons in music theory. Music is my passion and I enjoy sharing it with others.
