I hired absolute tree surgeons to cut down a very large pine tree. The tree was in a very difficult spot to take down .Brent and his crew cut the tree down with precision. The problem tree was a danger to my house as well as my neiboors and I was amazed with the skill it took to take the huge tree down . I would highly recommend these guys. Ground the stump removed all the debris and cleaned up nice. All of the work at a great price and personal attention. I will be having Brent at my house to do some more work on other tree's and some concrete removal.

Fantastic service, exceptional work, and very pleased with the results! Ryan aims to exceed your expectations. If you have any difficult tree take-downs and tree limbing needs, call Ryan and his team. Very responsive and understanding to my needs and most importantly, they took great care in not damaging my house or any other structures on the property while removing/limbing trees. James is a great tree climber and knows how to direct the grounds crew to lower the limbs or parts of the tree so as not to harm any surrounding areas. Hard working group, and I will certainly call them again for additional work in the future.

Parks pristine is a very professional landscaping company. I was provided quick, free estimates of landscaping work for my property and was scheduled for what I wanted done right away. I initially wanted to only have lawn maintenance twice a month but with the amount of rain and subsequent lawn growth, I had to change to every week. Parks pristine was able to make that change for me without hesitation.

My front lawn was a big mound with the remains of an old pine tree in the middle. Land levelers removed the old stump and decaying root system and corrected the grade with respect to the sidewalk and driveway. Finally seeded for a new lawn. All done in a timely manner.

We cannot use herbicides on the property and Devin worked us to still do the needed weed control. They clearly care fr and love what they do as the pride shows in their work. So much so, Devins brother shared that he had known that since he was 6 years old he wanted to runs landscaping business!

I wanted a dwarf Japanese maple in my flower bed- they are hard to find!! Jerry went out of his way to find one. He was particular with what he planted after I told him what i wanted. He is personable and takes pride in his work. He made sure I was happy with his choices before he put anything in the ground. And I LOVE my tree, lol! 😊

Greg was the only person to respond to my request. Maybe the others thought the job was too small but I had a short time frame within which to work. Greg not only got the job done quickly, he did some preventive maintenance to hopefully eliminate the need for the same type of repair in the near future. Polite, professional, responsive. Would definitely use him again. Thanks so much!

All I can say about this company is WOW!!!! I have never been more impressed with a company I have hired. We had some construction waste to get rid of in Sandbridge in Virginia Beach. Sunnyside was the first to respond, but when I saw they are from Smithfield, VA I contacted another company since we are 1 1/2 hours away. Believe it or not, they contacted me and said they would be here in a few hours. Sure enough, they came and were the most pleasant guys and worked very quickly to remove our junk. I was amazed at the positive attitudes and work ethics, so I have already hired them again to come cut down a tree! Literally, don't get any other quotes, go with Sunnyside Landscaping for anything you need done around your house! Truly honest guys that work hard.

Not prepared to remove cuttings. Cut too much...tree may not survive. This might be a better company for tree removal not trimming. They cleaned up the site well.

Jay from A Tree MD really impressed me with his tree knowledge and skills. I had three overgrown Bradford Pears that he crowned reduced, which was a term he explained to me. They look amazing and it really made my front yard look 100 times better. Thank you Jay.

They texted me and I sent them over to my house after I texted my husband that they were coming to do an estimate as they were in the neighborhood on another job. He hired them on the spot, not understanding that by "estimate," I meant estimate. So I can't review their rates. (Sorry other Thumbtack responders whose appointments I had to cancel.) Well, they did all I wanted and cleaned up well afterwards. It was $300 for about an hour's cutting, including branches above two houses and a garage and then a haul away. My neighbor watched and thought they were terrific and more than fairly priced.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
