We unfortunately only attended one of Bryan's drum lessons .(only because my four year old wouldn't practice). Bryan was great! He even had on Aladdin, upon us arriving which made my daughter extra comfortable. It was a great ice breaker for them to talk about. I would absolutely recommend Bryan to anyone needing drum lessons ages kids to adult.
Janet is extremely professional and warm. Voice lessons can be very personal, and Janet achieves the balance between guidance and connecting with you as a person and a musician. I had been singing for about ten years when I worked with her, and was looking to improve on my technique, so finding a voice teacher who could teach adults with experience was imperative to me. I enjoyed my lessons with her and continue to use several of the warm-ups and vocal drills that I learned while working with her.
Really enjoyed the first lesson. Jordan had great feedback and ways to help vocal issues.
For nearly a decade I have toyed with the idea of taking singing lessons, but just recently did I finally work up the courage to do it. I have always enjoyed singing but never liked how I sounded or had the confidence to perform in front of other people. Now I have been taking lessons from Andrea since the start of the year and in just the first couple of lessons I began to hear an immediate improvement. As I continue to work with Andrea I am discovering a whole new voice that I never knew I had! I look forward to continuing to develop and improve my singing abilities with her. She is fun to work with, has an intuitive feel for finding the right techniques to help each student and also manages to sneak in some great all around life advice and encouragement as well. One of the most profound things she has taught me in our lessons had nothing to do with singing at all!
Started taking singing lessons with Maddy as a complete beginner. She's been so kind, patient, and supportive and is wonderful about explaining how the voice works. I highly recommend her!!
Minami taught piano to my 5-year old for about a year. I wasn't sure if my daughter was actually capable of learning much about music yet, but Minami did a great job getting her to the point of doing a little recital of a simple song, and I could tell there that my child had learned a fair amount and also had a good time doing it. Ability to teach in Japanese was also a plus for us. By default I think Minami doesn't push kids as young as that too hard. We didn't push our daughter to practice much between lessons and Minami didn't push for that either. But I think she can give students more strict assignments to practice if the parents so desire.
Jeremy has exceeded my expectations in every way. The lessons have challenged me while at the same time given me the guidance to make real progress. Not only would I recommend him to friends and family. I already have.
Vannessa has been providing voice lessons to my 10 year old for a month now and the student is enjoying them immensly.
Scott has an incredible ability to tap into his student's skill-set and transform them entirely. With his vast and vibrant musical background in vocal performance, composition, recording, and production in various genres of music, he provides an extensive and dynamic experience for his students. Scott also has a deep understanding of proper vocal health and such knowledge extends to the techniques and exercises in which he conducts in his lessons. He can take voices in several directions, stretching students' abilities to new lengths. Scott is truly one of a kind and his lessons extend well past vocal training, into situations that apply to everyday life. Scott has been pivotal in shaping my musicianship and musical identity and I strongly recommend his vocal training lessons.
Anna is very knowledgable and explains techniques clearly. We have a lot of fun at our lessons, but at the same time quite a bit of progress is made.
Cayce embodied all of the above qualities and beyond. I learned so many valuable lessons from her -- ones that have shaped me as a vocalist and an individual. Her heart for students and music continues to inspire me, and her passion has given me a reflection of the depth and beauty that lies in being a musician.
I took voice lessons from Terry. I had never taken any lessons before. I was so nervous, but Terry was very patient & kind. He is conscientious. I wasn't able to continue, but if I could, I would definitely see him again!!
Love this school! It's been great experience for both of my kids. We've been taking piano and guitar lessons for last 4 years
Excited to be working with Kiki for my daughter's piano lessons.
I have been studying Vocals with Sami for 2 years. He is an amazing instructor, he is patient, kind and a blast to learn with. Every lesson is designed for me based on my progression from the week prior. He is always available to speak even when I don't have lessons to offer additional help. Thank you Sami for helping me become a better singer.
My experience with Merlyn's Music Studio was absolutely amazing. Merlyn Ahern is a jewel, and hands down the best music instructor that I've ever trained with. She has an impeccable ear for music, and she never fails to bring out the best in each of her students. I couldn't have imagined training with anyone other than her to prepare myself for my performance in the 2015 Miss Black USA Scholorship Pageant. Not only did I receive a standing ovation from the audience for my talent performance, I also received a score of 136 out of 140 from the judges!!! I couldn't have done it without her. She is the BEST!!! -De'Vaughnn Williams, Miss. Black Washington USA 2015 & 2016.
I love teaching music - piano, voice, and marimba. My many years of working with children and adults has given me insight on how to teach -- for each individual. My goal is for the student to enjoy learning, have fun and desire to play or sing - for self and/or share the joy of music with others.
Learning to sing is fun! You can do it. Even if you might think that you can't sing, I bet you can! It's all about patience, listening, and practice. All voice lessons are tailored to the student's abilities and interests. I will work with your individual vocal needs by developing an appropriate vocal technique. This means releasing the sound, breathing, getting an effective, efficient tone, and extending the range where necessary. We will explore various vocal styles, musical theory, and improvisation too. I teach a broad range of styles from musical theatre, folk, Celtic, rock, contemporary, jazz, and some classical. My students vary in age and ability. The foundation of good singing is the same for all styles. I do not accept just anyone as a student. I prefer to teach people who really want to learn and have a passion for what they do. How long will this take? Well, that depends on your goals. Students ages 5-11 usually schedule a 30 minute lesson, while students age 12 through adult may feel that a 45 or 60 minute lesson will do the trick. Just as for any other instrument, weekly lessons are essential. If a student is really motivated to train their voice, a regular lesson time and regular home practice is necessary to hear and feel results. What are your goals? Having goals for voice lessons is so helpful! Do you want to audition for musicals, community theater or college acceptance auditions? Do you want to sing for friends and family or have dreams of going professional? Do you want to inspire confidence within yourself to just sing out listening to the radio? All of these goals are attainable! I will work with you to reach your goals! You can do this! It's all a part of us! Students may bring material they wish to work on, and I will recommend music that would be appropriate for their voice type. New students may start at any time during the year. Tuition payments are made monthly. Rates are $115 a month for 4 - 30 minute lessons, $173 for 4 - 45 minute lessons and $230 for 4 - 60 minute lessons. Students are required to purchase their own books.
I enjoy seeing my students improve themselves, I believe in fun learning but I also think that their improvement is part of their discipline.
Lessons are held in my home studio located in the Hawks Prairie Area of Lacey, WA. Piano Lessons: $23.50/30 minute lesson $34.00/45 minute lesson Voice Lessons: $23.50/30 minute lesson $34.00/45 minute lesson Lessons are weekly during the normal school year. Summer lessons are optional. Payment is expected at the first lesson of each month for however many lessons land in that month, not including holidays. Parents are welcome and encouraged to sit in on the child's lesson. I am a passionate teacher and love children! I am not your typical piano teacher most people associate with. I strive to make my studio a welcoming and inviting place for student's to learn and grow. I give out prizes and stickers to help motivate my students. I hold two recitals a year where students have the opportunity to perform the pieces they have been working on. I would love to set up a free trial lesson to see if we make a good fit!
I teach tech in singing and using your voice to your full potential. I teach vocal exercises, breathing control, and vocal relaxation.
