Working with Hannah has been a life changing experience. She is a professional that can accommodate all levels of fitness from the elderly to the adolescent. In my case , I am middle aged and was out of shape with limited range of motion and little muscle mass. The results I've experience, which takes time and patience, have been due to being steady and consistent and trusting Hannah as my guide. She has been there 110% and helped me find confidence and strength I didn't think I had. I managed to stay focused on my goal to get strong and fi without getting hurt. I highly recommend her as a trainer, coach and fitness expert.

People pay attention when James Donaldson enters the room. At 7'2" he's as impressive physically as is his warm, outgoing personality. His career as an outstanding NBA player coupled with his long-standing experience as a business entrepreneur give him a depth of fascinating material to share with his audiences. Above all, he's a man of integrity who always puts others first.

Lalainya is a gifted energy worker, teacher, and coach. She was able to intuitvely peer into the subtle dimensions of my life and help me work through blockages. She showed me how to resolve issues and change my belief patterns. I actually can't imagine what my life would be like without her support. My relationships are better; my daily living is healthier; even my finances improved drastically after she coached me in seeing new opportunities and valuing myself and my time. I highly recommend her services!

I have often thought I needed a coach and did not have a clue how to find one or how to know when I had found the coach I needed. I am so very fortunate to find Keith Thompson. What I liked most about Keith is he went below the surface to help me discover what was holding me back. It was not just having me do a series of tasks. It was that of course and I learned what was holding me back and how to correct it forever. He is an outstanding listener and ask the right questions to stimulate my thoughts. If you are looking for a great coach, look no further.

I’m glad I didn’t click away, working with Anthon was the best career decision I ever made. I first signed onto thumbtack when I was going through a career change, and needed someone to help me with my resume. When Anthon sent me his profile initially, I thought to myself, this guy has got to be too good to be true, he had industry experience from Microsoft, had reviewed over 50,000 resumes, and hired over 2000 engineer. I was excited and skeptical at first, but it turned out to be a great match. Anthon not only optimized my resume, he used his network to set me up with mock interviews so I could get practice with real engineers. He introduced me to tons of closed networking groups where jobs are advertised, and was willing to use all his resources to help me achieve my goal of breaking into the tech industry. I started talking to Anthon around December, and by mid february, I had received a great job offer, but he didn’t stop there. He helped me create a model for salary negotiation which got me a 10k raise on my offer. It’s a no brainer who you should work with, because Anthon is the best person for the job.

My first job out of college was a nightmare that I didn't know how to wake up from. Sarah worked with me for 8 weeks, and in 9 weeks I had found another career path for myself. My experience with Sarah didn't end there. I received mentorship and life coaching during that time, but the journey continued. I know Sarah will always be supporting and guiding me on that journey for years to come. Working with her is a more than a career jump or timeline, it is life altering and lasts years.

Every coach needs a coach. Every intuitive needs another intuitive. Shirahz is the best of both worlds. She has depth, is knowledgeable and present during every session, and she helps me clear soul, generational, and other blocks every time we do the work together. Because I'm ready for change and ready to do the hard work of being vulnerable, honest, and really looking at the trauma in my life, Shirahz is helping me bring the good back into my life in amazing ways. I can't say enough good things about this gifted woman. She finishes my thoughts -- and few ever even come close to that level of intimate knowledge without years and years of proving loyalty! If you have a Capricorn in your life, you know exactly what I mean when I say that we can be the most secretive, isolated individuals when we don't want anyone "in our way" and that tends to limit most Capricorns in all ways social. We just don't "trust" others. It becomes our greatest comfort and despair. Shirahz has enabled me to blossom in a mere short 4 weeks of working together through level one of Sacred Coaching's extensive, "brutal" 6 week courses. I am so full of love and gratitude for the divine work here and for Shirahz's incredible personality, capacity for love, and her talent of helping me rekindle my buried gifts, so that I can shine again in my own life and in the lives of those I am meant to touch.

    About

At a crossroads? Ready to change your work path, but don't know which direction to move in? What if you could define your most delightful work, and step toward a career (and life!) you truly love? My name is Sara McArdle, and I coach women to find the clarity, courage and momentum they need to step into a deeper vocation and a life of meaning and fulfillment. Dreamy, right? Because if you’re like many of my clients, bored or burned out in your field, and it's impacting your well-being. For one reason or another, what you're doing isn't really "you." Parts of it fit, but others don't. And there's just something missing... You may have jumped from job to job, hoping you’ll be happier with a new employer, or with a new title. But, once you get settled in, you’re really no more fulfilled than you were before. Or, maybe the security, pay, benefits and reputation you've earned have kept you where you are. Besides, you've already invested so much! Until now, you've been going through the motions and rationalizing that there are enough decent days at work to keep you going back for more. You may even have a dream that's hard to admit to yourself or say aloud, let alone work toward. I feel you, and I’ve got your back. My programs are designed to help you leave the daily grind behind. We’ll shine a light on which areas of your life are supporting your career change and which ones are holding you back, and we’ll uncover your deepest values and hidden talents. You’ll clarify the work you’re called to do, you’ll have a road map and strategies to get from here to there and you’ll begin to move forward in a new direction. Why me? Well, I’ve been down the road of career change, myself. I certainly wasn't born with a clear "calling.” I picked my field in one, five-minute conversation when I was 17 years old. And while I knew as soon as I started working professionally that something was missing, it took me 20 years to try something different. I wish I’d known how much more quickly and easily I could find fulfillment, with the right help! I have the credentials, too. I’m a Certified Whole Person Coach through Coach Training World, an ICF-credentialed program in Portland, Oregon. I’ve also been practicing NVC since 2013—a discipline that helps people transform their negative self-talk and take actions that bring increasingly greater satisfaction. More than anything, I love to help others make the rest of their lives the best of their lives. Why wait another minute to connect with your calling and do what makes you come alive? Let’s go!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

    • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
    • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
    • Defining your career goals
    • Creating a plan for job searching
    • Improving networking strategies and skills
    • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
    • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
    • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

    Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

    • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
    • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
    • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
    • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
    • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
    • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
    • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

    What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.
