Honestly we chose these movers because they were the most affordable so my expectations were low, and they were far exceeded. They wrapped the furniture very carefully and worked hard. We really appreciated how fast they were able to work, and that they provided and drove the moving truck so one less detail to sort out. Scheduling was easy too. Highly recommend.

He had a difficult time locating the address, totally understandable so we got a late start. But he picked up, delivered my bed from Seattle to Federal Way. He also reassembled it and carried on a piece of furniture I was storing in my car that I had purchased the day before. His price was very reasonable for the time and distance. I would definitely use him again in the future should the need arise! 0

Fantastic movers! They are the best movers I have ever moved with. Carlos was the lead man & worked so well with Nick and Ivan. They were so careful to wrap all my large paintings, white lacquer furniture and white leather chairs with shrink wrap then in blankets. Large flat-screen TV's arrived in perfect condition. Definitely would use them again. Leslie

Ron sent some really great guys. Jeff and Reginald were amazing. Although we were unprepared for this move, the moving costs from Moving Mass were more than we expected or what we had paid other movers. Otherwise, that was our only negative.

I'm definitely passing down this companies info. They can early/ move furniture like some true movers (no time for games type of movers lol).. I will be contacted them in one year to move me into my house. I hope their business prosper. Sincerely, Crystal

We are pretty satisfied by Moving2Gether's services. 1. Scheduling is efficient. We contacted and schedule the move the night before our moving date. 2. During the moving date, they packed our stuff pretty well. Everything was well protected. 3. We had a pretty heavy and big King-sized mattress, they handled that well too. 4. The movers are professional, patient and productive. They communicated with us about how to deal with our stuff. 5. Prices and extra costs were well explained. One issue was that the movers arrived half an hour late based on the schedule. Overall, they did a pretty good job.

We’re so glad we hired these movers. We hired them less than 48 hours in advance to move all our furniture and they were very flexible and reasonable in cost. They even dissembled some furniture and reinstalled our washer and dryer. Great guys!

Michael contacted me and and in a very respectful, optimistic manner explained how he was going to take care of moving my family's things. His quote and explanation and follow up answers to all of my questions made me feel the most comfortable - even when compared to other companies with many positive ratings. His actions and those of his crew were more than true to his word. And even though I had more stuff to move than I even realized I had, they were fast workers, always being polite and respectful about their surroundings, with my items, and to my family. After 10 hours of moving my household in the cold, at 7 at night they left to go move another person they had promised to help! I can't begin to say enough positive things about Tetris Moving. These are going to be a tour de force in the future and standard by which all movers will compared to. Hire them you won't be disappointed. While I hope I don't have to move again, if I do, I'm only making one call and it's to Tetris!

Enrique came to repair a leaking bathtub faucet, and to service our furnace. He was prompt, professional, and kept me informed every step of the way, including potential costs. The furnace was quickly repaired. He discovered that the faucet was leaking behind the wall, caused by a connection of PVC pipe to a copper intersection. He consulted me with the cost and choice of materials and labor, prior to purchasing, and was thorough and efficient, as well as courteous and professional. He completed the job, returning on the following day (a Sunday) to make sure the connections were properly fixed to prevent another leak, and also to replace the wall board. He is knowledgeable, and left the bathroom, bedroom wallboard, and floor clean when the repair was complete. He charged exactly as quoted, and provided receipts for the replacement parts. I highly recommend him for handyman services, and wouldn't hesitate to call him again if we need plumbing, painting/drywall, water heater, or furnace repairs.

5 star for the the service and handling of my items. I am giving 4 starts because: -Team arrived 1hr15minutes late than the scheduled time. -The given quote was too underestimated. Initially, the quote provided to me was $325(for 3 hours) . I verified too over the phone that how much it would cost in total. I was told that it can go max till $435. But I was charged $545 actually because it actually took 5 hours. There were other movers available with better offers, if the correct estimates were provided then I would have gone with other mover who was giving a better offer. I was getting $100 cheaper from other movers for the same(5 hours) of the duration. I do not expect so much wrong estimation from experienced movers like PNW Moving.

Express Movers are the best movers ever!! Here’s the story: Learned I was moving from Seattle on Wednesday before Labor Day. Had to be moved by Sunday. Searched for a mover who would take the job with such short notice and at a reasonable fee. Checked the BBB, and other review sites and found Express Movers. I explained to the owner that I had a LOT of stuff to pack and move. I was unable to help with the move as I had suffered a compression fractured vertebrae. She was able to schedule the move to take place over two days, Friday and Saturday. She gave me a quote that was within my price range. And, she locked the bid so that I would not be faced with additional costs. Come Friday Express Movers showed up on time with the contract that matched the bid. Three men worked for 12 hours and a fourth for 6 hours to do the packing and loading of everything into the truck. All of the men were professional, organized, courteous and not one of them complained about the amount of work to be done. I especially appreciated Vaughn’s (the supervisor), and his brother Vaughnito’s friendly attitudes. When they were done I drove 120 miles to my new home while the movers stored the truck in a secure lot overnight. Saturday two of the movers drove stop-and-go on I-5 for hours because of the holiday traffic. When they arrived they unloaded everything into two storage spaces. Once again they went beyond what any reasonable person would have expected and made the move painless for me. Express Movers got the job done beautifully despite: • the late notice • the huge amount of stuff to pack, load, and move • my inability to help • the distance they had to drive through terrible traffic • and the low bid they gave me Express Movers went above and beyond anything I could have expected. The entire move became a hassle free experience for me. When you need to move and want the very best hire Express Movers!! I recommend them wholeheartedly with no reservations!! You will never regret it!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
