FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have loved music as long as I can remember, and jazz music since I was 14 years old. But I never thought I would be a professional musician. Instead, I pursued academia, studying mathematics and philosophy at Harvard University and Artificial Intelligence at Stanford University. Five years into my Ph.D. I decided to make a big life-change. I soon started playing music full-time. That was over 25 years ago, and I haven't looked back. Since then I've toured and recorded extensively, and played with some of the world's greatest jazz musicians. Performing and teaching music it's not an easy career, but the joys of it are amazing!
- What types of customers have you worked with?
I've taught students ranging from relative beginners, with basic instrumental facility and a love of jazz, to advanced students at SFJAZZ, The Brubeck Institute and the California Jazz Conservatory who have gone on to perform with the some of the biggest names in jazz and pop music.
