Jorge and his crew did a great job on our condo projects as we were getting it ready to rent out. They stuck to the timetable and everything was finished a day ahead of schedule which was a huge bonus! We had them paint the kitchen cabinets and walls, and install new tile in the kitchen. They also painted 5 doors for us, and two bedrooms (walls only), as well as bathroom trim. Jorge is skilled and so is his crew. We will need hire them in the future!

The team did a great job forming a concrete wall, steps, and driveway apron. This was not an easy job, with some hand work, forming, and a lot of concrete finish work, requiring attention to detail. I was really happy they cleaned up promptly and was overall pleased with the work they did.

Steve transformed my house by turning a rickety wooden front porch into a beautiful brick and concrete entry environment. The home was built in 1927 and his renovation looks like it always belonged to the home, but better.

GGM was professional, incredibly easy to work with, and amazingly unintrusive during installation of our countertops. We worked directly with Erik - and he was so helpful with helping us make design decisions. The end result - BETTER than anything I had imagined. We will use them again when it is time to do our bathrooms. And I will tell everyone who will listen that they should use GGM for their projects. So thankful I went to Thumbtack and found them.

Very Satisfied Customer: Patrick with Glacier Peak Concrete poured a concrete floor in our very low headroom crawl space. From the first meeting to project end, Patrick was professional and courteous. He made sure to explain all aspects of the job, including concrete selection and was happy to answer questions. The job itself was not glamorous but it was something we needed done and we greatly appreciated Patrick's consideration of our needs and special circumstances. The concrete line had to be brought through the house. Patrick spent a lot of time ensuring that our hardwood floors were well protected and, at the end of the job, he and crew carefully cleaned up. Overall, the service my family received was outstanding and we would highly recommend Glacier Peak Concrete without hesitation.

Working with TJ was great. He responded to my request for help immediately and was out at my place the next day! He assisted me with various handyman projects such as drywall repair, range hood installation, and floor transition piece installation. His quality of work was very good and I would absolutely use him again.

Sunrise Concrete was the first to call and ask about the nature of the job. He came over that same day to review the job and talk it through with me. Sunrise Concrete did a very good job matching the texture of the new concrete to our existing concrete. Sunrise ripped up the damaged concrete, created a form for pouring new concrete and then poured. Sunrise was knowledgeable, responsive and a very good value. I would recommend Sunrise Concrete as well as use them again.

Kevin and his crew were awesome. We initially hired them to cover some of our brick exterior with Stucco. There was a mix-up with how the color appeared once it was applied but Kevin helped to get that cleared up and we are really happy with his work. We ended up also hiring Kevin to replace our old asphalt driveway with concrete and once again he and his team knocked it out of the park. I will definitely be using Kevin again for any future projects that his team can do.

After hiring someone else to replace and pour a new concrete driveway, I went to Homeadvisor.com and found Construction R Us, LLC. Lisiate (Richard) came right away and gave me a quote. He did not require most of the money up front, only a $100 deposit. (The other contractor I spoke with - not a Home Advisor contractor - wanted most of the money up front.) Construction R Us, LLC did exactly what they said they were going to do. In fact they were able to do the project a day earlier, which really helped us out tremendously. The driveway looks great and is a definite upgrade from what we had before. I highly recommend Construction R Us, LLC!!

We had a previous contractor come in and not only waste a lot of materials, but destroy a potentially good tile job. Marin gave us a hard choice, to either repour a subfloor or level with concrete removal. It was worth it. His team came in, repoured, leveled, installed tile, and our new floor is PERFECTION. Not inexpensive, but the work is the best I've seen. We'll be having them do our bathrooms as we continue our remodel. Thanks so much!!!

Leslie and his team were affordable, professional, and accommodating to our request to install a concrete walkway. The work was so good, we increased the scope of the job to include an additional walkway and some driveway edgework. We did an exposed aggregate surface, and the work they did merged seamlessly with the prior concrete. The rates were fair, and if we thought they were a little off, it was an easy conversation to see if there was anything that could be done to reduce costs through changing the scope of the job. His team works hard, gets the work done quickly, and they are all very friendly. We will definitely reach out to Leslie Construction again if we need any concrete performed. I think they do other work too, so when other jobs come up, we will certainly reach out to Leslie to see if it is something they can do at a fair price. Highly recommended for concrete work and possibly other work as well.

We had a concrete driveway, walkway, and backyard patio installed by Joe and his crew at Olympic Concrete & Landscape. They were very professional and did a fantastic job! The price was competitive and they were very easy to work with and provided excellent advice. The crew moved some landscaping, removed unwanted materials, and cleaned up the worksite after all the work was completed. We will definitely be using them again should the need arise.

Drove from the Seattle area to rural Belfair and worked very hard to cut my parents concrete driveway. I would recommend this company ten out of ten times. The effort, value, professionalism and quality was more than I’d expect from any company. We were quoted one price and even after the work ended up being more than bargained for, he kept his word. He even had to get extra tools at his cost and time because the concrete was thicker than expected and very well set. We paid him for the extra efforts because he put in an extreme effort for my parents.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
    • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
    • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
    • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
    • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
    • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.

    What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.
