Introduction Hello! My name is Cameron Brownell, and I've been working within Seattle's music industry for the last 10 years. I have a passion for sharing music with my community. I have participated in professional musical acts, live and in studio. I have played music festivals, toured the country, and I have more than 20 releases out online. I have worked audio-related jobs as my primary source of income for the last 9 years, ranging from studio work to corporate technology support. Here's the truth about the music industry today... artists have to be more than musicians. They need to be able to write, produce, record, mix, edit, master, distribute, and promote their music. It's a lot, and I want to help! I started producing when I was about 12 years old. You don't need fancy equipment and software to make great music. These days, it's important to learn music software as early as possible, especially if you're already learning an instrument. I can teach all levels for music and audio production, but my primary demographic is young folks. Kids 4th grade and up, to be exact. But I'm happy to work with anyone wanting to improve their music producing abilities. Courses and Curriculum Below are the two courses that I offer. Music Production - The music production course might be considered the more musical course. This is for students who might already play an instrument, and they are interested in writing and producing on their own. We will cover basic music theory, song arrangement, recording, mixing, mastering, live performance, and music business. Along with weekly assignments, this course will prioritize the student’s own compositions from start to finish. Audio Engineering - This course is a bit more technical, and less focused on the student’s own compositions. We will prioritize learning proper recording techniques, using different DAWs, mixing, and mastering. Along with weekly assignments, this course will prioritize learning how to run a client’s recording, mixing, and mastering session from start to finish. These courses can be blended to the student’s specific needs and skills. Each course will include teachings from the following topics… - Critical listening and ear training - Songwriting, arrangement, and music theory - Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) - Dynamics: compression, expansion, and limiting - Equalization (EQ) - Special effects: reverb, delay, harmonics, etc… - Microphone identification and recording techniques - Audio hardware identification and usage - Midi controllers and electronic music performance - Audio editting - Mixing - Mastering - Beginner level intro to physics of sound - Independent music distribution (How do I get my song on Spotify/TikTok?) - Music promotion and campaigning Supplies I’m willing to work within your budget! There are free programs out there we can use to get you started. You will need a computer or laptop. If you do not have access to one, let’s chat. There may be ways to find a donation together.See more
