My husband and I found Lynn on this website and met her in a Starbucks. She is the nicest lady you will ever meet and she really is passionate about her job. My son got sick and we wern't able to meet up with her the first time we scheduled to and she was so understanding and it was only about 2 weeks before my actual wedding and she was super relaxed about it even though the wedding was in a short time. Another thing that is absolutely wonderful about Lynn is she sends you ideas for the vows. This was great because I had NO idea what I wanted. Also, what she charges is not bad at all. The first wedding officient I looked at charged $300. Lynn charges half of that and well worth it! She earns every penny :)

Heather LaFond and Defiant Fitness has changed my life. Walking into a new place can be scary, but I finally found an environment I felt comfortable working out in. They offer a variety of classes and challenges throughout the year with nutrition coaching to help you reach your goals. I have lost 60 lbs since starting here last fall and I couldn't be happier! I feel strong and look forward to working out each day. Heather is supportive and always there to help if you need someone to talk to. Love this place!

Lynn has opened my eyes to nutrition. There's so much more to it than just what you eat. Your mind set, your surroundings and so much more. She looks into all that, and takes time to get to know who you are as a person. From that she develops and works with you to figure out the best way to hit your goals. And in the process help you find the self confidence you may have lost. For me Lynn is an amazing nutrition coach, person, and anyone would benefit to have her in their lives.

Laurie is the power in your corner that you need to help claim your greater personal power. She is a skilled and seasoned coach who will guide you toward all you want to accomplish in life, and in business. Asside from her friendly nature, she is incredibly easy to relate to and speak with. What I loved most, is that this is not the typical 'someone tells you what you should do type of experience." With that approach, someone was doing the work for me. Instead, Laurie infuses you with expert tools, so you can begin seeing and knowing, from within, on how to observe yourself objectively and show yourself what to do, and do better. She has amazing exercies that open many opportunities for growth. Laurie was exactly who I needed to help me ignite the change I wanted so desperately. She allowed me to spread my wings and carry forward in confidence. I will forever refer her.

Working with Lisa as my Life Coach has helped me in my current job which was draining me down as well as my personal home life which can be very stressful. The tools that Lisa has provided me with and worked with me on have made a huge impact on my day to day in life balancing work and home making things clearer for me. I would recommend Lisa's service to anyone who feels overwhelmed and over stressed in your day to day lives. It's much better to go the journey with a Life Coach for support and learning versus trying to figure things out on your own.

What is a career coach?

If you’re interested in furthering your career and want expert help, a career coach is a smart solution. A career coach is a professional you hire to guide you during a job search or a career transition, or to help you improve and advance in your current position. A career coach analyzes your work situation and learns what your professional goals are. They then create a strategy to help you achieve your targets. Throughout the process they should provide objective feedback and guide you in approaching the process strategically. Here are some of the tools and tasks a career coach may assist you with:

  • Helping you build a strong resume that reflects your work history, potential, and skills
  • Coaching for interviews and strategies for solid answers built around your resume and the target job
  • Defining your career goals
  • Creating a plan for job searching
  • Improving networking strategies and skills
  • Developing strategies for negotiating raises or promotions
  • Assessing why you’re not getting where you want to go
  • Identifying new positions or career opportunities that fit your skills

Why is career counseling important?

Career counseling can help you discover your career path, help you overcome challenges preventing you from finding happiness in your job, or help you learn more about career opportunities that are available to you. Career counselors are typically counselors who specialize in helping guide people into their best career choices. As professionals, they have typically completed a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career counseling and bring a nuanced understanding of the emotional blocks that prevent someone from doing what they love or getting ahead in their current position. Here are some of the ways that career counseling can help:

  • Identify your skills and talents and how they correlate to different career paths
  • Educate you about the educational requirements for launching in various careers and what earnings can look like
  • Help you understand the kind of environment you want to work in, and which careers are best suited for that
  • See opportunities to transfer your existing skill set to other career areas
  • Help you identify causes of tension or unhappiness in your current career and how to overcome those difficulties
  • Help you create a game plan for moving forward
  • Provide a safe space for you to understand your feelings about career choices you’re making

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

A career coach provides one-on-one sessions to help you reach your career goals or overcome any challenges you’re having in your career path. The cost to have career coaching can vary based on factors such as the number of sessions you purchase at one time and the experience and rates of your counselor. Career counselors are typically professionals who have earned at least a master’s degree in their field. Based on their academic background, supplemental certifications they have received, and any postdoctoral work they have done, their rates may vary. Typically career counselors offer reduced rates when you sign on for their services on an ongoing basis. A typical price range for career counseling services (nationally) could be $75-$150 per session. Remember to always ask if the career counselor offers a complimentary introductory session. You want to make sure the relationship will be the right personality and counseling style fit to help launch your confidence and upcoming career changes.

How much does it cost to hire a career coach?

When it’s time to take your career to the next level, it’s time to hire a career coach. The cost to have a career coach help you with your professional journey will vary based on how many sessions you require, the level of coaching you desire, and the rates of the coach as determined by their experience, expertise, education and training. On average, career coaching sessions can range from 60 to 120 minutes, depending on the professional and what your needs are. Career coaches in smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living will also typically have lower rates than those residing in large metro areas like New York, although most do offer remote coaching. Many coaches also offer a free introductory consultation, which gives you the opportunity to determine if their personality and coaching style are the right fit. It’s helpful to ask the coach about their relevant experience and get references from former clients. Depending on the professional, session rates could range anywhere from under $60 to well over $250 per session. Package discounts are a good way to commit to the relationship as well as get savings on services.

What is a career counselor?

If you’re feeling lost in your career path, overwhelmed, in need of a job but confused as where to start, or ready for change but uncertain what you want, a career counselor is a good choice for you. A career counselor is typically a licensed professional who has earned a master’s degree in counseling — likely with an emphasis on career counseling. Each state has different licensing requirements for career counselors, so be sure to research before reaching out to a pro.

Due to their academic backgrounds, career counselors often have a more holistic and in-depth approach than a career coach. Career coaches are not regulated by states and also tend to be more business-focused — a good fit for those who know what they want but need help achieving it. On the other hand, a career counselor provides guidance and clarity around some of the more emotional aspects that job hunting and career movement entail. Career counselors meet with you in a series of one-on-one sessions. They assess your personality and learn what drives you. They get a detailed understanding of your work history and your hopes, and often work to help you discover any internal blocks preventing you from going where you want to go. Hiring a career counselor is appropriate at any time in your career, from recent graduate to executive-level management.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
