Kristen was awesome! I had here this past year through the voice lessons that the University of Michigan's School of Music, Theater and Dance offers non-performance majors. She's taught me a lot of different techniques, many of which I have never seen before (I've been in voice lessons for five years). She helped me develop my voice greatly, and I hear a huge difference from where I was a year ago. I sound more mature, I have more stamina and my technique is much safer. If you're looking for a vocal coach, I would highly recommend going to her!

My daughter has been going to Dr. Richie for approximately 3yrs now. Although I knew my daughter could sing, the personal instruction that she has received has been phenomenal. She went to state in Wsma as a freshman, and did well. As she continues her lessons, she continues to learn and grow with her voice. All in all, I'm thankful for Dr.Richie and that she has taught my daughter thus far. Shara

I loved my time with Rachel as my teacher! She is hilarious and kind, but also can always find room for improvement. Her song choices were fun, but she also is open to students picking songs. She specifically helped me with my problem of tightening up on the high notes. She is very accountable - definitely the most reliable voice teacher I've had. I've been taking voice lessons since I was five years old and started taking from Rachel when I was 20 and going to Northwestern University. Graduate students there have the opportunity to teach non-voice major singing lessons. Some of the teachers are clearly not into it, but Rachel approached the job with enthusiasm and compassion for her students. She even helped me find local auditions that she thought would suit my voice and helped me schedule and primp for my headshots. To give you an idea of repertoire, we worked on a good mix of classical and Broadway (and a lot of Broadway classics!). She also arranged a performance opportunity for us - a recital at her local church. I should also note that Rachel's piano skills are certainly up to par. I don't think she performs piano solos, but it was more than enough for our lessons. Of all my voice teachers, Rachel has been my favorite (and I have had five). I would highly recommend her to anyone. You would be lucky to study with her!

My daughter had been taking voice lessons for about 5 years somewhere else and we switched over to Jeni over a year ago. Huge difference between the other place and her. She is an excellent voice teacher and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a voice teacher.

Working with Emily was a wonderful experience! Over the course of several months, I took numerous voice lessons with her in the hopes of improving my singing skills. I am happy to say that Emily helped me reach my personal goals, thanks to her outstanding credentials and attention to detail. Emily encouraged and challenged me to push past my comfort zone and try new techniques. She was always flexible with arranging lessons, understanding my needs, addressing my concerns, and helping me reach my full potential. I highly recommend Emily to those who are interested in improving their vocal skills!

A little background on where I come from vocally: I've been in choirs since 2007 in various ranges. I started studying music theory in 2011 and have taken private lessons (classical style) at the local community college where my range was expanded from C3-F#6. I would consider myself an amateur. I started taking voice lessons from Mary 3 weeks ago specifically for false chord screams. I had been damaging my throat due to improper technique from trying to figure it out on my own and I needed extra guidance on how to do it safely. Based on her classical background, I already knew she would be qualified for teaching this. I really like the fact that Mary explains the anatomy behind how our vocals work (though I didn't need as many explanations due to my medical background), and she also gave great visuals to help hone in on that proper technique. I have to say at first that I was nervous and apprehensive about how far I'd progress in such a short period of time, but with Mary, I'm confident to say I'm miles ahead of where I was before and I'm genuinely impressed. She even managed to expand my upper range to a G#6, which I didn't think would be possible with false chord screams, lol. Another thing too that I should add is that she's very easy to work with which is another plus for people like me who get mic shy/self conscious at times and also deals with moderate social anxiety. It's definitely worth investing in perfecting your technique and having a really great teacher helps immensely. I'm happy to say that I can recommend Mary for anyone regardless of skill level and I've thoroughly enjoyed her lessons so far!
