About

I took piano lessons from Ms Garin for almost 11 years. Over that time, she not only taught me about music theory and piano techniques, but her guidance helped me learn about hard work, dedication, and atristry. She catered her lessons to me personally, exposing me to various styles of music, and making sure I was always interested in what I was learning or playing. As I progressed, she allowed me to explore options in songwriting and play some of my own compositions at her student recitals. Over the years, my mom and I both came to know Paulette as a very approachable and caring person with a passion for music and teaching. By now, I consider Paulette a close personal friend and cannot recommend her highly enough.

About

I offer a private music instruction for piano, guitar, drums, clarinet. I teach all ages, and a variety of styles (classical, jazz, folk, pop). With young students, I make sure they get the music fundamentals that they will need where ever their musical journey takes them. And, we have fun making music together. That's key. With some of my older students, I've been able to group them together into ensembles/bands, playing "covers" or their own compositions. Music skills last a lifetime and enhance all the other skills your child is mastering. Knowing how music works enhances your enjoyment of just listening to quality music, in any genre.

About

Vera has been giving our children piano lessons for about three years now. Our kids love her and so do we! Above all, she is so patient! Especially with our daughter, who can be quite difficult on days she is not interested in practicing. Vera is also very flexible with our hectic schedules. I would definitely recommend Vera for anyone looking to start their child with music lessons.

About

I am a private instructor on several instruments as well as a performing solo guitarist, singer songwriter who often performs in duos, trios and bands. TEACHING I specialize in acoustic guitar music, solo instrumental guitar and also teach beginning piano, electric bass, ukelele, and some electric guitar styles. I received my BFA - Guitar Performance from UW-Milwaukee and WI Conservatory of Music. Becoming a musician is a process that anyone can follow, it is not only available to a select few. Whether you want to better understand music in theory, learn a particular song or even just focus on a key phrase or lick, I can lead you through the steps to developing real musical skill and ability. I'll also make the process enjoyable and fun. I offer weekly and on-call lessons in my studio. I can also make arrangements to teach you in your home, within a ten-mile radius of HeadStock Music or on days that I'm performing in your area. Lessons are also available online through Skype. PERFORMANCE While at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music I specialized in American fingerstyle guitar. I play solo guitar pieces, commonly referred to as classical guitar, however I play on a steel string acoustic and the music is a mix of American music styles: folk, jazz, rock, blues and country. My strongest instrument has always been my voice and I initially studied guitar to be better accompany myself. I enjoy songs from blues, folk, rock, country and jazz styles. I am also a writer and enjoy singing my own songs in a concert/ house concert settings. In most background situations I favor familiar popular songs from multiple eras with a few originals thrown into the mix. Currently, I play in: a Madison rock band called the Fauxtons; a blues and folk trio with mandolin and harmonica players called the Mugs; in a folk harmony duo called the Sugar Daddies; as well a hundred plus solo guitar and song performances a year. I've also done some side projects in a Replacements cover band and an Eagles cover band. Visit my website to hear musical samples.

In the different types of classroom settings, I maintain a productive classroom environment, while still remaining approachable to my students for discussions about their music advancement. My communication skills enable me to easily connect with students, parents and colleagues. Thanks to my educational training at Millikin, I am comfortable with teaching not only musical concepts but also performance, reading and listening skills. While my educational background has given me a solid understanding of teaching music and my on-the-job training has given me the opportunity to work with children one-on-one utilizing various methods or styles and preparing students for performance by organizing and facilitating recitals.

About

"A vocal coach is a music teacher who instructs singers on how to improve their singing technique, take care of and develop their voice, and prepare for the performance of a song or other work. "Vocal coaches may give private music lessons to singers, or they may coach singers who are rehearsing on stage or who are singing during a recording session. Vocal coaches are used in both classical music and in popular music styles, such as rock and gospel. "While some vocal coaches provide a range of instruction on singing techniques, others specialize in areas such as breathing techniques or diction and pronunciation." - Wikipedia
