I enjoyed working with Absolute Plumbing on the quick fixes that we had in our home. Douglas provides quality work, fast, timely, and he was able to accommodate a changing our scheduled appointment due to a last minute change on my end. One of the things that made me feel more confident in his work is his master plumber license. It is good to know that things will be fixed correctly the first time. Douglas is not much of a small talker, he focuses on the work. I will be calling Absolute Plumbing in the future for more updates in the future.

If you're like me & put off projects you shouldn't because you dread "rolling the dice" to find a trusted contractor - look no further. These days customer service is a lost art, Corey is the exception. From the day I posted my quote request to the day the job was done, he was patient and promptly answered my endless questions. He rearranged his sched & got his 2nd plumber to join him to get all my jobs done in one day. His prices are competitive. When there was a leak from one of the valves he fixed it the next day. Clean up was great - no trace left behind. Let him know if you want to keep anything, most people don't, I did. I've found my "go-to" plumber, bet you will too! (No we are not related, nor did I get a discount for this review, just grateful. :)

He did a great job helping us out. I've had other plumbers here that didn't take the time to explain and trouble shoot. Ended up needing a new disposal and it works like a dream. (The last company came out 4 times and never really diagnosed the issue). Dave knew right away what he'd found and fixed it.

Jacob helped me to replace a bathtub valve that was cut out and capped by a previous plumber who charged me an arm and a leg to cap 3 pipes. Jacob quoted a very reasonable price and even though the job took him twice as long as anticipated due to complications, he maintained his quoted price. Jacob did an awesome job configuring, replacing and soldering over 15 joints to replace the valve due to the poor planning and workmanship of my previous plumber. Jacob is also a kind caring gentleman who took the time to learn my plumbing system and explain his work in great detail. If look forward to using Jacob for all of my construction needs including finishing my basement.

Micah is the best contractor I've ever hired. Not just best plumber...best contractor. He's a fundamentally decent human being. He's polite, he's detail oriented and he values customer service to an extreme. We were remodeling our bathroom. Micah redid the plumbing throughout our 1950's bathroom and replaced about half of our aged basement piping with modern PEX. Throughout the process, he was humble and focused on the tasks in front of him. However, my wife noticed a drop in water pressure. So, we politely asked if he could come out and adjust whatever needed to be adjusted so our water pressure would be back to what it was. Without hesitation, he said he'd come out free of charge. As he began adjusting our faucets, he chose to replace our kitchen faucet for free. He said "This is what I'd expect from a car repair shop when repairing my car." I was stunned! STUNNED. So, let's recap: 1: His hourly rate is lower than many of the other local plumbers. 2: He was never pushy or aggressive in trying to upsell me additional services. 3: He was a gentleman in my home. 4: His workmanship is excellent. 5: He volunteered to correct my water pressure issue free of charge. I didn't have to ask. He volunteered. 6: When he decided it was the faucet, he chose to replace my faucet at his cost. 7: He cleaned up after he left. Micah Monk is a home run. You can't do better.

The men who did the work knew what they were doing...however I was under the impression that he would be doing the work himself and that he was a electrician. I had gone on line to find an electrician in my area. No one told me they were not going to be licensed electricians.

When our water heater needed to be replaced, we went through the process of getting several quotes. I had just found the Thumbtack site a few days prior looking up Junk Removal sites, so I decided to try it out. We only got one quote from Thumbtack but it was the most appealing to us. While every other place gave one flat rate including cost of water heater, Burt's quote gave us the idea to purchase the water heater on our own and he would install it for a very reasonable hourly labor rate. This ended up working out very well since Home Depot lets you do a six-month no interest payment plan. Burt even offered in his quote to pick up the water heater for us but we were able to get it home on our own. I was very pleased that Burt gave me several references who all verified he is well-versed in plumbing and has quite a list of satisfactory jobs he has completed during his career. This gave us the confidence to move ahead. Burt arrived right on time and ready for work. He had every tool he would need to complete the job and even when he needed an additional part, he stopped the clock and picked it up on his own time. He did a wonderful and professional job of successfully installing the new water heater. He completed the job for us in a timely manner. He was very professional and friendly. Since he was also disposing of our old water heater for us, at an agreed upon rate he also took a couple old non-functioning small appliances we needed to dispose of but didn't want to pay the high Waste Management fees. Finally, although Burt is not a service plumber but explained his forte is rough plumbing, he even agreed to check our toilet and put in a new flush valve for us. I can't say more about how happy we are that we chose Burt to complete this job for us. In this day and age it can be hard to find trustworthy solid workmanship, but we did find that in Burt. We are happy to recommend him wholeheartedly. Thank you Burt, for a job well done.

I would like to say thank you to KBI for their professionalism. All of the workers went above and beyond the call of duty. They were so polite and my wife felt very safe throughout the entire process. I dont know what im looking at or the first thing from plumbing. I just know that you flush the toilet and whatever waste is in there should flush. That is not what happened. My toilet started making a gurgling noise and bubbles came up. I was freaking out and immediately posted what occurred on thumbtack. Within minutes I had three quotes. I looked at all 3 websites and I went with KBI because of the military background. Always trying to give my hard earned money to the ones that allow me to have my freedom. Its nice to know there are still great people in this world. Thank you KBI we picked the best company for sure and you solved our problem. I already told all my neighbors that KBI is our go to plumber. Thanks again.

We have had the worst luck with plumbers -- with 2 companies that no called no showed and 1 that did a half crap job as we moved into a new home. After more than a week with no laundry, John came to the rescue. He was prompt, responsive, got us taken care of quickly, fixed the crap the previous guy did, and we are finally satisfied. We won't be using any other plumber for any future needs. Thanks, John!

Showed up immediately, completed the job quickly, a little pricy. I had the option of taking other bids to compare, decided to have the faucet fixed since he was here.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
