Introduction: I am offering lessons for flute, clarinet, and saxophone: soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone. I offer improvisation in different styles: jazz, blues, rock, pop, ethnic, and more. I also offer music theory, practice of harmony and rhythm, music analysis, ear training, and jazz standards repertoire. This is for all ages and all levels. I provide flexible schedules. My name is Furmi Gomez. I graduated in 2011 with a bachelor of jazz saxophone. In 2013, I also finished my master studies of jazz saxophone. The hourly price is $40 for an hour, half an hour would become $30, the lessons would be at my location, east Williamsburg/west Bushwick. I offer a introductory, private lessons for $20 a session I am fluent in English and Spanish. I am friendly and patient. I am also going forward with the topics to learn. I have years of teaching experience with students of many different levels and ages. For each student, I develop a fitted program according to his/her level and what is most needed to achieve what is aimed for.

I have been taken (soprano-) saxophone lessons from Furmi Gómez in 2014 and 2015 in the Netherlands until he moved to NYC. This period has been a great pleasure for me. Not only is he a skill-full educated musician on all saxophones, he is also capable, with great patience, to teach the less capable and not so talented pupils, like myself ( I'm in my fifties and have some self-knowledge). Central was the joy in making music and making it sound better, getting my pitch correct; getting the best out of me and and my instrument. The lesson were in good equilibrium between practice and learning to play new music. There never was any restriction on the kind of music: classic , jazz or blues. Furmi is really good with kids, he is kind and takes time to explain all kind of techniques of playing sax. My 11 year old daughter learned a lot. She was disappointed that he moved from Europe to the States. If you are looking for a saxophone teacher, his lessons are a good choice!

Furmi is a very friendly and good teacher. Furmi teached our son and a friend for quite some time, My son (16 yrs) plays saxophone and is really inspired by Furmi. Furthermore Furmi is relaxed and easygoing and treats the boys like adults, he is fun to be with and a gifted musician.
