FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For elopements, with a short ceremony and signature of the license, I charge $50. For a full, custom ceremony, prices start at $250, including readings, any nerd stuff you want included (please include nerd stuff! I love it!), and signing the marriage license. Add a unity ceremony of your choice (handfasting, love lock, sand, etc) for an additional $50. While I do not charge extra to be present at the rehearsal, because I strongly prefer being able to rehearse with the couple, I do ask for an additional $50 if you need me to run the rehearsal. I am happy to do this for couples who don't have a wedding planner or their venue doesn't have a coordinator doing this. Please see my website linked at the top of the page for information on mileage and any other applicable fees.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to meet with my couple in person at least 3-4 months before their wedding, if they book me that far in advance. If there is less time before the wedding, I arrange an in-person or video-chat meeting as soon as possible. We will go over what their wedding will be like, their number of guests, size of the wedding party, etc. We will also go over details of what they want in their wedding ceremony. Any unity ceremonies? Readings? Are we getting super geeky? Let's create something beautiful together!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have no formal training in conducting wedding ceremonies, though I do have seven years' experience and I study independently on the subject of ceremony creation. I hope to have more formal training in the future, so that I can be of even better service to my wonderful couples. Together with the Lafayette-area Pagan church called The Guild of the Gods, we are crafting an ordination program including training that can roll out as soon as the church receives full legal status.
