Introduction: Hello,
I've been in the fitness industry since graduating from college. Fitness has always been part of my life and working with others to achieve their fitness and weight loss goals has been quite rewarding. I train out of my studio in my basement located off of Strickland Rd close to the Creedmoor Rd intersection (between Lead Mine Rd and Creedmoor).
My rates vary depending on many times per week you train with me.
I'll also share an article that was written about my personal training business a few years ago:
While some people may be able to say that they make fitness an integral part of their lifestyles, very few can say that they are as dedicated to the practice as Catherine. An athlete and fitness enthusiast since high school, Catherine has perfected her workout routine over the years to the point where she is ready to assist others in developing theirs as well. Having taught spin classes from Toronto to Raleigh for over 10 years, Catherine has created her own spin routines which include techniques such as numerous climbs to gain not only a cardio, but a leg workout as well. Catherine moved to personal training in addition to teaching spin after finding it difficult to balance her life between a career in engineering and raising children. Ever since, Catherine has moved from teaching at a large gym to teaching in her own in-home training studio, a setting that allows her to work with customers in a more private and intensive setting.
In her private studio, Catherine caters every exercise program to each person depending on their preferences and workout goals. Since women typically want to become slim and toned, she tends to focus on intensive cardio followed by utilizing body weight, such as pushups. For men who would rather build muscle mass, Catherine continues with the intensive cardio but then changes to heavier weights instead.
Since Catherine herself has had three children, all of whom were birthed through c-sections, she has great insight for women looking to work out post-pregnancy as well. “I focus on cardio a lot more after a pregnancy because they have to drop the weight,” says Catherine. “Then I like working out using body weight, doing exercises like Pilates.”
Core development is of course very important as well, and to work the core muscles, Catherine works with everything from Bosu balls to planks. Specifically for men who want their core muscles to extend, Catherine utilizes a pulley system so that additional weight beyond body weight is added to the exercise.
Overall, Catherine greatly contributes to her customer’s workouts by increasing their awareness of form, focus, and intensity. “It’s all about form,” says Catherine. “Someone can do 100 crunches the wrong way, but 20 the right way is harder. Focus is important too; some people just go through the motions and don’t really work the muscles they are trying to work out. Paying attention is so important.”
I love making a difference in someone's life. I enjoy seeing my client's confidence grow as we make progress throughout their journey. My clients are more than clients to me. I rejoice in their triumphs and pick them up when they're feeling defeated. There isn't a quick-fix in getting healthy. It's lifestyle change. My favorite quote is: "It only takes one moment to change your attitude and, in that moment, you can change your life".
