Introduction: I am a composer and artist who performs and teaches piano and acoustic guitar. I have a great understanding and love of music and patience with students of all ages and abilities. I teach music theory and composition, as well. My youngest student was 3, my oldest, 91! I excel teaching adults, getting quick results. I specialize in teaching children on the spectrum and learning to play "off the page," but I am also classically trained. I feel the process needs to be fun, for both me AND my clients in order to create lifetime players, and that's my goal. I live 3 miles north of the 215 off of Jones. (Centennial Hills?) I cannot teach weekends, but can be flexible with your schedule through the week, but not after 6pm. I offer 30 minutes, $25. 45 minutes, $37.50, and 1 hour lessons, $50. Buy one lesson and see if I'm right for you! Elaine

Elaine is so personable. I connected with her instantly. I like her teaching style and would recommend her to anyone interested in taking piano and/or guitar lessons.

Working with Elaine for the past month has been awesome. She really customized the lesson for the child’s current state and advancement. My son loves going to her and she always gets him to break a smile even when he’s a little sleepy from school. Seeing him read music and begin to play with both hands has me in awe. You can see she believes in her students and really has a passion for teaching. Can’t wait to see where we are in the couple months.

Details: Younger than 6 years old • No, the student cannot read music • 0 - 2 yrs of formal training • Classical • Yes, the student has a keyboard • 30 minutes • My home, venue, etc. • At the pro’s location

Firstly, I chose Mrs. Mills initially just based on how warm and personable she was when we first communicated via telephone. She didn't pressure me in any way and wasn't in a rush to get me off the phone. I could tell she wasn't just in it for the money, as she recommended a 30 minute session versus a 60 minute session due to the initial pain that beginner guitar student would experience depressing the strings against the fret. Many people believe you can teach yourself, which I believe to a point. However, I realized by working with her that you could easily pick up or learn bad habits which may be difficult to correct. One of her key points to learning the guitar effectively was to be sure to have good posture. To really excel, it's a good idea to practice in between sessions. Mrs. Mills also seemed to build her curriculum based on my needs. It was hard for me to get motivated practicing chords and scales on my own, so she introduced me to a beginner song and started teaching me how to play the melody. I cannot get enough of practicing. I am very excited to begin working on the chords again for the song. I am very happy with Mrs. Mills' instruction and will continue to be her understudy.
