Met Jeff a few days ago for my first lesson. I’ve tried a couple of other instructors and this was my best experience so far. He goes over the basics of a song with you, while you’re playing the guitar. He then plays the lesson while you’re recording him. The next day I played the video while practicing and it was a huge help. I would recommend him to anyone trying to learn the guitar.

I’ve never had a music instructor before, but the confidence he inspires with his teaching eases my anxieties about being new to learning guitar. Jeff is versed in multiple genres of music applicable to guitar, using them to teach the lessons necessary for me to grasp the techniques he's conveying. I usually do not leave many reviews at all, as a matter of fact I can't think of the last review I wrote. What I'd like to share with you potential students is this---sign up with Jeff! He's that good! One of Jeff's attributes that makes him an awesome guitar teacher is his ability to pinpoint what you do well, and not so well. From there he build's a customized plan of progressive learning. I've found out it is analogous to building blocks, building one skill on top of another. When he did this with me, I was improving and learning more about guitar. In other words I was having fun learning guitar and practicing guitar. Another attribute that makes Jeff a special kind of teacher is his patience. As beginners, it is important that our mistakes be pointed out, but done so kindly, not harshly. Jeff is terrific at doing just that! He moves at your individual pace, and really cares that you understand why you are doing something one way, as compared to another. He is a professional in every sense of the word. I hope this was helpful to anyone looking to take guitar lessons. In closing, do yourself a favor, sign up to take lessons with Jeff. I have been a periodic guitar player since high school (27 yo) but had felt a plateau in my progress for about three years before I decided to take my first guitar lesson. Thumbtack proved to be a valuable resource for this endeavor. I had all the fundamentals down but could not enter the realm of riff creation, so I met with a few people, three to be exact. Though they were great guitarists and patient teachers, they could not teach me anything. Dave's profile already had me thinking he was gonna be a good fit, but it didn't take long for me to realize the wealth of guitar knowledge I had access to. He immediately knew what skill level I was on and gave me homework and chords that were the perfect level of difficulty. After five lessons with Dave, he had provided me all the missing pieces I needed to complete my web of guitar communicating skills, and I stopped meeting with him. I knew I was going to do it long term and for the past four years, I've been playing a fair amount and have been very happy with my progression. I haven't played much over the past year due to limited space for guitars and the lack of free hands. I just started playing again and am rusty, so I came back on here to find Dave in order to level up with him again. Can't believe I didn't leave a review last time, sorry Dave. I cannot recommend Dave enough. This man can do everything with a guitar and knows the ultimate technicality of the music as a science, which is what a student needs from a teacher.

I just started my lessons with Jeff and I’m already having a blast! At nearly 50 years old, learning to play guitar has been on my “bucket list” for many decades. Jeff is patient, encouraging, kind, addresses all of my questions, and is a wonderful teacher. At only my second lesson he was starting me on songs I know and recognize while giving me exercises to make sure my technique is developing as I go. I’ve always wanted to learn guitar, I would guess most of us who seek guitar lessons do… Lol. However, given my lifestyle. I would consider myself a fairly busy individual. Interestingly enough Jeff’s strategy has proven to work effectively with my lifestyle. I’ll admit I am not the best student, but somehow I’ve memorized where certain chords, etc are, All without “trying.” Sidenote: You probably don’t want to start with the 12 string like I did. It is what it is Thank you Jeff for your knowledge and your patience for us bad students 😅
