First of all, I strongly recommend Jeff as a guitar teacher and look forward to continued lessons. I have never taken guitar lessons before so I am new to the instrument. Jeff spent some time before our first lesson asking about my experience level with music to get a gauge of me as a player and musical preferences (classic/hard rock), which I appreciated. Also, Jeff helped me pick out a very reasonable priced electric guitar.
During lessons he focuses on technique and keeping it simple with songs to get me playing right away. I don't read music but his immediate answer was, "No problem." Jeff explained that I can still become a good player and enjoy playing without a formal background.
Jeff is consistently reminding me not to get frustrated and always provides encouragement. I work more than 40 hours a week and have limited practice time, but no doubt I am improving. When he has an idea or wants to re-enforce a point, Jeff has me take of a video recording of him playing so I have a reference during the week.
Just starting has been the hardest part and Jeff is committed to my development. If you are looking for an instructor don't hesitate to contact Jeff!

Jeff is a phenomenal guitar instructor. I am a 71 year old guy who took a year of lessons at age 8 and then was self taught. Along the way, college, marriage and children took precedence and I played infrequently. By the time I was ready to pick it up again, I had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and my fine motor coordination was greatly reduced. My recent attempts to play were frustrating to say the least and I thought, not terribly optimistically, that perhaps getting some instruction and correcting years of bad habits and learning things I neglected would somehow be rewarding. I did not hold out much hope, as I had tried this once before and the frustration of trying to move my fingers in new ways was too great.
I mention all of this to provide context for my review of Jeff. Within a few minutes of sitting down with Jeff, I found that he had a remarkable sense of what I could do and what I needed. I realized that I would be going back to some basics and was concerned about how I would feel about that. Jeff was supportive and encouraging and I now feel that despite my personal difficulties, this was the best decision I have made in a long time. I look forward to picking up the guitar and practicing, something I have not felt since I began at 8.
Jeff can provide the foundation needed for beginners to flourish and the techniques for experienced player so to improve. He has an ideal temperament for teaching, always encouraging and positive. I wish I had found him years ago.
