Dr. Jeff is a great teacher. We are doing piano lessons for my 6 year old son, and flute for my 9 year old daughter. He even helped me find inexpensive instruments for them. Dr. Jeff is very patient with my incredibly energetic and TALKATIVE kids, refocusing them when they get offtrack during a lesson. They both look forward to their lessons, so I think that says alot about his teaching methods and how much they like him. (I know many adults who tell me they hated their music lessons as kids) I try hard not to have to cancel their lessons, but on the occasion it does happen he has been very accommodating to reschedule if possible. I would recommend Dr. Jeff to anyone young or old, who is interested in learning an instrument.
My daughter has taken flute lessons with Katrina for eight months. Katrina is THE BEST! She is professional, kind, and knowledgeable. My daughter always looks forward to going to lessons, and I have seen her grow so much, thanks to Katrina’s guidance. Katrina has high standards and is an excellent flutist, and she guides her students with compassion and skill, even offering additional activities and recommendations when students need help refining certain aspects of their playing. Also, her prices are more than fair, and she is quick to respond to emails. We highly recommend her!
My 8 year old daughter started piano lessons at age 5. I wanted her to enjoy learning and not view it as work. Julie Ann is such a great instructor she was able to read my daughters personality and, in turn, tailor her teaching to my daughters natural pace. She doesn't push or force students to perform -- she engages them and makes them feel confident in their learning. Julie Ann keeps us informed on progress, learning strategies and helps us understand how to help our daughter continue learning during home practice times. I reccommend Scottsdale Studio of Music to students of all ages who are interested in learning an instrument.
I really enjoyed listening in on the lessons. She worked very well with my 14 year old daughter and my 6 year old twin boys. They are running to the piano to show me what the have learned! I've recently decided to let my daughter have some flute lessons for improvement in her school band and am looking forward to seeing the results.
My daughter has taken lessons with Elizabeth for a couple of years: she's learned a lot as a flute player (and she went from wanting to quit to now seeing the flute as a lifelong instrumenther band teacher said "don't quit: take private lessons, you'll see!" and it was true). In addition to taking lessons, working with Elizabeth on the ensemble performances has been *excellent*. Also Elizabeth helps us keep on top of things I'd forget (when to get the flute maintained, for example). She is definitely more than a weekly teacher: she really cares about the student as a person (my daughter feels very close to her), and about music and music history, and about creating events for her studio that range widely and offer different (& cool) experiences (performances in an art gallery on First Friday, at Holiday Harmony in downtown Scottsdale, at a poetry conference on a college campus, in nursing homes and churches, etc etc...). She's very thoughtful and she shows this with lots of small touches that give students a sense of being really cared about and supported. I think we've been very lucky to know her!
My son age 9 started taking guitar lessons from Rena a year ago. He can read any music and play almost anything she puts in front of him, because of the great teacher/musician she is. She dedicated to my child's education in life. Thank you Rena -----------Chrisdena

Conservatory-trained. I love to teach and play both traditional and non-traditional music - I can teach/play Mozart, tango, JS Bach, salsa, rock, you name it! If I don't know something, I'll gladly learn it for you. I like to have a nice balance between being serious and having fun. Whether you're preparing for auditions, just want to learn a new instrument, or are in need of a high-quality performer, I can help you achieve your goals. Please let me know what I can do for you and let's get started!

As a professional flutist currently pursuing a Doctorate in Musical Arts, I can offer specialized information on the flute that will benefit students of any age and level. I love to help students develop their own sense of artistry and become their own teachers by learning to problem-solve! Lessons are always fun and positive, and I strive to create a healthy, optimistic environment for students while they are learning and improving! My favorite thing about teaching flute lessons is seeing the satisfaction and pride students feel when they suddenly understand something new. It is an amazing moment to witness!
