Jeremy was awesome! Best construction person i have ever hired. Highly recommend.
I can’t recommend Creviston Construction enough! Did a perfect job installing a doggy door! Better than I could have ever expected. Professional, personal, and the finished product is simply perfect.
Lane is very professional and prompt in his response. Showed up in an hour agter the initial phone call, fixed my problem, indicated where the leak was and charged very reasonably. He is a handy man with many contacts in the construction industry. We highly recommend him. Bankim
Photo updates to follow First, I should say that for a big project like this, I would hire John again, bottom line. That is probably the most straightforward way to assess the renovation as a whole. We hear nightmare stories all the time about significant (and even minor) home renovations and, while we had our frustrations, we went through a big job with few significant complaints. Planning/cost: Initially discussing the project, John was extremely receptive to our budget needs: we had saved up a very specific amount of money, and needed to complete two big projects in order to make the house more appealing to future renters (as we plan to move to a home with my wife's parents for the foreseeable future). The house had only one bathroom, even though it was approximately 1600 square feet. We needed to fix that if any families were going to rent. John understood and very clearly explained where we would be able to save money, what he would charge us for his work, for materials he bought vs. materials we provided, the realistic areas we could go cheap and the areas we couldn't scrimp on. John's price was not just competitive, but frankly made the difference between us being able to have these two complete and dramatic projects vs. one that would have left us feeling wanting. However, it was the price along with the fact that his clients indicated he was flexible and budget sensitive through the whole project that made the decision for us. (We've certainly dealt with people who claim to be able to work with "x" budget, and then everything somehow inflates dramatically over time.) We had a laundry/utility room that was separated from the main house by a breezeway. John connected it to the main house with brick in the same style as the house. He converted the room to a full bath and laundry room with a large shower. Simultaneously, he opened up the bare backyard wall of the main house, installing larger windows and glass french doors. Quality of work/cleanliness: John completed a great deal of the work himself, using a subcontractor to perform most of the brick work and the drywall. The quality, functionality, and look of the work overall was simply fantastic. Day after day they meticulously cleaned up their work, leaving as little footprint as possible on our day to day lives throughout the process, which, frankly reduced the stress that I believe tends to naturally accumulate during such projects. Once we paint it I believe the new brick will be entirely indistinguishable from the old. The brick has extremely clean lines in the same pattern as the existing work, and the finishing work around the windows and doors is excellent. We did have a brief ordeal flushing out a clog that seemed to result from construction debris, but ultimately the plumbing is excellent. Similarly, the shower tile work ultimately is terrific, but we did have a problem with the layout due to an error that John corrected, and it looks wonderful. In the bathroom, he took what was basically a junk/laundry room and installed an elegantly laid out vanity, toilet, laundry hookups on one side, and a massive shower, and utility/cleanup sink on the other, with room to spare. He added a simple half-wall to divide the toilet from the washer/dryer that works perfectly to separate the space. The shower he created for us is enormous and beautiful. Every time we go in the room, we are impressed all over again. The whole room could have appeared like a necessary appendage stuck on to the rest of the house, but that large, bright tile shower makes the room look elegant. Flexibility: I hated to lose my very functional utility sink from that room and hadn't planned for a replacement; however, John helped by coming up with a clever solution to put a sealed brick sink in with the water heater closet. which works perfectly. It's a clean, and very functional solution that I constantly appreciate having, though it was certainly a significant adjustment for him. When we requested adjustments, it felt as though John quoted a bit high to accommodate time and materials (and his added stress). But all in all he was fair and up front about the work, his time, and our options. That being said, there were some frustrations: Our frustrations all come down to communication and documentation. I don't fault John for all of this - his talent lies in the work he does; had we been more on the ball, we would have been more clear and organized ourselves. We had any number of preliminary discussions with John, and agreed to three or four major things up front, that satisfied us the work could be done in a way that would meet all of our needs. But as the project began and progressed, numerous details were forgotten. Specifically, the layout of the utility room and the physical requirements for the french doors to be installed. John repeatedly asked how we wanted to accommodate something as if we had not already come to a conclusion on the matter and we would essentially have to re-figure it out. Specifically, he forgot the layout that best accommodated all of the elements I mentioned above, and he forgot that he would have to "float" the bathroom wall, requiring a different (pricier) toilet than originally planned. Additionally, when he went to start work on the french doors, he had to take extra time to order a lintel that would span the entire length rather than two separate lintels - but, of course these were dimensions he'd known since originally planning the project. Things like this ultimately got worked out to our satisfaction, with one frustrating exception, but if either of us had documented what we'd agreed upon, it would have saved a great deal of hassle and debate, as my wife and I had to re-discuss everything ourselves as well, which reinforced John's feeling that we'd never come to a final agreement to begin with. Time/documentation: While we believe John was more than fair in his billing, the lack of clear, consistent documented days/hours prevented us from having a clear, concrete idea where we stood financially during the project. This impacted us when, in a couple of instances, we did ask for changes (such as installing the utility sink) and he quoted us for the change, though we had no idea whether we were in the high or low end of the overall planned project. All of this is to say: John worked it all out, and he did so in a way that was affordable, excellent, excellent, quality, beautiful work. But, in order to avoid frustration, agreements as to planning should be documented and ongoing days/hours worked should be documented. This would help avoid revisiting complicated plans and would allow for adjustments without having to be in the dark about the bottom line. Day in, day out, we are grateful for the work John did, and that it didn't eat us alive financially, because he did come in right in line with the budget. We love looking through our fantastic glass doors every morning. We have guests stay with us for a day or two, and love having a beautiful distinct bathroom they can use when they stay with us. We love knowing they won't feel they're entering into some dark corner of the house tacked on because it had to be, but that there's a beautiful bath with plenty of space that they can make themselves feel at home in.
Michael, I believe he is the owner, was very easy to communicate with. He was very articulate in writing. He sent his project manager out to see the scope of the job. It took 11 days to receive a proposal and I needed to inquire about it a couple of times. It was a large and complicated job do. It took quite a while to get bids from subs. In the end, after submitting the proposal, I was left hanging. Michael said we could discuss the proposal and change or eliminate items that were too costly and I was certainly open to that. However, I was never contacted again. Perhaps they felt like the ball was in my court but since I didn’t initiate contact for revision, the project apparently died. Perhaps they didn’t want to do the job after all. Initially it was an excellent experience but languished after that
George was great. He got back to me quickly and came out the next day. Received our roof certification right away and was able to close on our new home. I would highly recommend him. I know who I’m calling when I need any roof services.
I had Luke extend my driveway providing an extra 325 sq ft of parking space. Luke was 1 of 8 people that I received quotes from. His price was great compared to the other and work quality was fantastic. He gave me an honest time frame and completed the job within the provided window. The new driveway looks fantastic and I highly recommend Luke and his team for any concrete projects you may have.
CBE tackled both of our bathroom renovations for us. We had many custom requests and are very particular clients. Rick and Pete were a great team and fabulous to work with. From their detailed estimating process to the final work day, these guys worked with us to every level and made sure that we were happy with the final results. We would hire them again for any construction project. Thank you guys for a great experience with a remodel and for getting it done before our baby boy was due!
I used LCL Construction to extend our pool decking. They did a great job, were prompt and responsive through the entire process and was a pleasure to work with. I would definitely hire them again.
We have worked with Carson Rodgers on four projects. A complete master bath remodel, a complete kitchen remodel, a complete secondary bath remodel, and an exterior maintenance rebuild of the patio cover area. The two baths were each about 60 days, with the kitchen remodel taking 90+ days. We enjoyed working with Carson on these projects because of his communication skills of keeping us in the loop as to what was going on and when various phases were going to be completed. While remodeling will always produce some surprises, Carson was always on top of them and walked us through how they were going to be resolved. The quality of work both in the design phase and construction was outstanding. The most significant delay that we experienced with all three remodels was with the plumbing fixtures - whatever availability times we were given when the orders were placed could be tripled. We will use Carson Rodgers on any future projects and have recommended him to friends and neighbors.
Alin Design was fantastic to work with, they replaced the carpet in 4 bedrooms with prefinished hardwood flooring, painted all 4 rooms and installed ceiling fans. The pricing was fair, communication excellent and the work was completed on time. I would highly recommend using Alin Design Construction for any remodeling or renovation project.
I highly recommend Schembri Engineers. I am a repeat customer for property inspections, and also home renovation and new constructions plans. They even submitted our plans to the city for permitting!
We hired Rob at Cella Construction to enclose our carport into a garage. Additionally, he added a new concrete walkway to our front door and a pull down ladder into our attic. Aside from an initial timing set back due to the city of Mesa taking more than 2 weeks to review for permitting, everything went smoothly. Rob was here when he said he would be every day and finished the project exactly when he said he would. The project was also finished as budgeted with a slight modification required from the city but we knew in advance that was a likely possibility so it was not a surprise. Rob was really nice and informative and put up with the neighborhood kids (ours included) and all of their questions. He was on a first name basis with several kids 6 and under by the end of the project which lasted about 10 days. Everything turned out as expected/promised and it's just an added bonus to work with someone who is a nice guy and very pleasant. We had a few other companies here at the same time doing different work, and while they all did a fine job, Rob was, well, just better. He didn't smell of cigarette smoke or show up late or stay past a reasonable hour to get the days work done. Bottom line, he just did the job exactly as he said he would for the price he said he would. Id hire Rob again, period and have recommended him to family, friends and neighbors.
I was referred to US Vet Construction by a close friend. I had a to sell my home fast and needed to paint, replace my carpet with tile and add some custom baseboards to my home. Scott and his entire team were professional from the very first day. They immediately provided my family and I with straight forward answers and a specific time frame for when the work would be completed. Being new at remodeling, we were worried about overcharges and hidden costs. Scott’s team educated us on how to find average costs for labor specific to the work we wanted done so that we could feel confident about what a fair price should be. Plus any small errors that came up were rectified immediately and at no cost to me. They completed the work timely as promised and made our home look amazing! Now in my new home, I looking forward to using US Vet Construction for major projects like crown molding and redesigning my laundry room!!!
Great value, work quality, professionalism, good communication.
I have never worked with an architect before and Ryan is exactly the type of architect I needed to help me with the redesign of my condo. He took the time during our initial meeting to go through the entire process step by step, answered all my questions, and asked all the right questions. He made sure he had a thorough understanding of what I was looking to do, why I wanted to do it, and what I hoped it would look like once completed. As a result, the first draft Ryan produced was spot on. There was one revision to accommodate a few last minute changes I wanted to make and Ryan turned that around very quickly. He was always on time with everything and he doesn't waste time. Rather than ask me to do it, he took the initiative to contact my property manager to obtain copies of the original building plans. With my work schedule I really appreciated not having to deal with that. I would recommend Ryan to anyone. He's been great to work with and I'm going to begin the construction phase with a little more confidence knowing I've got a professional like Ryan to help me out.
Will use Nils again.
Northwind Construction was established by Steven Swayze in 1990 as a residential home builder. The company is a Michigan based company and we specialize in residential construction. Northwind Construction has been known as a turnkey operation completing projects from start to finish. We are able to assist customers from start to finish including location searches, site development including earth work sewer and drain, water supply and utility installations. Some of the unique qualities of our business include the fact that we self-perform most of the work and have total control over any subcontracted trades. Customer satisfaction is our goal and we are willing to go the extra mile to develop and maintain quality relationships with our clients. On small projects, we generally self-perform all facets of the project; however, oftentimes in order to expedite work, we subcontract areas such as plumbing, Hvac work, drywall work, electrical, and data related systems. We take pride in our history of employing quality subcontractors. We personally guarantee their work and believe our clients should only have to deal with Northwind Construction with questions, repair, work, etc. We believe it is paramount that a client know who to look to in the event when changes are required or problems arise. After 24 years, our company is scaling down. Although we still take on the occasional full construction project, we have found a niche for contractors and tradesmen working on smaller projects. We believe there is a genuine need for professionals willing to take on smaller projects that are quite frankly overlooked oftentimes as troublesome or insignificant. We are willing and we look forward to assisting our clients with any construction related needs. We recognize the importance and sense or urgency our clients have concerning repairs and alterations. We feel that we are able to adapt to most situations and resolve issues in a timely fashion. The following is a small list of services provided: Room additions, door and window installations, custom tile work, cabinets and counter tops, interior and exterior paintings, concrete, block, brick, trim work, custom flooring lamination and true hardwoods, custom fireplace mantles, etc. The services listed cover only a small portion of our company skill set. From design to completion, we are there to assist our clients. We also offer construction management services because we feel there is a need for a system of checks and balances. Oftentimes, clients do not have the necessary skill sets to question quality and methods used by many contractors. Our goal and commitment to customer satisfaction guarantees quality work at fair prices.
Kitchen and bathroom remodeling (demolition, installing of cabinets and appliances) are done by a father/son team. Do you need a wall closed off or opened up? A door added? New base, crown, chair rail, etc.? An exterior door put in through your block wall? No problem. Tile showers are among a few of our areas of expertise. We will take any of your written bids and generally beat them by 25-50%. One can go to our web site and see our work through slide shows. We offer free estimates or advice. Small and large jobs are ok. We are licensed, insured and bonded. We have tons of references. Currently, we just finished converting a 3-car garage into a mother-in-law suite with a full kitchen, full bathroom, and a bedroom with a closet. Our customers will brag that they have found a subcontractor who does it all with speedy completion, fair pricing, and great workmanship. Wayne or Donivan Clifford
