Should you tip piano tuners?

Tipping piano tuners isn’t customary. If you had a great experience with a piano tuner, you can also show your appreciation by leaving a review on Thumbtack.

What happens if you don't tune a piano?

Tunings can help prevent damage and maintain your piano. When you tune your piano, you’re correcting its pitch. So if you go too long without tuning your piano, the pitch will likely drop — which can add tension to your piano’s structure, according to the Piano Technicians Guild.

Is piano tuning hard?

Tuning a piano can be difficult if you haven’t done it before and don’t have the correct tools. For example, you’ll need a piano tuning lever, tips, electronic chromatic tuner and mutes. If you don’t have the tools or experience, you might be better off hiring a professional to tune your piano.

Is it worth tuning an old piano?

It may be worth tuning your old piano, especially if it’s highly valued or has sentimental value. Bring your piano to an expert piano tuner. They can assess your instrument and help you determine if it can be restored.

Why do my piano keys squeak?

If your piano keys are squeaking, it may be because something is stuck between the keys. Or, your piano may be dirty. You may be able to fix your keys. If not, hire a professional to take a look at the problem and perform the repairs.

How often should you tune a piano?

Some experts recommend tuning your piano at least two or four times a year, according to the Piano Technicians Guild. You should always see what the manufacturer recommends for your specific piano. And you should schedule additional tunings as needed.

How long does piano tuning take?

Tuning your piano might take a few hours or less. Before your appointment, ask your piano tuner how long the process will take.

What was great about "Chris" as a "Piano Tuner"/Tech?... Everything...punctual, best value, polite, professional, listened to my comments, answered questions and provided valuable information. Now to his "tuning" ability -- and results: Superior, excellent, piano sounds great, couldn't be happier. Better than all the others I've had tune the piano in the past 20 years. (And my Piano is 65 years old). I would recommend & when I have my Piano tuned again, only he /Chris Udall will get the call...!

Hf Tuned the old fashion way, starting with a tuning fork. After completing the tuning job we were treated to a mini concert. Reminded me of the days when my parents would have it tuned. And that tuner would play- testing out his tuning skills. He arrived right on time. He completed the job in the time he quoted to me. Best piano tuner I have so far found in the Phoenix area.

I did not get to meet our piano tuner; I was at a different location that day, but I was told by the staff that he was personable and professional. All the good things you like to hear. I sat down to play the next day, and the piano sounded wonderful - nice action, good tone, and best of all... no stuck or out of time keys. I’m delighted.

Harald was an absolute delight to work with!!! He wasn't even in the house yet and his courtesy and respect for another person's home and property were already clear as he asked if where he parked (on the street) was ok. His attention to detail and excellence continued as he took his shoes off at the door without even asking. The quality and professionalism continued at that level or even greater throughout his entire visit. My piano sounds better than the day I bought it. Calling Perfect Stretch Piano Tuning PERFECT is not a stretch at all! :) I have a new Piano Tuner for life....thank You, Harald, sir ...and see you next time!!!
