Candid Pix Photo Booth was excellent to work with. Rich and Shelly were easy to work with and kept in constant communication with me through the whole process. They customized the photo strips better than myself or my wife imagined it. Our wedding venue was an outdoor venue and their photo booth worked excellent with it. Their open area photo booth layout was fantastic. They arrived on time and even stayed a little longer past the contracted hours because everyone at the wedding was trying to get in another last minute photo because they loved the booth. I was so impressed with how the photo booth and how easy it was to run and print off the photo strips on site. The workers that worked the booth were fun and engaging. I love the fact that for a cheap price we were able to buy down time for the photo booth during dinner since it would not be used by our guests which did not count against our 3 hours originally purchased. My wife and I researched a bunch of photo booths, and this one hands down was not only the most affordable but also the best quality. I will definitely tell my friends and recommend them to anyone. Thank you so much for help making my wife and I's special day that much more special.

Loved having Eyes Across the Sky do the photo booth at our wedding. Our guests loved the variety of props to choose from, and all guests got copies of their photos. Photo booth was set up promptly on time, and even was quick to get us digital copies of everyone's photos, the very next day!

Jeff provided music for our wedding. We asked him to learn and do music for the ceremony and then do music for the reception and dancing. He did exactly what we asked plus offered his ideas and suggestions for our consideration. He is exceptionally talented and quite professional. We got lots of comments from our guests that they enjoyed his music I highly recommend Jeff for your wedding or party.

The violin guitar duo was a great idea for our outdoor wedding ceremony! Lali reached out to me with the idea when I had requested a project for a harp player. Although I am a bit bummed that I couldn't listen to their whole routine as I was getting ready indoors doing and last min preps before the ceremony. I was able to hear the song that the bridal party walked down the aisle to and the song I chose for me. All the guests complemented on how lovely the music was and that it was loud enough to hear. Lali was very responsive through email and was great about creating a timeline. They also have a wonderful song list to choose from. The only con would be that they required shade, which is understandable, but there was limited shade where we were (kind of far and would of looked awkward) and we had to rent an umbrella for them. I would suggest that Lali invests in an umbrella for clients. Wedding vendors are already playing the nickel and dime game with the bride and groom and it would be nice to have to worry about one less thing. Thank you for your amazing performance Lali!

I originally found Mark via Thumbtack, he responded to my inquiry promptly. I spoke with him on the phone and could tell by his demeanor he would be the perfect officiant for my wedding. He emailed over a sample service, which I altered a little to fit my and my fiance's personality. He attended my rehearsal which allowed me to speak with him in person and get to know him a little better. He arrived early for the day of the wedding ceremony and was professional throughout the whole event. My guests and I were all very impressed by his service. Hiring him took some of the many wedding day stresses off my shoulders. I would definitely recommend Mark for anyone's wedding, plus he was very well priced for this service. Thanks Mark, you made for a very memorable day! -Bicey and Vineet

I recently hired Celebrate! Selfies for our wedding. While I knew that I wanted a photo booth early on in the wedding planning process, it ended up being one of the last things I booked. It was hard to find a photo booth vendor that was a good mix of affordable, high quality and genuine. Celebrate! Selfies was exactly that. Sal was extremely professional and sent me a preview of what our photo strips would look like about 2 weeks before our event. The photos came out great and our guests had a lot of fun taking photos throughout the night. If you're looking for a way to add an extra level of fun to your event, hire Celebrate! Selfies.

Andrew Gork of Gork Live performed at my brunch wedding in March 2015. The wedding was outdoors at The Farm South Mountain on a Sunday morning, and he was absolutely perfect. Not only does he have an incredible voice and musical talent in spades, but he really customized the experience for us. My husband and I sent him lists of our favorite songs, and he learned so, so many of them, so that all morning, not only did we hear beautiful music, but it was personal and meaningful to us, from Bob Dylan to Jeff Buckley and even a little TLC. He covered songs from a range of styles and decades, each with his own personal flair, and we got so many compliments on his performance. He also mixed in several of his original songs, which are incredibly beautiful. It had an awesome and cool indie vibe to it, and whether he is the primary entertainment for a daytime event, or dinner and cocktail music at an evening event, Andrew's professionalism and talent will ensure that your event is beautiful and meaningful and fun.

I can't tell you how many compliments I received about the band during and even several days after the "surprise" party I through for my fiancé. Driven was outstanding! They sounded amazing and even learned some new music to help make Craig's day special! Jeff and the rest of the band were professional and very respectful. Overall my experience with Driven was over and above what I expected. I HIGHLY recommend them if you want your event to be a success! Thank you so much Jeff and the rest of the band, you made Craig's party a huge success! You made things easy...

Outside The Line was the most amazing band ever! My husband and I researched and listened to many bands before we officially booked Outside the Line. They were the best of the best! They have soul, spirit, swag, and an incredible sound. They kept the energy the room going all night! They worked with us and what we wanted, and they truly exceeded our expectations. Our wedding guests said the band was the best part of the wedding! I can not say enough good things about these guys! We definitely recommend them to everyone and anyone!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

What is a photo booth rental?

A party photo booth is a fun, interactive experience where guests can take a series of photos (usually three or four) that are immediately printed out on a strip as a keepsake. When you rent a party photo booth, the company sets up the booth or photo station at your event; a photographer staffs the booth and coaches guests on how to use it throughout the event. Often the photo booth rental company provides props like silly hats, wigs and glasses. There are different types of party photo booth rentals. An open-air booth has a curtain or backdrop that allows more freedom of movement and enables more people to use it at one time. The traditional enclosed photo booths that you may have seen at the mall or the fair tend to cost more to rent, as they are harder to transport and also cost more for the pros to purchase. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

  • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
  • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
  • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How much is it to rent a photo booth for a party?

Renting a party photo booth for your next event will get your guests engaged and provide a take-home favor for attendees. The cost to rent a party photo booth will vary depending on the type of booth, the day and time of year, the length of the rental, and any add-ons you select. The national average cost for party photo booth rentals is $400-$500. Here are some examples of average party photo booth rental costs:

  • Weekday packages: $300-$550, depending on features included and length of rental. A three-hour weekday package for $500 could include guest book, personalized photo strips and DVD of all the photos.
  • Weekend packages: $450-$700, depending on features included and length of rental.
  • Additional hours: $100-$150 per extra hour.
  • Add-on features:
    • Photo guest album services: $75.
    • Personalized photo strips: $30-$50.
    • Custom photo backdrops or vinyl skin branding of the booth: $150-$300.
    • Live social media connectivity (ability to share photos to social media accounts): $100-$250.

Hello! I really need to speak with someone on the phone. Is someone available to call me today? I'm a producer with an agency, and we are looking at video booth options, but I have some fairly specific questions. Events will be in January - on Saturdays starting on the 11th. We need to be prepared for outside events. Number of "guests" is in question as this is a PR public event at a mall. Events are about 6 hours long (plus setup and tear down). I need to know video quality, process, options for adding pre-roll to the video our guest sees, etc.
