Mina responded quickly, came next day, and easily and efficiently repaired our AC! He had all the parts on hand and performed the service for a reasonable fee. I would definitely call SFS again for appliance repairs in the future.

I am so happy to have my oven back in one piece. Mel did an excellent job. He was very pleasant, worked very neatly, and even gave me a few appliance troubleshoiting tips. The fee was lower than I expected which was a nice surprise. Thanks Mel, I will be calling you for my next repair.

I used different companies to service my AC and majority of them never arrived at the scheduled time and tried to over charge me for different parts or just up-sale some services that I didn’t need. Elite technician arrived on time, fixed the issue (low on Freon), the technician filled the gas and didn’t try to up-sale me on anything! Definitely will use them again and highly recommend them!!

Great company. Made an appointment yesterday and they were here first thing this morning. Fixed my Viking fridge within one hour because the tech had the part on his truck. Already scheduled them for tomorrow to service all my kitchen and laundry appliances. Happy with the outcome, would absolutely recommend.

I'm giving Nick an A+ rating. He's one smart entrepreneur, working when the work presents itself. An incredibly innovative approach to customer service. He's going to be my go-to appliance repairman. I've already given him an A+ reference to a friend of mine.

I am a first-time home owner and needed a range of updates, repairs, and renovations, from small to large, on my condo. Kevin was AWESOME! First of all, he listened carefully to my needs, time frame, and budget constraints. He helped me strategically arrange a plan on what to attack first vs. what could wait. Then he diligently took care of our "list" item by item -- everything from lighting to kitchen appliance issues to a new updated thermostat/AC system to garage door opener issues to shelving, etc. etc. He is professional, on-time, considerate, and well-organized. If I did not have the time he picked up materials for me and just got the job done. His work is impeccable. I even needed a new dishwasher and my work schedule did not allow me to be there for the delivery and Kevin took care of it. Along with general "handyman" work, Kevin also has a design background and consistently provides me with design ideas when I ask for them -- for example, in considering new lighting he sent me several options he thought would be good -- based on my design tastes and pricing needs. I aim to keep Kevin involved in updating my home for years to come: his professionalism, practically immediate response to any questions or concerns I have, and kind/respectful demeanor are truly notable!!

We had a microwave/oven combo installed. The workers arrived right on time and were very professional, clean and polite. They took great care to level and secure the appliance. They were also very careful of my tile and cabinets. The price quoted was what I paid no up-charges when they arrived. We are very happy and would recommend this company highly.

I don't write reviews, but this one is warranted. I am a landlord and own multiple properties. I was floored, when David called me and told me he recommends Nothing for my dishwasher. Most, if not all service people would have "found something wrong", recommended the replacement of some part(s), a "service cleaning", or something! Dne appliance repair/David, was honest, and told me what I suspected--I have a nitpicky tenant. Beyond recommending no work, parts, or service,... his only recommendation was to control my nitpicky tenant. I was only charged the service fee, which was lower than others I found. This was my first time using Dne Appliance, but it will not be my last. Honesty goes a long way with me. I will use their service for all my rentals, including my personal home.

Power surges suck! Just the other day a car crashes into a power pole around the corner from where I live and the resulting surge from the exploding transformer burned through every charger and clock I had plugged directly into the wall as well as my fridge, oven and washer. I decided to give OC Appliance Masters a call and make an appointment for him to check things out the next day. I get a nice two hour window vs the 4 hour window that I've been accustomed to from previous experiences with professional service guys for fixing HVAC, electric, plumbing, cable etc. I spoke to Nick and he says he can call an hour or half an hour before the arrival time. Another plus. I was going to be home all day so I was okay with the half hour heads up call. On the day of the service Nick calls me earlier than expected and says he was able to finish his earlier appointment and if I'm available he can come earlier. I'm all for that! Who enjoys biding their time waiting for a service person? Not me. The sooner the better plus my fridge wasn't getting any cooler. When he arrives, he was a whirling dervish of information regarding possible culprits for what could be ailing my appliances and is listing them out as he's working on my fridge. He tells me he was a electrical engineer and will find out what the problem is. It turned out it was the controller board and he was able to give me an estimate immediately without saying he'd have to check the price for the part etc. This was a nice change from the other guys I've dealt with that don't say a word and have to crunch the numbers. What it told me was that he had experience with this issue before. He also had the part on hand and could get the unit back and running in no time. I was sold. After that, he also serviced the fridge's coils, at no extra charge, which were cluttered up with years of cat fur which he was shocked at seeing as he opened up my fridge's service panel. The next item he looked at was my stove/oven. Given what he saw with my fridge, his prognosis even before opening the stove/oven was that it would be expensive and I could be better off looking for a new oven but we'll look anyway. Turns out he was right. The digital display panel and control board were shot and would cost $700 if I wanted to have it fixed. Thank you for your honesty. Finally the dishwasher. Lo and behold, same problem as the others, burned out control board. Good news was that it was more reasonable to fix and wasn't going to cost as much as a new unit. Bad news was he didn't have the part on hand but we arranged for him to get the part and return to fix it later next week. The biggest take away from him during the service call was the preventative advice from Nick. Place ALL your expensive appliances on a SURGE PROTECTOR from now on. This is the first time anything like this has ever happened to me and this includes even when I was living in Denver and we would have some nasty thunderstorms that would cause power fluctuations like nobody's business so it never occurred to me to put anything except my computer and entertainment system on a nice surge protector. That's all changed now. All in all, it's hard finding a trustworthy appliance repair person. I read some of the positive reviews as well as the negative reviews of the well reviewed appliance service techs for the area and decided to take a chance with OC Masters and I'm very pleased with the results. I'm also glad that I'm dealing with a family owned and operated business since Nick and his brother are the guys who are doing all the work. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

SRG Appliance Repair was great! Not only did they save my butt with a Fridge that broke right before the weekend, they were very professional the entire way. From the first call to giving my food the cold it desperately needed, I felt like I was in great hands. Would definitely call them again when the technology revolts against me again.

Had my washer repaired by Ace. The technician Walter called 30 mins before arriving. He came onetime, diagnosed the washer as having a bad pump. Had the part on the truck and was able to repair same day. Best experience I had, y'all need to try!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.
