Dimitry Olevsky is an excellent violin teacher whose style and insight as a teacher can and certainly will lead to many top adult violin players in the years ahead. I say that from the perspective, not only of my current 13-year old, who is studying under him after having taken less inspiring lessons elsewhere, but also from memories of years past when my now much older adult daughter took violin lessons as a middle and high schooler. And indeed from my own perspective taking serious music instrumental lessons (not on violin) decades ago. Having said the above, Dr. Olevsky will be most successful with students who have an internal drive and desire to better themselves as a musician. He can be severe and critical in pointing out areas where his students' techniques and musical interpretation need improvement, and he is excellent in both aspects of this guidance. A lesson sequence is serious business, and Dr. Olevsky can be severely critical if the circumstances call for this. Lesson time is not given to frivolity, and students must be able to accept criticism. A non-self motivated student may falter under his guidance -- unless the process of becoming better leads to increased dedication. I.e., the non-dedicated student may find the pressure to improve more than he or she might like, and the lesson criticism and demonstration of specific ways to improve may lead to discouragement. This is more likely to happen if the student does not act on suggested improvements during practice at home between actual lessons. I highly recommend Dr. Olevsky for students dedicated to learning seriously.
My wife started our 15 year old daughter on violin lessons over Christmas break- since then she has gained confidence in her playing and the sound is much improved as well. She loves the duets that her teacher brings to play together, and it has taught her how to listen more and helped in school orchestra as well. Thank you Jamie!
I wanted a teacher that could work with an older adult who not had piano lessons since childhood. After many years, I wanted to challenge myself by getting back into piano and I wanted to bring music back into my life. I was a bit nervous about making the commitment and about the time investment that would be required. I also didnt know a good teacher so I asked around. Howards name came up. He was recommended as a patient and knowledgeable teacher that would do wonders with students. Howards approach is not the conventional one that I experienced as a child. He presents many types of approaches and uses lots of tools and techniques to build your skills and understanding of the structure of music. Now, Im stretching myself to learn, remember and apply these skills and it feels really good! I actually enjoy practicing my piano. Now thats a testimony to Howards influence! If you are looking for a teacher that can accommodate your needs, encourage and inspire you, meet Howard and try him out. Im confident that you will be very pleased with him as a professional and as a teacher.
This is a great school. My daughter takes violin lessons from Eunji Lee. She has vastly improved since she started her lessons. She really enjoys the time she spends at the school.
I have been so thankful and pleased to take cello lessons from Arlette these past three years. Her experienced instruction has helped me improve bowing and fingering techniques, and her great coaching has enabled me to better voice my cello to a richer, stronger sound. Arlettes advice on best posture and handling of my cello has made me feel more comfortable and confident with my instrument. In addition, Arlette has helped me use the written dynamics and note phrases to achieve a desired mood of a piece. Currently I play in a middle school/high school/community string orchestra. Arlette's patient, cheerful, and affordable instruction has been a great help in preparing me for the challenging music in the repertoire. Cathi (69 years-young)
Jazzly is an amazing person to work with. She understands where the student needs to improve and what their strengths are. She has gone above and beyond for my daughter and son. My kids look up to her as an accomplished musician and want to play like her. If your ever needing a violin instructor, Miss Jazzly is the one to call.
Gina is a wonderful violin teacher! She is patient and kind and works at my pace; however, she pushes me past what I think are my limits. I was afraid that taking up the violin as an adult would be overwhelming, but Gina has made the whole learning process a joy! I would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring teacher with attention to detail.
My 10 yr old son has been taking private Violin lessons at home with Brandon for the last 4-5 months. My son enjoys learning from Brandon. He gives a lot of focus on getting the basics right, something which my son didn't learn in his group Violin classes at school.. My son finds him very funny and likes that Brandon gives him little tips like rhymes/beats which help him remember his notes better. There are times he comes a little late because of heavy traffic but he always sends a message and lets us know about it.We are looking forward to learning more from him.
I have recently started to take violin lessons with Ms. Zabenova. She is knowledgeable, patient and observant. Ms. Zabenova is able to see my strengths and weaknesses. Her teaching style is clear and flexible. I am looking forward to working with her and making progress.
Wonderful with my daughter, she loves her violin lessons
I hired Sara for violin lessons for my 8 yr old son. She was excellent! Not only was she a skilled violinist, she also had great teaching skills especially with this age group. She made his lessons fun & was extremely patient. I would highly recommend Sara. She is reliable & her personality is delightful.
Grace has been a wonderful violin teacher to me. I played when I was much younger and wanted to start taking lessons again. She has helped me catch up with the skills I already knew as a young player, and we are currently working on expanding to new skills. Our lessons are fun, and I always feel like I am learning so much in just one short hour.
Melody is my violin instructor. She is very knowledgeable, is a good musician, and a good teacher. She understands proper methods to achieve success in playing the violin. ( I have had teachers in the past who could play the violin but could not teach). I strongly give her my recommendation
My daughter has had three lessons with Kristi thus far. Kristi comes to our home which is convenient. She's very affordable, always punctual and has a great teaching demeanor.
My name is Tuan Hoang . In 2003 I was looking for a violin teacher and I was 21 year old that time. I found miss Cynthia studio located in Irvine and decided to meet her in person and ready for my violin lessons which I am dreaming studying violin since I was little ( I moved to the United States in 2001 ) my English at that time was very poor in speaking and listening I did afraid how we gonna communicate and study my violin lessons. Fortunately,ms Cynthia was and still be my mentor my inspiration and always showing her great ability and talent to work with adult student like me. I am saying here about her experiences not only working with students from toddler up to teenage. She is very knowledgeable to work with adult students like me as an example. I was studying violin with ms Cynthia for 4 years and finished book 4 Suzuki method. That was my incredible achievement that I never thought I would get from anywhere other than ms Cynthia studio and her teaching. I am currently working and playing violin on the side for my local churches and some special events during the year. I was helping ms Cynthia teaching violin for young students at occtac in Santa Ana for couple seasons. If you are very interested how to play a violin doesn't matter what age you are ( it's never late to start to working on anything you love ) please don't hesitate to contact ms Cynthia about her passionate teaching and assisting you 😘 thank you ms Cynthia for being such a wonderful violin teacher. If you have any questions about how I witnessed my experience with ms Cynthia studio and her teaching. Please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org . I would love to give her 5 stars on this review.
Ms. Maira was recommended to my family for my sons violin classes, she has been with us for almost 2 months now and I can say we couldn't be happier. She is amazing
He's has patience with me. Encouraging. Flexible with scheduling. Easy going. I'm a beginner and I'm feeling excited about the road ahead. He is also located super close to me which is huge for me also.
I am an adult beginning violin student and Jessica has been my teacher for going on two years. Being an adult beginner and severely dyslexic, I doubt I have been the easiest student and I am certainly not the fastest learner, but Jessica has accepted every challenge willingly and with encouragement. In fact her age may be a benefit to younger and or less able students as she is adaptable, approachable and most often encouraging. The student is made aware that the practice room is " the safe zone". Every session has thus far been fun, yet challenging. By way of criticism, all I can say is that critique while always constructive, are often followed with an apology (" Sorry, I'm just being nit picky"). Isn't that the job of the teacher? Jessica is also always quick to point out those areas where the student is showing improvement.
Shanon is the best. I'm about to finish my first term with her and I feel I've made great progress, especially as an adult beginner who's never played music before. She helped me get an instrument and she's always available to answer my questions. 100% would recommend!
I havent played violin since high school but I wanted to get back into it. Suzanne has been incredibly patient and has really helped me remember how much I love playing violin. Our lessons are fun and she has given me excerpts that make practicing more enjoyable then ever.

My name is Jorge De la Cruz, I am 21 years old, and I am from South America. I started playing the violin when I was five years old, at the National Conservatory of Music (Lima, Peru), studying with Fabian Silva Franco (ex-conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra in Peru) and years later, with Maria Foust (actual Concertmaster of the N.S.O. in Peru). I've played with different Orchestras in my country, and here in the United States. As a teacher, I've worked with a Russian association of musicians, by providing music lessons totally free, for low-income people in Peru. I've worked also in the most important music store and academy in my country for 3 years. I use a suitable and different method for each student under my supervision, getting very fast results and working in their special goals. It focuses on theory and technique. I love teaching music lessons; and under my supervision, you will learn fast! I am perfectionist, my method is proof of an entire life playing the violin.
