Juan Moreno was AWESOME! He was knowledgeable, quick, honest, and helpful. He even went out of his way to fix a fence issue I had without me even asking. He created a plumbing line to a closet in my home, now I have an in house washer and dryer and I couldn't be happier. I look forward to working with him in the future on another project. Thanks Juan!!

I initially called Sam because my AC unit was not working - machine would turn on but the outside fan would not spin. Even though we were in the midst of a heat wave, Sam squeezed me in the day after I reached out. He was on-time, he came prepared and he diagnosed and fixed my issue in no time at all. He also put in a 2 pounds of freon. He took the time to explain everything that he was doing so that I would understand what was going on. Good customer service! Since he also works on appliances, I asked him to look at my refrigerator because the compressor has been making a 'clunking' noise. He pulled the refrigerator out, took a look at the issue and told me that it was nothing to worry about. While back there, he mentioned that my unit could use a good dusting. When I told him I didn't have the right brush, he gave me his. No charge for inspecting my unit or for the brush. My washer was also broken (when it rains, it pours) - machine wasn't spinning during the spin cycle. He diagnosed the issue in about 5 minutes. Because he didn't have the parts, he told me he'd call me later with a quote. And he did! No prompting needed. He came back the next day and fixed the washer. Because he was there, I asked him to do some work on the dryer too. He corrected my dryer issue - no charge. Sam is great! He's qualified, capable, friendly and very cost-effective. He doesn't nickel and dime you when you have a whole host of issues to address. And he takes the time to explain what he is doing and what he recommends that you do next. I'll definitely be calling him again.

Nick found the problem with our 20-year-old Maytag washer quickly. The cost of the part needed for repair was too much to spend on a washer of this age so we decided to buy a new one instead of repairing it. But we were impressed with Nick and will call him for future repairs of our appliances.

Hector was a pleasure to deal with. I needed some help fixing my washer ASAP and I put a post on thumbtack in the evening. Hector quickly scheduled me in for the next day. He came on time, was very professional, knowledgable, and reasonably priced. I've been using the washer for a month now and everything is working great. I would recommend Hector in a second. Thanks for your help!

Thank you A2Z for the prompt and great service of our BOSCH washer and dryer. We called Andy because our 17 yr old washer was making some weird clanking sound like a screw got loose and is caught in the drum. We tried taking the unit apart and check it ourselves, but we couldn't find the source so we decided to call A2Z. Andy was able to make an appointment for us a few days later and gave us a window of time. I can certainly understand that because in his line of work, you never know how long a repair is going to take. Andy did call just before coming by to let us know so we are expecting him and he was able to locate the source of our problem within a few minutes. Some loose change go caught and he removed it without any difficulties. He didn't try to sell us other bells and whistles and even complimented that our 17 year old machines are running impressively well. Thank you Andy for the prompt and responsive service.

Phil was recommended by a family friend. I called him for help my when husband and I came home from vacation to find our fridge on the fritz. Everything in the fridge was not very cool and the stuff in the freezer not frozen. Liquid ice cream - yuck! Phil called me back promptly and asked me questions to help diagnose the problem. When he came out to look at the fridge he was able to confirm the problem was fixable but shared because the particular replacement part (compressor) was expensive it wouldnt be worth it. Phil recommended a few options on refridgerator brands and stores. At the end of the day we saved hundreds because of Phil’s advice. About a year and a half we hired him to fix our washer. So glad we did. I would recommend Phil to anyone who wants to hire a very honest, hardworking, professional person.

Rigo was amazing, I had the daunting task of assembling and putting a stackable washer/dryer and hooking everything up in a closet in my new home. He was super patient and knowledgeable and even went the extra mile and help me buy the additional parts needed to get the job done. Awesome guy! Would highly recommend and will be using him in the future for any plumbing needs! :)

This review is based on a phone call I had with Eric . I already knew that the drum in my front loading washer was loose based on my research. I asked Eric if it was worth it to have him come out and fix the drum. He quickly responded that the drum was a costly fix that did not come with a factory warranty. He added that it made more sense to buy a new washer altogether so that it would come with a store warranty. I was amazed that he was so honest, advising me against a costly repair that he could definitely end up profiting from. My washer/dryer was stacked so I asked him if I had to replace it with the same brand name washer. He advised me that I could buy a different brand washer that was the same width length as my current Samsung washer to stack. It was awesome that there are still some honest people out there willing to help another person. I was just so used to dealing with sneaky repair personnel in the past making it a point to come out and take my money for a quick buck. Talking to a truly honest man like Eric was very refreshing. I would not hesitate to call OC Appliance Masters for any of my future repair needs.

Andrey came out the same day to look at my broken washing machine. He diagnosed the problem, and he was totally direct about whether it was worth a repair versus buying a new washer. I appreciate the honesty and respect he showed me. I bought a new washer, but will definitely use this service in the future if I have any other issues.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
