Tried voice lessons for the first time. Nicholas is a great guide and very encouraging. A pro.
Marla is a wonderful teacher. I was looking for someone who specializes in classical vocal training and she was perfect. I've had 4 lessons so far and am learning a lot about the mechanics of proper diaphragm usage, placements in order to produce the ideal sound. One thing to remember about learning any instrument (and yes, your voice is an instrument!) is that you won't master it overnight or even over the course of a couple of months. It takes time, practice, and perseverance. So far Marla has been an excellent teacher and I look forward to continue working with her.
Our granddaughter Emily, has taken voice lessons with Brigitte since she was 8. At the time, no one else we talked to would take an 8 year old. Brigitte has been wonderful. Emily loves her lessons, has learned a lot and has grown so much in vocal range and styles. Brigitte's lessons are fun yet structured. She has a ongoing plan for vocal achievement and regularly schedules performances which encourages practicing and then shows off the benefits practicing. Emily has learned much more ...although she hasn't taken piano lessons, she is always at the piano trying to play a song she just heard or needs to work on for a show and she pretty much accomplishes the task. We are so pleased with Brigitte, that Emily's younger sister has started lessons now. We will be with Brigitte for several years.
As a professional musician, I have studied and worked at my craft for many years. Longer than a doctor went to med school and longer than a lawyer went to law school. I am first and foremost a pianist. I perform, I teach, and I share. I also do lots of vocal coaching since I have an extensive background in professional theater. I have played the piano for nearly a dozen Broadway shows in NYC and have musical directed hundreds of musicals from high school and community theaters, to regional and professional stages. I have also accompanied and played for many high profile entertainers, politicians, and Broadway stars. I am also the new Resident Music Director of the Berkeley Playhouse Theatre in Berkeley, CA. I want to continue to offer personal and private lessons to kids and adults alike as I make this transition from the East Coast to the Bay Area. I also run a very successful in-home music studio in the DC metro area, and with my passion to teach, I want to continue that here in CA. My services include piano lessons; vocal coaching; audition prep; musical directing; music transposition services; music arranging; recording backing tracks; piano accompaniment for your performance, recital or audition; and piano entertainment on any style of music for your event. All lessons are collaborative and hands on, and not at all stuffy or boring. This is not your mother's piano lesson. I am only accepting 10 new students, so join now.
I enjoy teaching all ages and levels of students. I also love helping them build confidence in their ability to achieve, both academically and socially. I have a comprehensive method of teaching, founded in classical and contemporary music and integrated with music theory. Students have different needs and I choose material or method books that cater to each student's age, personality, and visual/auditory/kinesthetic learning style. To inspire my students, I keep a mix of music styles and genres in their repertoire, for example, classical, boogie woogie, Latin, and Pop. Many of my students love to write their own pieces, so I incorporate improvisation and composition into their lessons. I feel grateful that I have a career I love. The quotation that has inspired me the most is from Sir Thomas Beecham, "The function of music is to release us from the tyranny of conscious thought." I provide ample opportunity for my students to publicly perform and showcase their progress. Annual formal recitals, NATS group recitals as well as audition workshops are regularly held. Advanced students are encouraged to participate in competitions such as the NATS Singing Festival held every Spring, solo recitals and community theatre. These various services make my offerings the highest-quality vocal education experience in the area. My students receive a premium service and attain premium results.

Professional singers offer voice lessons and vocal coaching for all ages. Get ready for auditions and concerts, or sing better in your choir. Be proud of your karaoke singing. Be a better singer and speaker. We are classically trained singers, and we have sung in operas, operettas, musical theaters, concerts, sacred and cantorial music. We can help you learn to sing well and breath correctly. Our students like it when others tell them how well they sing. Their speaking voices become more resonant, too.
