Kristina is a patient instructor and a compassionate and kind person! She makes learning Spanish fun and is able to apply concepts to real-life situations, increasing knowledge retention. I have been seeing her for 6 weeks now to help with medical spanish, and I can't say enough positive things about the experience :)
Cristian is very creative in designing Spanish lessons specific to my needs. He is providing a joint lesson for me and my daughter. We get hands on practice and plenty of useful homework.
In addition to his professional instruction in Spanish vocabulary, grammar, syntax and idiom, Jacek provided nuanced insight into our study. He is uniquely prepared to present the study of the Spanish language holistically with its unique nuances.
I have been taking Spanish lessons from Ms. Price. She is incredibly personable, knowledgeable and helpful. My Spanish skills have soared since I've started with her. Very friendly, she is an excellent teacher. She knows where weak points are and knows how to explain advanced subjects in a way which is very understandable. I am definitely going to continue lessons and I highly recommend Ms. Price to anyone who is seeking to improve their language skills.
My boyfriend and I just wrapped up a two-hour Italian lesson with Carmela and she is incredible! We have very different levels of understanding and experience with Italian as well as very different learning styles and she was able to make the lesson dynamic and meaningful for us both. We can't wait to meet with her again!
Darya tutored and advised me throughout my senior year of high school and my first year at college. Having Darya by my side throughout the stress of a year and a half journey has had a significant impact in my life. Although Darya's main responsibility was to tutor me for my Advanced Placement (AP) Literature class, she went above and beyond to what I expected of an English tutor. She helped me find my inner voice as a writer through tutoring me about grammar, organization, and vocabulary. She also helped boost my confidence as an underprivileged Latina studying in the STEM field as a computer science major at the University of California: Santa Cruz. I passed both my AP Government and AP Literature classes and tests which is significant because both required a heavy amount of analytical writing; I graduated high school with honors and with the highest cumulative grade point average (GPA), 3.7, at any time of my academic career. One week before I was going to take my SAT for the third time, I mentioned to Darya that I was struggling understanding a large portion of the Math section of the test. To my surprise, she was thoroughly capable skilled in tutoring me in math, along with English. In less than seven days, Darya was able to successfully prepare me for my last SAT test; subsequently, my SAT score improved by more than 100 points. If we had more time to go through the preparation book, I could have further surpassed this amazing progress. Another aspect in which Darya supported me in my college application and preparation process was in guiding me to refine my college essays for both private and public universities: as a result, I was accepted to more than half of the colleges that I applied to. Finally, I am most grateful for Darya and her efforts towards my success because of the high number of scholarships that I received in the second semester of my senior year in high school. Through Darya’s excellent editing and writing abilities, I was able to accumulate more than $200,000 in scholarship rewards from four different organizations. I could never have imagined this much triumph before meeting Darya; without these scholarship awards, I would have been forced to work during my breaks and during school to afford a college education. Now, all that I have to worry about is learning as much as I can while I am at UCSC. On account of my strong achievements in less than a year with Darya, I still utilize the many tips and lessons that she has instilled in me. As a result of this, I excelled in my classes at UCSC with a cumulative GPA of 3.6. Because of my outstanding academic success in the first quarter of college, I was exclusively invited by the university to apply to the College Scholars Program; this two-year program selects 20 students out of about 200 students applying from each college at UCSC to help give them meaningful academic challenges. Not only do I recognize Darya as one of the most significant people in my life because of my solid academic accomplishments, but also due to the genuine passion she holds to be sure that her tutees succeed. As her tutee, she constantly reminded me of my own abilities to encourage my confidence. We are still in contact today which further demonstrates her enthusiasm for her tutees. She is evidently benevolent, motivated, and intelligent, and I highly recommend her tutoring and guidance talents to any student who is fortunate enough to be her tutee.

I teach conversational Spanish. I love a good conversation and meeting people. I am a native speaker of Spanish and I know very well the subtleties of This language, its formalities and colloquialisms. In my classes I like to integrate the language and the sociocultural contexts in which it comes alive. To integrate the language with the respective sociocultural and historical contexts in which this life works.
I approach my students with the assumption that they will do well. Often, American students do not understand the nuances of grammar. I can explain how the grammar in Spanish my reflect the same thing in English. Then, they understand and can master the material. This is true with romance languages which use the subjunctive much more than in English. It is also true of reflexive verbs and their use.
I've worked in Arthur Murray Dance Academy for 2 years, competed and performed many times, and I really enjoy teaching. Music has been a passion of my family through the years, and it's part of my culture.
Lingua Franca Academy is a company that offers Spanish and English classes to adults and businesses using a conversational method of teaching. Rather than listen to a lecture, students speak during 50% or more of the class time and are able to develop linguistic agility by using the language immediately with the help of their instructor. We seek to provide interesting, interactive classes for our students without the need to assign homework because we understand that students have busy lives and we are confident in our ability to teach concepts that will be memorable through our in-class exercises. If you have tried traditional methods of learning and have not achieved the linguistic agility you had hoped for, we invite you to try our method and judge the results for yourself.
I am a multilingual marketing professional with more than 4 years of experience in San Francisco and Barcelona. I am originally from Barcelona, Spain and currently based in San Francisco. I have a service company in Costa Rica and San Francisco, but for more than 6 years, I was a teacher. My students said "Hey, you have a great talent to explain about different topics." That is the reason I want to keep in touch with great people, people to have the goals to be better.
I grew up In Puerto Rico, and lived in Barcelona. I have studied French most of my adult life. I know how to teach languages and to learn them. I understand the grammar and the tenses and their importance in mastering Spanish. Many American students do not understand grammar in English, but I can explain it to them and it is helpful. This is especially true with the use of the subjunctive, which is used a lot in romance languages, but not so much in English.
I am able to provide excellent Spanish instruction as I received a BA in Spanish from my undergraduate education, lived, studied, and worked abroad in Argentina, Spain, and Mexico and have taught Spanish at UC Berkeley while I was pursuing my graduate studies.
