My daughter has taken a few lessons with Carl, and she is very happy with his style of teaching. I hired Carl with the need to prepare my daughter for the SAT exam. Carl was extremely flexible in scheduling the tutoring sessions around my daughters schedule. I have enjoyed listening to Carl tutor my daughter greatly. He has a great sense of humor, and has a special method in teaching, which can just about help anyone in finding the answer and/or struggles that one is having in learning the English language properly. Each time that Carl arrives for the sessions, he is prepared and ready to tutor without wasting any time. Carl is a very knowledgeable and an experienced tutor, and I believe he has the best method in preparing for the SAT. As a bonus, he is very nice, and reasonably priced considering how much he is helping my daughter to prepare for her first life-changing exam. I would definitely use his services again, and would highly recommend him to anyone.
Joyee Lin of Thinque has been nothing short of amazing. Professional with results to show. My daughter started working with Joyee a couple of months ago. Within six lessons, my daughter's composite ACT score went from a 28 prior to working with Joyee to a 32. Amazingly, her science score went from a 25 to a 32. Those numbers are the end result of Joyee's professional approach to teaching. During the lesson, Joyee utilizes a number of methods to present the material. It must be said that my daughter took his instruction seriously and worked hard on the material which was provided to her. The result was a good example of team work in which my daughter could receive, in addition to immediate instruction, quick review and understanding after working through the material. Joyee makes it easy to work around a busy lifestyle as he schedules and responds to correspondence promptly. We can't offer him enough praise. Joyee is offering an amazing service and we were so glad to have been referred to him.

Stephanie is a wonderful French teacher and I am so sorry we have to say goodbye (but we are moving to Montreal). My twin daughters began 5 months ago with absolutely no French experience and learned a tremendous amount simply from their weekly sessions with Stephanie. Stephanie is committed to the best way for the student to learn French (first audibly) and goes the extra mile (and time). I highly recommend Stephanie for any French lesson needs!
Nuria Fortier was my Spanish teacher for fall 2014 through the International Language School for Children and Adults. I am an adult, beginner level spanish language student with some previous beginner coursework. Our Saturday morning one-hour classes are held at Pitzer College and ran from September through December into January. I am very impressed with Nuria's language instruction. She meets the students where he/she is in their learning, yet also helps you to challenge yourself (for example speaking as much as possible in Spanish during lesson). She stresses the importance of grammar and verb conjugation structures within conversational Spanish lesson. She constructs lessons so that we come into contact with verbs and then we address the conjugation. She recommended two very good books for beginner level that we use during the lesson, and also introduces fun story reading (at children's level which is actually very good for beginner adult learner). Nuria is very professional and reliable, and encouraging for an adult language learner! Nothing negative to report. Nuria has also created a local Spanish speaking group of current and former students who meet to practice Spanish and I am looking forward to joining this group. Thank you Nuria! I recommend ILSCA and Nuria Fortier for Spanish language. Her Children's programs are also very well attended.
Can't say enough about Roxanne. She used a variety of tools and methods that really helped me learn and kept me engaged, including conservations, books, movies, and fun writing assignments. Her professionalism is only matched by her patience and good nature. Spending time learning French with Roxanne became the highlight of my week. You will not be disappointed, and you will not not learn!
Very comfortable to speak with even though I’m typically uncomfortable speaking French to people out of embarrassment for my pronunciation
I really enjoy learning French with Peggy, I learn about the french culture as well. She is patient and she is a good coach and gives homework! Je parle Français de mieux en mieux!

Luisa is an outstanding teacher. I work for a Government Agency and French happens has become more and more important for National Security. I was scheduled to travel to Europe and had to be able to communicate in French in a matter of weeks. I contacted Luisa and she taught me fundamental expressions with impeccable accent.(According to the locals) I was able to comply with my task. Don't go anywhere else.
Anne-Margret uses such creative approaches to language learning! Since I'm passionate about music, she found that I responded best to learning French through song. She's brilliant, multilingual, and has degrees in linguistics. Her specialty is finding connections between different languages to make learning a new language as simple as possible for each student by capitalizing on what her pupils already know. I highly recommend her!
I have experience teaching in three continents and have traveled to Central and South America and Mexico. I've lived in Europe for six years and studied culinary arts, Spanish humanities and taught ESL in Madrid and Salamanca, Spain. I have training in Lindamood-Bell, functional, notational, proficiency, direct, inductive (immersion, natural and discovery/self-actualization) methods as well as TPR and child/adolescent behavior and humanistic psychology. I am certified in VA (where Common Core really started in the 80s) to teach Spanish K-12. I enjoy writing and am presently enrolled in a course with Troon Harrison and the Children's Literary Institute in CT to write for children and young adults. I have sold photographs to Highlights Magazine related to travel to Hispanic countries and natural science/anthropology. I have taught graduate students at business schools, numerous Big Eight companies, university students and all levels of Spanish and English for K -12. I read, write, speak and understand fluent Castellano as well as South and Central American, Puerto Rican, Cuban and Mexican dialects/accents. My future aspirations include translation, publication/journalism (in either Spanish or English) and bilingual education.
I recently moved back to Los Angeles after living in France for two years. I do part-time tutoring to help anybody that would like to improve their language skills. I have a B.A. in politics from UC Santa Cruz, and I also completed all the French language courses in my university just because I was determined to master this language. I have a fluent conversation level and can also read and write the language. I will help you improve in any of these areas if you are ready to put in the work.
Hi! My name is Marion. I am French. I moved to LA for my acting career. I am fluent in English and I, myself, am still working on reducing my French accent; so I know how it works and how to learn that, step by step. I have done some design studies in school and some artistic ones (first, in applied arts in high school before my design degree, then acting, TV hosting and coaching). I have been a model for 10 years and traveled the world. I think communication is so important, and I love the idea of learning a new language and the culture, thoughts and habits that go with. I have always been very good in writing. I write and read a lot. I never do any spelling mistakes in French, and I am really good at it. I just love to see someone talk better and better in my language every day. It is motivating and a very good thing to me. I can help you achieve your goal. Marion
I grew up part of my life in Los Angeles, California, and the other part in Merida Yucatan in Mexico. I have taught Spanish both to retirees living in Mexico from United States and Europe and in the United States. This is a side job I do about 8 to 10 hours per week. I am completely fluent in both English and Spanish. I am self-taught in Spanish, and although I am fluent now, when I was young, I had to figure the language out for myself. This gives me an edge that native Spanish speakers don't have. I have always gotten a lot of good feedback from everyone I have tutored in Spanish, and I hope to work with you in the near future!
I lived in Europe all my life, and I perfectly speak English, French, German and Luxembourgish. Furthermore, I learned them in a short period of time.
As a native from Paris and a teacher for a big company, I will be happy to help you to accomplish your goal.
My services include the following: * Spanish Tutoring (entry and intermediate level) * French Tutoring (entry level) * Arabic Tutoring (entry and intermediate level)
