From start to finish, it was truly a pleasure to work with Alisa and her top notch team at Passionate Plates. We appreciated her flexibility and cooperation during the planning stages to prepare food for 60 guests at our wedding in Sonoma on Sept. 17, 2016. I am especially grateful for finding such a high quality caterer such as Alisa's Passionate Plates via the Thumbtack website after our caterer had to back out just two months before our wedding due to medical reasons. Foremost, we had nothing but rave reviews from our wedding guests for the high quality of the food, including choices for seafood lovers, steak, chicken, vegetarians and wonderful side dishes. On the big day, her team arrived at the wedding venue to prepare everything fresh and perfectly on schedule based on the timing of the service for a lunch reception. We opted for a more simple buffet style and this worked out extremely well for us. In addition, her team did a superb job with general execution in both the high quality of the food, clearing the tables and leaving the venue's kitchen and table settings sparkling. I have rated Passionate Plates "5 stars" but would give them higher, if possible! Rest assured, you will not regret working with Alisa and her first class team at Passionate Plate.
Graham cooked for me at 10 year wedding anniversary which was outdoors at a private location in Stinson Beach on October 24, 2015. I met with Graham maybe a month before my event. I was very specific about everything I wanted for my special day. We had a few kids and a total of about 50 people so I wanted to make sure that he was a good fit for me and my guest of families. I did not want a fancy foie gras chef although I think Graham is in that league. I wanted someone who would cook a good meal and I wanted to be satisfied at the end of the day. Graham met with me and my mom and made us a sample from my Mediterranean menu. After spending a little time with Graham, I knew I wanted to hire him. He was charming and professional and his food was delicious. At my party he helped make my event go smoothly. He made 3 different salads, grilled chicken, salmon and beef kabobs for my lunch party. It was a beautiful day and my guest were so happy with the meal and also found Graham to be very charming! He is gem! Thank you so much Graham! I hope we can have you cook for us again in the future.
Dining at Graceful Kitchen, Grace Zhous pop-up restaurant, was a unique and delightful experience. Grace planned a series of original and authentic courses, taking into account vegetarian preferences, which were cooked and served with style. The setting was immaculately prepared, courses arrived within a reasonable time, and guests were entertained with music and conversation. Regulars are only sorry that she moved to another country!
Chef James Reid quickly impressed me with his enthusiasm, communication skills and professionalism during one of his cooking classes on Sauce Making 101. I had the pleasure of attending this three hour class where he demonstrated and evaluated several basic sauces, with precision and perfection! Of particular value to me was Chef Reids use of stocks to make simple but delicious sauces and the multitude ways I can use in various, savory dishes! You'll learn a lot from Chef Reid! I heartily endorse him for any teaching role and look forward to taking another class soon!
James was great to work with for the appetizer menu for a cocktail party at my home for 25 guests. He was accomodating and creative when it came to coming up with vegetarian alternatives for my guests was well. His beef, chicken, and crab cake appetizerz were gobbled up quickly leading me to think the portions could have been slightly more generous. It was a pleasure working with James and will call upon him again.
Angela made our family a dinner. We are not gluten free or vegetarian normally, so it's an endorsement when our kids eat vegetarian. We had a cauliflower soup, a couple of different vegetarian items like stuffed mushrooms for the main meal and several dessert items. It was all delicious, but the things that were especially amazing were the fresh tomatoe tarts (gluten free-couldn't tell) and these strawberry and cream tartlets (different crust from the tomato.) We left the table fat and happy! I have also had her cream filled chocolate cupcakes on another occasion which were also spectacular.
Sophie was a pleasure to deal with and cooked a delicious meal for us. No fuss. Just damn delicious.
Marisa has provided catering for several parties of mine, from intimate fine dining (herb and garlic prime rib roast) to parties of 50+ (build your own taco bar). Everytime she is spot on with the menus, tailoring it for different audiences. I just give her a general idea and she makes the magic happen! She has always been professional, prompt and friendly. Her food is delicious and I highly recommend all the meals she has made for me. I have had almost everything from vegetarian meals and salads to bbq and desserts. Very talented chef!
We had Anja come over and do a cooking class for our company employees and significant others. She helped craft an amazing menu, wine pairings and tasty treats. Everything went off without a hitch and people couldn't stop raving about how much they enjoyed her instruction. While the food was great, it was her personality and pleasant spirit that really made this an awesome experience. Couldn't recommend her more highly.
Elyse is incredible! I hired her to cater my sister's baby shower and she did such an amazing job that I went on to hire her as my personal chef. I am currently finishing my doctorate degree and at the time I had classes from 8:00AM-9:00PM which made it difficult for me to make healthy meals. Every week Elyse would deliver a basket filled with delicious home-cooked meals that were catered to my personal tastes. She was always open to suggestions and requests, and found creative ways to make certain dishes vegetarian for me. When I was feeling under the weather, she made me an amazing miso soup and other dishes to help me feel better. I was so sad when she left the Bay Area to go to the East Coast; her cooking was the highlight of my week. As a caterer, she is very professional. She will work closely with you to create a menu that will suit the occasion perfectly. She really takes care of everything to make sure you can relax and indulge in a fantastic meal. Every guest at my sister's shower raved about the food and all wanted to hire her for their next event.
We absolutely loved our french cooking lesson with Mashav! She created a custom menu for the class based on our suggestions and fresh local ingredients. She walked us through each step carefully and answered all of our questions. The final result -- 4 made-from-scratch french dishes -- was phenomenal. To top it all off, Mashav was very organized and easy to plan the class with.
So glad we found Dan's company on this website. From the first point of contact he was completely on top of everything. At first we wanted to have a cooking class, but after talking with him about the other types of experiences he could offer, we went with a demonstration/dinner party which was so much better than an actual class. We went with the Cotogna inspired menu and got to learn just as much, while spending time with our friends drinking wine. Perfect night!
Norwood created an awesome themed birthday dinner for 13 people at our place. The entire process was smooth, creative and right on target...we ended up with a 'Vegetarian Asian Street Food Tapas' theme complete with a Thai Boxer cocktail. He was professional, clean and a pleasure to work with together. I'd highly recommend him for any home event! Our guests haven't stopped sending their compliments on an amazing evening...
Tessa is an amazing culinary instructor and chef! My boyfriend and I took her Thanksgiving Basics class and loved it. The class was informative and fun, with the perfect balance of hands-on cooking and demonstrations. We got to take home some delicious recipes handcrafted by Tessa - which I will definitely using for Thanksgivings to come!
To anyone looking to hire a personal chef- I highly recommend Paige! She was incredible. From the time we began communicating, she was responsive and walked me through the process (I am new to this)! She worked with me to create a beautiful vegetarian meal for 30 guests! She took care of everything from soup to nuts (no pun intended!). She worked tirelessly, cleaned up and was so nice to my entire family. I would recommend her without hesitation!
Transitioning from meat eater to vegetarian was smooth because of the effortless coaching from Tena. When purchasing my customized meal plan/grocery list, she put into consideration my individual tastes and equipment, which made detoxing enjoyable. The one thing I have to say that stands out when working with Tena is her customer service; she patiently answers questions and puts much thought and research into her responses. Had a VERY delicious and nutritious pre - race meal: pasta, salad, and fruit. There was also ribs which I didn't eat since I'm vegetarian. Others who ate them just raved about how delicious they were and went back for 2nds & 3rds. There wasn't much food left at the end of the evening. Lorenzo can cook for me any time.
