Kev did a good job putting in a new faucet and fixing a leaking tank. For both these jobs it took him 4 hours but he charged me for only 3 hours which I appreciated. I had got fixed prices quotes from master plumbers for both jobs for a similar amount. Kev isn't a master plumber but has enough experience to get the job done. This is why he charges a lower fee than master plumbers. The job did take longer than expected as our house is old and we encountered unexpected problems. Lev worked through them and got the job done.

This guy is the real deal. You can tell he has years of experience because of how good he is at improvising. He helped patched up a leak in the kitchen drain in just 20 mins. Made arrangements to get it done when two other plumbers flaked on us.

Arisel helped fix some fence boards, hang 3 artwork and 1 mirror, install tv wall mount bracket. He was cheerful and friendly and it was easy to communicate with him. The artwork were all different sizes and had to be hung on the same wall, so he took the time to make sure they all line up. He asked me for my preferences before he hung each piece. He came up with some workarounds when we hit a snag with the tv mount & fence boards. I will definitely be using him for other work around the house.

My newly installed water heater stopped pumping hot water on a late Saturday afternoon. I panicked as we have young children in the house and needed the problem fixed immediately. No plumber was available to come in the same day on short notice. I contacted Byron and within less than an hour he was at my house and was able to fix the problem. He was very professional and explained what the issues were. Byron saved us from disastrous weekend without hot water!

Gustavo and his crew did excellent work. He was professional and prompt with communication. They were diligent with their work. After loading all of the dirt into the truck to be hauled, they cleaned up our property with a blower and left it looking very good. We would definitely recommend them and want to hire them in the future for projects.

Dinh changed out my water heater and some of the piping around it since it was old. He showed up on time and upon completion, made sure the heater turned on and was functional. He followed up the next day to see that there weren't any issues . Overall was satisfied with the work performed.

Rocky is by far the best professional plumber I have come across. Timely, Professional, on time, excellent work ethics, honest, genuine are some of the words that define Rocky and his professional service. Very pleased I made a decision to hire him. He spent more then necessary time to ensure his work was good and satisfactory. even though assignment went over time due to some minor fixes, Ricky did not charge a penny extra and stuck to his commitment on price. I would always hire Rocky for any plumbing needs and would highly recommend him to anyone who does not know too much about plumbing or new house owner as he will guide you through the process and will not cheat you.

It was an excellent first experience using Thumbtack. Darryl from Unlimited Building and Plumbing contacted me within 30 minutes of having posted a request. I called and we arranged for one of their plumbers to come over first thing the next morning . Luis arrived within the agreed upon time. He thoughtfully accessed the problem. It turned out to be a simple fix. And he changed a fair price for his time and expertise. I will certainly call on Unlimited in the future. Thank you!

We had the issue for more than 3 weeks because plumbers were not showing up. Gave the job order yesterday around 4pm, come out the same day and finished the task the next day. Job well done for Justin! Very reliable and responsive. Will definitely hire him for other plumbing repairs.

Hugo is very good person, he always answered my phone calls, arrives on time, very friendly, and honest. I needed new plumbing and few other things. I met him on Monday and I felt like I dont have to interview another plumber. He finished his job on Wednesday taking his few hours of time. He explains everything what he is doing which gives me confidence in knowing what is happening to the plumbing line. A contractor quoted me $100 for plugging in the new dishwasher, but Hugo said it is just connecting to the existing line, it will not cost anything. As a new homer, I can see how people are trying to fool for the lack of knowledge we carry on things. But Hugo's service is such that he wants to assure that he serves his best and makes sure that once he leaves the home we are peaceful too, by doing all possible tests to make sure there is no leakage. I recommend him to my friends and family. He is my plumber for my new home for any of my needs.

I highly recommend Flelix & Flex One Plumbing! Flelix “snaked” and cleared a clog in my 70 foot main sewer line in my Los Altos house for only $185 ( I have a readily accessible clean out on the side of my house). Other plumbers were quoting $220 plus ( one guy, who I found while googling wanted $450!). In addition, Flelix returned to my house on 8/14 and ran a camera through that 67 year old main sewer line of mine FOR FREE! Others had quoted $350 - $450 for such a service. I wanted a diagnosis of that old sewer line ( any offsets, root incursion, irregular line sloping ect. ) in order to plot long term strategies for keeping the line going. Look, it always makes sense to hire or at least get a quote from a guy like Flelix- an extremely experienced guy who has worked for the much more expensive major plumbing outfits for decades and who now is independent ( for two years now). He’s just as good, just as competent, has all the same equipment as the big boys but he charges a lot less BECAUSE HE DOESNT HAVE THE OVERHEAD THAT THEY DO. Plus you can trust an independent guy like Flelix because any nefarious interactions would most certainly be mentioned on review or feedback forums like this one. Do yourself a big favor, at least get a quote from this guy. Not only can he offer competitive & competent solutions but also the peace of mind that comes from a potential long term plumbing affiliation, knowing that you won’t get ripped off by unnecessary and OVERLY EXPENSIVE plumbing work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

How do you find a good plumber?

Whether you need a plumber to perform drain repair, install a new fixture, or replace rusty pipes, you need to make sure you hire someone reliable who will finish your job on time and within budget. Start by asking the plumbers on your short list these questions:

  • What is the total cost? Make sure your estimate includes materials and labor. Find out whether the plumber will be providing the materials and whether you’re being charged an hourly rate (which is variable) or a flat fee.
  • Is removal and cleanup included in the job? Some plumbers leave behind old parts, while others include the cleanup in the cost.
  • Is the work guaranteed? Find out whether the work (as well as the parts or fixtures) are guaranteed under a warranty.
