I’ve been where you are — and I know what it takes to transform. During the 2020 lockdown, I went from 215 lbs to 245 lbs of lean muscle by dialing in my training and nutrition. That transformation taught me something powerful: when you combine the right program with the right guidance, your body will change. I’ve spent years learning the science behind it — earning my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science — so I can help you do the same. What makes me different: I don’t believe in cookie-cutter programs. Your body, your goals, and your schedule are unique, your training should be too. Whether you want to lose weight, build strength, or just feel confident in your body again, I’ll create a personalized plan that fits YOUR life. What you get working with me: • Customized strength training programs designed for real results • Nutrition guidance to fuel your workouts and accelerate fat loss • Accountability and progress tracking so you SEE the results — not just feel them • A coach who actually listens, adjusts, and keeps you motivated I train the way I coach — at 6’8” and 255 lbs lean, I’m proof that my methods work. But this isn’t about me. It’s about helping you become the strongest, healthiest version of yourself. First session is a free assessment. No pressure, no gimmicks — just a conversation about your goals and a plan to get there. Let’s get to work.See more

Marty S. says, "I've been training with Dan Fine for just over 5 years now, and he's the ONLY reason I've actually got anywhere. I'd done the same pointless gym routines everyone does and gained basically nothing, so when my office moved down the road from North Hollywood Gold's I decided to join and watch the trainers for a couple of months. You know how gyms are - pick the wrong trainer and you're stuck with him/her unless you want the uncomfortable "break-up" chat and then you have to see them every time you go (it's happened to me). I decided on Dan because he was clearly genuinely focused on his clients, which most trainers are not, and whoever I asked about him said he was the real deal. I picked well. He's a big dude, but don't let that fool you - he's a totally cool guy that tailors the workout to what you want out of it. His other clients are all ages and abilities. Be prepared to really do it, but that's why we're there, right? My body started changing because we hit it hard, and properly, and he taught me how to eat to gain. I had no idea food really is at least 50% of the process. Anyway, 5 years later I get a lot of compliments on my body now, which is awesome and weird for me since I was always the skinny guy, and so have gained a lot of confidence from that. It's been a life-changer, as they say. I guess the most important thing for me is that we always have a blast when we train - it makes it so much easier for me to go since I'm not a real motivated guy. I still see many people from 5 years ago who literally haven't changed, coz they don't work out correctly and certainly don't eat correctly. Do yourself a favor and get a trainer that knows what they're talking about. Obviously I would recommend Dan, since IMHO he's the best (as evidence of this, he trains many peeps for competition with many first place finishes, so he knows his s**t). Just do me a favor and DO NOT take my timeslot... "See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Shop around to find the right type of boot camp class and the right instructor for you.

What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. Some instructors also provide DVD and online boot camps. You can also find boot camps tailored to your heart’s desire, such as bikini boot camp, or boot camps for new mothers. Boot camps offer an intense workout and are usually led by energetic instructors pushing you to do your best, but unlike military boot camp drill sergeants, fitness boot camp instructors typically don’t use intimidation or punishment to spur you on. Check with your doctor before starting a boot camp if you have health concerns, and always let your instructor know ahead of time if you have injuries.
