Blas helped me out with math, basics & Algebra 2. He came to my house for a couple months. I was impressed at how knowledgable he was in math & at life. He really went out of his way to not only be a tutor, but a positive role model. He was always punctual & helped me with any problem I needed help with, even if it wasn't in the section we were doing, or math related at all. Blas was a wonderful tutor, but most of all a mentor. Really pleased with his service.

When you are up to learn something new, you look for the best available. Mike provides the right knowledge to guide you in the right direction to learn how to play the guitar, After my 5th lesson with Mike, I'm capable to strum some nice Beatles songs ! I know most of the basics of the guitar and a good amount of cords and fingerpicking playing. Really glad I've chose Mike to be my guitar teacher, he goes at your pace and will make sure you got the lessons learned. Great experience

My last piano lesson was over 15 years ago! My teacher was great but she stuck to classical. I told her I wanted something more "fun" but Ragtime was not quite what I had in mind. I thought of taking lessons again for years and finally took action a few months ago. I was so nervous because I have forgotten everything! Sylvia is very patience, fun and knowledgably. She has a great personality and I feel very at ease taking lessons from her. So far, my lessons have been refreshers and I have been able to pick things up quickly - mainly because she is that great of a teacher. I look forward to my lessons and I cannot wait to get to the point where I can play something simple like a Yanni piece perfectly.

She's very knowledgeable about music and very passionate about what she does. I was very scared of taking piano lessons because I thought I was too old for it, but she helped me overcome that fear. She made me feel confident about myself and pushed me to do better. I really appreciate her patience and encouragements. I also liked how she's interested in the kind of music that I like to play. I told her I was more into church songs, so she found a music book that had songs for my level. I am very thankful for the effort that she put in so I could learn how to play and have fun at the same time.

I play lead guitar with popular rock group based out of Atlanta,. I met Rick Ellis at a recording studio in Los Angeles in early 2008 where he was laying down some of the most amazing bottle neck slide blues solo's for a movie soundtrack that I had ever seen or heard played on a twelve string acoustic guitar. I thought "who is this guy? He should be famous. He should be fricking rich." One of the engineer's told me that everybody say's the same thing. Someone called him one of the best kept secrets in the Southern California music scene. He is a singer/songwriter/virtuoso guitarist and session player who lives in Huntington Beach and is, hands down, the most humble musician I have ever met in my life. We went down the street for some coffee and sat and talked for well over an hour. Rick lives for guitars. He has been playing them for over forty years and he is literally a walking guitar encyclopedia. He has amassed an impressive collection of vintage guitars that he is very proud of and even prouder that he plays all of them. He explained how he had lived the rock n' roll life style when he was in his twenties and by the time he reached thirty he concluded that, for him, the lifestyle was not a good choice. He felt that his playing ability was a gift and that he had been using his gift the wrong way. He wanted to share his gift, but not from a stage before thousands of people. He decided that he would share his gift with just one person at a time as a guitar teacher. That was about thirty years ago and since then he has shared his gift, one person at a time, with thousands of people who became his students. He pioneered some teaching methods that are now used by guitar teachers around the world, he wrote a guitar instruction book and, over the years, he very methodically broke down many of the most complicated elements in music theory into their simplest forms which are easy to understand and digest and which enabled many of his students to reach levels of playing that was well beyond their expectations. Rick trains his students to achieve a level of playing where they could go anywhere and improvisationally play anything, anytime with anyone in any key and not only be able to tell you, note for note, how it is played, but also why it is played that way. I had been playing guitar for a lot of years and was mostly self taught. Everything I played was in a performance situation, so every song and every solo was planned, practiced and rehearsed over and over again hundreds of times. I really never excelled at improvisation because I never learned very much about music theory. I decided to take lessons from Rick and over the next eight months I learned a lot of theory which I applied to my playing. It changed my life. Rick really knows his stuff, He's is not only a great teacher, he is also an excellent communicator and motivator. His lessons are very well presented and he utilizes some very ingenious teaching methods. Even with the heavy doses of theory that I was receiving every week, each one hour lesson seemed to fly by. Rick reviewed the material covered in a lesson during the last ten minutes of each lesson and he would not dismiss me until he was absolutely convinced that I completely understood the material that was covered that day which would sometimes cause the lesson to go longer than one hour. It doesn’t matter if you are a raw beginner or an advanced player with many years of experience playing the guitar, you could look long and hard, but never find a better teacher than this humble guitarist from Huntington Beach, Rick Ellis.

Bill Jones is a true professional and we are so thrilled that we chose him to play classical guitar during our wedding ceremony. His skill was above and beyond our wildest dreams - he is so incredibly talented! He was responsive, kind, and professional throughout the wedding planning process. We knew having a live musician on the big day would create a more lively, organic, and elegant atmosphere for the ceremony, and with Bill's help we were absolutely able to achieve that dream. His timing was flawless and our guests were floored. He was easily able to accommodate our song requests, and the additional songs he chose for the seating of the guests, as well as cocktail hour, were perfectly appropriate and lovely. Cannot recommend Bill enough, and we are excited for the next time we can work with him!

My older son started lessons with Kevin about 1.5 years ago when he was 6. We had tried group lessons at pianoforte prior, but they did not keep his attention at all. Time and again, different friends would tell us stories about how their kids dreaded or quit playing piano because they didn't enjoy it. Our goal was to find a class that could build upon his joy of music, not to discourage it! So it was extremely refreshing to find Kevin, who truly has a gift for teaching piano in a way that makes it as positive and enjoyable for kids as possible. He's extremely patient as well as encouraging, a great combination when it comes to teaching young children anything that can be challenging at times. 6 months ago, we enrolled our 4 year old son into Miss. Clare's group lesson and it's been an equally wonderful experience. He was so delighted with the music he was learning that he would draw notes everywhere and would run downstairs to our piano in the morning and play the new music he had learned. Kevin and Clare are both incredibly professional and musically talented individuals, but possibly more importantly, their passion for teaching really shines when they are with their students. It's such a joy witnessing my boys learning the art of music in a truly warm, personal and caring environment. I am looking forward to watching my boys' love of music continue to grow with time and to establish a strong musical foundation to help them in their future. I would highly recommend FreshStart Piano Studio without reservation.

Monica was my first voice teacher, and I could not have chosen a better instructor. As an adult student, I was unsure of myself and I needed the patience of a teacher who would encourage and support me. Monica was very sensitive to my needs, and we became very good friends. Under Monica's guidance, I learned to enjoy my voice! She provided the foundation for my future work in singing. From a very shy singer with no confidence to a soloist and Church cantor---it all began with Monica's patience and hard work on my behalf. My only regret was that my work schedule would not allow me to continue with lessons from Monica, and it was quite a while before I found another voice teacher with whom I felt as comfortable. Monica îs an excellent voice teacher for all ages.

Dylan Furr is currently my guitar instructor and to sum up in the simplest words he is "amazing." I actually have only been going to Dylan for two weeks, I have no music experience, you can call me tone deaf, and I am managing to pick it up really fast. Would I call this beginner luck? Absolutely not! Dylan is knowledgeable as well as personable which creates for a happy and fun environment to learn. I am really grateful that I found an instructor who knows how to be a leader as well as a friend. Dylan is not only a rockstar on stage but as an instructor as well. If you want someone who knows how to teach, play music exceptionally, and has a great personality then I highly suggest Dylan Furr.

Gina took a very personal approach when we started our lessons. I suffered from sciatic pain after a lower back/ spasm injury due to a bulging disk so decided to try yoga to help strengthen my lower back and lessen my pain. She was always prepared with different poses to improve my health. She has a true passion for the practice and helping her patients. Gina was in it for the journey with me and I really appreciated that.

I have had three lessons with Jake so far and it has been great! He's been helpful in taking my guitar playing to the next level and has even been helping me with music theory and singing. I would recommend him to anyone else starting to learn guitar, especially other singing guitarists :)
