First of all - I made the appt, a couple of days ago...didn't realize i still needed to confirm prior. called him during his late lunch break and he still drove nearly an hr to come over to get the job done. Very professional!!!!! We have german roach infestation at home from neighbors tenting their newly purchased homes and roaches running to ours. after 2hrs of him applying the bait, i already started seeing the results. dead roaches laying all over the kitchen floor. it's amazing! this is by far a much better job than the previous guys we hired - they sprayed only, which repelled the bugs. killed them, but not completely. so a couple of months later, they populated again. I don't see that happening on William's baiting process. thanks again! see you in about 3 weeks for the 2nd visit.

They did a great job, in and out. I thought it would be an ordeal. Not a live bug found. Also the relief of knowing that if in the next two months anything turns up again, they will be here in a flash is a huge weight of my mind!

If you have any issues with bees this is your man. A virtual bee encyclopedia. Jose showed up right away, was unbelievably knowledgable and very inexpensive. He loves bees. He doesn't kill them but is incredibly thorough at removing them and making sure they don't return.

Greg was very helpful and informative. It's a two treatment process, the second one, he returns in 21 days. Did an excellent job! I would highly recommend him for bed bug elimination.

Pest Innovations did a great job. What impressed me the most was that the owner spent 30 minutes with me discussing my bed bug problem and options. They were also able to come out the next day after I called them. They worked their magic while I was at work. The only caution I have for anyone considering the high heat treatment is that it can damage items and paint. This was all explained to me however, and I made the choice to do it regardless. It was a small price to pay, however, and I am so relieved to be able to sleep again.

Howard with Five Star Pest control was incredibly efficient and genuinely kind. After a bed bug issue in my apartment became all too clear, I found Howard on Thumbtack and he extensively walked me through the process of preparation for fumigation. Howard stopped by at my home for the initial visit and I saw significant improvement in decline of bugs. He phoned me several time to check in on me and inquire about the status of my dilemma. After two weeks, he came by again for a follow-up and it's now been over 20 days with NO bed bugs! Thanks to Howard and Five Star Pest Control not only for a successful fumigation but for exceptional service!! I can't stress enough how grateful I am for the service during this stressful experience. Just call him, and you'll be able to tell in the friendly tone of his voice and conversation that you're dealing with quality. Thanks again!

Thank God for The Local Bug Guy. We have been loyal customers for quite a few years now. I never have a sign of ants or spiders after they spray my property. My service tech is friendly, respectful and thorough. His knowledge of other little critters around is great because he let's us know first what they are and what we can do get rid of them IF it is not something he can help with.

Treebark charges were minute and work was excellent. Instead of replacing my complete floor they killed all termites and gave guarantee of 1 year for any type of malfunction and noise. They make Flooring strong again. I recommended Treebark Pest Control and Termite to my friend you should do that so.

I needed an inspection done on my home immediately so I called Treebark right away and I had the pleasure of speaking with one of their customer representative, she made me feel very welcome over the phone and ensured that they can take care of it; as soon as possible. The work started as possible, at a time. They kill all the pests (rats) on our home. They were very articulate, professional, and knowledgeable, nice company to work with, very responsive to all your pests and termite problems.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
