I am unaware of anyone else who does what I do, so "differentiating" is a challenge. People tell me I have so many different talents and capacities to offer that it's impossible to even come up with a label for what I offer. Whether I'm managing your email, calendar, documents and photos or cooking a gourmet-quality healthy meal, I bring order to chaos and zen to clutter as a way of living. In 2012, encouraged by a wise friend, I dismantled my home of 13 years and chose to offer those talents to the world in exchange for room and board. Three years later, I have never looked back. In addition to my LA service area, I have traveled to organize and|or house|pet sit in Orange County, San Diego, Scottsdale AZ, Boston, Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard MA, Coastal NH, Long Island NY and Hershey PA. It's been quite the adventure! My writer's heart has loved every crazy minute on planes, trains, buses and keeping company with a menagerie of furry friends who love that I work at home and especially that I'm fond of walk breaks every couple of hours. :-) Currently transitioning to a very exciting opportunity to expand my professional life which requires exceptionally focused intention and consistency April 1 - August 1 to ensure success. Would love to discuss how I might bring my eclectic constellation of skills and talents to your home and do all I can to support you having the home|work|life your heart desires. If you have a quiet, private, safe place in your home or on your property in Santa Monica, Pacific Palisades, Malibu or West LA, would love to discuss how I might contribute to your life part-time in exchange, while I work through a steep learning curve and transition into my first living "base" in three years. My favorite part of the last few years has been meeting and spending time with some truly extraordinary people - especially the furry ones - who have made such an impression on my heart. Believe it or not, I've loved every minute of the crazy traveling...Amtrak through the night and cross-country red-eye flights when I was the only person awake because for the life of me, I cannot sleep sitting up....and most of all, the anonymous angels who have helped me lift the two 50lb suitcases which hold everything I own onto trains and buses, when I had no idea how I would manage it alone. (Thank you all again, wherever you are...)

  • Your Best Companion

    (38 reviews)

I am passionate about dogs and have been learning from my canine companions for my entire life. My training is based on love and a deep understanding of dog behavior and the science behind dog training. I've dedicated my entire life to becoming the best family dog trainer I can be. My approach is very personal to each dog and family I work with. Instead of focusing on a specific training method, I focus on what I call behavior balancing through the 4C's of dog training... Compassion: always keep in mind your dog is doing the learning, Clarity: your communication must be clear to your dog, Control: keep control of the environment to ensure a successful outcome, Consistency: give timely, consistent feedback until habits are formed I use super simple, very humane methods with the primary focus being your physical love and praise instead of treats (although they are used at times) and complicated training techniques used by movie and marine animal trainers. My training gets faster and superior results and it eliminates unnecessary stress other training methods can create. If you want the best relationship and training for your dog give me a call. I've seen it all and learned a thing or two that my competitors don't know over the last 40 years. If you give me your dog for 10 to 30 days I will give you back much more than a trained dog, I'll give you back a transformed dog with a balanced demeanor that will become the best dog you've ever had. I love dogs and helping people. I have an innate ability for teaching people how to understand their dog better. It's a very satisfying feeling to watch a family go from completely frustrated and at their wits end to enjoying and appreciating their dog to the fullest. To often dogs are taken to the local shelter simply for poor behavior. My goal is to help keep as many of those dogs in their homes as I can. I particularly love working with rescue dogs that have come from a troubled past. I have a special ability to address the needs of dogs that have had traumatic lives and provide for them what they need in addition to love and care to heal. I call it "behavior balancing". I also enjoy starting off new puppies and making new friends.

  • Cassidy's Pet Assistance

    (33 reviews)

Within the 1st 30mins of the 1st Session (Meet/Greet): 1) I demonstrate a technique that creates a shared 'connection' between me & the owners pet. This immediately 'opens' the pets' mind to correcting their 'own' unwanted behavior. 2) I don't leave until the owner... A) demonstrates this same technique, to ensure same behavior continues & improves once I leave. B) understands how their choice of past/future commands, actions, & surroundings contribute to their pets resulting behavior. The "Ah-Ha's!" How my communication with animals I work with helps the owners 'get to know' other messages their pet was communicating to them all along & How beautiful that new mutual connection moment that 'I' am Blessed to Share!

  • Mander's Best Friends

    (26 reviews)

I am the CEO and Founder of Mander's Best Friends and a CPR/first-Aid-certified Canine Behavior Consultant, Obedience Trainer/Instructor and independent Canine Good Citizens Evaluator and S.T.A.R. Puppy Instructor for the American Kennel Club. I offer services in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas of the San Fernando Valley. As a graduate of the nationally accredited Penn Foster Institute where I earned a diploma in Obedience Training, Instructing and Behavioral Science, I follow the school's emphasis on "The Total Dog Approach." Moreover, my methods of behavior modification training are influenced by my mentor, James O'Heare, who holds a Doctoral Certificate in Behaviorology from The International Behaviorology Institute. According to O'Heare, "Finding solutions for dealing with aggressive behaviors takes time and work... If you have been watching trainers on TV shows solve problems in half of an hour and spouting on about 'discipline' and 'dominance' or the quick-fix plan that somehow only they know, then be warned, this is not how it is done. That is entertainment pretending to be professional animal behavior consulting." I have dedicated hundreds of hours towards case studies, hands-on training and study objectives that ranged from core areas of behavior (Ethology; Communication Behavior; Genetics; and Learning Theory, such as Operant and Respondent conditioning; Counter-conditioning; Systematic Desensitization; Behavior Replacement; and Extinction) to Search-and-rescue; Trick; and Obedience, Agility and Hunting Competition training. My in-depth knowledge gained through education and actual hours of working in the field is maintained and expanded through periodic re-certification tests and continuing education. I have helped hundreds of dog owners throughout the Los Angeles and surrounding areas by treating their pets with successful results for everything from puppy issues, separation anxiety and depression to fear-elicited and goal-directed aggressive behaviors. I offer private and group classes as well as behavior management training programs tailored to each dog's individual need. These programs are designed to significantly improve the owner-dog relationship and likelihood of long-term desirable behavior. My approach is gentle and delivered with easy-to-understand guidance so that even children can participate (with parental supervision) in training sessions. With a focus on positive reinforcement, my programs zero in on breed-specific issues with consideration of the dog's age; previous training; environment; prey, pack, defense and rank drives; and any temperament faults that might have been inherited through irresponsible breeding. Most important, all of my classes include lots of encouragement, fun and exercise, so my students have a great experience and look forward to learning. I can truly communicate with dogs and have a great understanding of how different we really are, which results in a happier, healthier dog. Who wouldn't love going to work every day with everyone so happy to see them?

TRAINING: My clients see a transformation with their four legged children in the first session. I pride myself on seeing quick results because most of my clients are very busy people and need the training to be effective and without a ton of investment in time and money. FITNESS: Walks and Hikes can include tiring hikes, walks, doggie parks and running. I have a lot of experience with all breeds and personalities so you can be sure your dog will be safe and learn good manners with me. Most dog walkers will not accept untrained or aggressive dogs. I can work with you and your four legged child to correct any unwanted behavior. I do this work because I love helping people with their four legged children. I am blessed with a special gift to understand and inspire my four legged clients. You will see a transformation in your 4 legged child after one walk or training session with me. Your dog will be happier and more calm.

  • Sit Stay OK-K9 Training

    (6 reviews)

Sit Stay OK K9 Training takes a very unique approach with the way we train, and it is very simple yet very effective: we train you first! All dogs are hardwired to follow direction even the most independent of breeds but it is up to us the owners, to be sending them the right message. This is where our dedication, experience and strong understanding of dog behavior comes into play teaching you simple, positive and most importantly effective tools to train your dog. With a positive and dedicated approach anything is possible in the dog world. Believe us when we say your dog is ready and willing to learn. There is only one thing he's waiting on, and that's you! Why we are different: We have found here at Sit Stay OK K9 Training that sometimes, even the thought of trying to address, let alone eliminate, your dog's undesired behavior can be enough to make one exhausted. Often, people have no clue what to expect from in-home training lessons, or can even be hesitant due to prior experiences with past trainers. At Sit Stay OK K9 Training, we know just what you are feeling and take a very personal approach with every dog and owner we meet. At no point will you ever feel like you're in this on your own. Our number one priority is to teach you the tools that you will need to be successful from day one, and how this peaceful method of training can easily work for you and your dog. Our initial evaluation gives me a chance to see you interact with your dog in an environment you both are familiar with, as well as get an idea of your daily routine with your dog. Next, I will interview both you and your dog. 9 times out of 10 your dog will give me a better idea of what is going on and what we can do to quickly and effectively address the problem. You just might be amazed at how simple some problems can be to eliminate. Often, it is just a matter of mixed messages between the dog and their human. Our following lessons will give you the tools, knowledge and the belief that this can be done, and it can even be fun! Our training program allows you to learn how to understand your dog and how to get your dog to understand you. Allowing you to work together, instead of against each other. You will learn about how simple exercises can be added to your dog's routine to increase your chances of success and how big of a role these small tasks can play in the rehabilitation of you dog. After each lesson, you should feel a stronger and stronger sense of direction and leadership. Of course, there will be dedication and work involved on your part but more than anything we want this to be a fun educational experience for you and your dog. Training is incredibly rewarding because it really truly is up to us as owners to determine how successful our training program will be with these amazingly intelligent animals. The sky truly is the limit. Like we always say here at Sit Stay OK-K9 Training, "a dog's mind is a terrible thing to waste!" Your dog is ready and willing to learn. There is only one thing he's waiting on, and that's you!

  • Pawsitive Walks

We teach dogs how to live peacefully with their owners and integrate into their lives. Want to take your dog to a cafe and have them behave? We teach that by working on your dog's state of mind while also teaching commands. It won't matter if your dog knows how to sit, if (s)he doesn't know how to relax and hold that position while you eat out, answer the door, go into a store, or take them on a walk. Most trainers only teach commands - sit, down, stay, etc. We teach you how to communicate what you want to your dog, teach your dog what you are asking, and help your dog be in the right state of mind to meet your request. Our dog walking services reinforce all the the training that we do - our dogs don't pull on leash, bark at other dogs or destroy property. They get exercise, mental stimulation and have a lot of fun. I love getting to help people have the relationship that they dream of with their pet. Taking away a family's stress, anxiety, and frustration are extremely rewarding.
