Ira is such a blessing! He really cares about his clients and goes out of his way by providing the best service. He works weekends, and you can call him anytime you need to talk. I have been to other therapists and none even come close to Ira.

My teenage daughter had been having trouble with anxiety and OCD tendencies. After having met with Cristi, both issues have diminished greatly. My daughter actually enjoys going to Cristi to help her with strategies to deal with her issues and sees Cristi not only as her therapist, but as a trusted friend. Cristi also values my input as to concerns about my daughter's well-being and helps me to better understand the struggles my daughter faces. I highly recommend Cristi for anyone who is seeking a caring, compassionate, knowledgeable, and experienced therapist for themselves or a loved one.

I personally did not meet with JD, but made an appointment for a family member. I don't have the words to express my feeling for how great JD is. He helped my family member in a way that has and will change his life for the better. He took the time to understand him and his problems, and guided him in such a humble and wise manner. And this was just in one sitting, It's truly amazing !!!! He is a good soul who isn't powered by money...he just wants to help. Other therapist that we have seen, are geared by money, time, prorated rates if you go over their time. But not in this case, GOD BLESS you always, and we will be grateful to you always.

I was referred to Dr. Hunter Jones by a conventional therapist to help me deal with a range of issues connected with sexuality, self-image, and emotional recovery from the effects of prostate surgery. Her unique combination of psychological insight, empathy, experience, and creativity energy helped me transcend unconscious roadblocks that were holding me back from living a full, generous, and loving life. I will always be indebted to Dr. Hunter Jones for helping me to see myself in a more positive light.

Rob was Great to work with. He has a relaxed manner about him that made him really easy to talk to. I've now used his services a few times and when I saw him on Thumbtack while seeing what they have to offer, I knew I had to write a review. Now that I am no longer in LA,I've actually called and he was able to help me out still because he remembered me. It was like I'd just seen him last week. He is a Great coach and I would see him as a therapist too if the need arouse.

Found Deb through an online search for a massage therapist to destress my body after a 2 day intense marketing seminar. I found Deb's demeanor to put at ease and after a 2 hour session my body was refreshed and energized for the return air flight to MD. Never have I experienced a massage therapist with a such a gentle yet attentive focus. Scheduling a session with Deb is a must if you are looking for a renergized body, mind and spirit.

Finding a therapist can often be a difficult task, but I would recommend Stacey to absolutely anyone. She is compassionate, calm and very skilled in what she does. Her desire to help is reflected in her approach to conversations. She conducts herself in a professional manner, but has an innate ability to connect to people. My advice is to call Stacey today and get started on the path to understanding and appreciating yourself.

Plinio was an amazing instructor. And the Breakthrough Parenting course was spot on. The "One on One" instruction was perfect for me and there was no question, issue, scenario etc. that Plinio couldn't handle. Best prep for a single Dad. Would totally recommend any first time or experienced parent to take the course so you have a better foundation to be a parent and raise a happy, healthy and well adjusted child.

          About

Sometimes, life just doesn't go the way we want. Too often, we find ourselves stuck in a bad place, leaving us hurt, lonely, angry or depressed, just plain out of control. Why is it that we do the things we don’t want to do, and we don’t do the things that we know are good for us? I provide a confidential, non-judgmental place to re-engineer your life. I will strive to help you experience growth from the pain of life and empower you to move forward, better able to face the inevitable problems that come your way. I look forward to the opportunity to partner with you, to help you clarify what you want from your life and how to go about getting it. My primary area of interest is in working with couples, although I do work with individuals also. This includes pre-marital counseling, communication difficulties, recovery from affairs and sex addiction, and parenting together after divorce. In 2011, I've completed a certification in sex addiction therapy (CSAT®) through Patrick Carnes. The CSAT® program is fast becoming the industry's standard certification for all therapists who are working with individuals who suffer from addictive and compulsive sexual behaviors. I've received a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Azusa Pacific University and am a marriage and family-therapist-registered intern (IMF#64851) under the supervision of Curtis Miller, Psy.D., D. Min, MFT#31636. I am trained to use the prepare/enrich inventories, which is a comprehensive couple assessment tool for pre-marital counseling.

            About

As a licensed family and marriage therapist, Robert C. Jameson concentrates on assisting clients in understanding and overcoming issues, like limiting beliefs, boundaries, relationships, love, anxiety, depression, hurt and anger, to name a few. During his years of private practice, Mr. Jameson discovered it is beneficial to provide many of his clients "homework" in the form of handouts, to aid their work while in session. The Keys to Joy-Filled Living was created from his handouts of tested and proven exercises and methods.

            What is a psychologist?

A psychologist is a professionally trained mental health professional who helps patients navigate challenging life situations or mental health issues. To become a psychologist you must earn a doctoral degree; qualifying degrees include a Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D. To actively practice, a psychologist must be licensed in their state and maintain good standing. Psychologists are trained to administer tests that can evaluate a patient’s cognitive strength and weaknesses, intellectual skills, vocational aptitude and preference, personality characteristics, and neuropsychological functioning, explains the American Psychological Association (APA).

A psychologist meets with patients in an office and may work with a variety of methods, depending on patient need, such as cognitive, behavioral or interpersonal.  According to the APA, common reasons a person may visit a psychologist include:

            • Dealing with depression, anger or anxiety over a long period of time.
            • Help with a chronic condition that is interfering with their lives or physical health.
            • Help with grieving and other abrupt transitions.
            • Overcoming addictions.
            • Managing chronic illness.
            • Breaking old and harmful patterns of thinking or behavior.

What are the types of psychologists?

Psychologists are healthcare professionals who use scientific methods to understand the relationships between the brain, environment and behavior. Psychologists may focus on research — studying how the brain and various environments drive behaviors to better understand the issues that trouble patients and society as a whole — or they may focus on practice — interacting with people using therapeutic methods. The American Psychological Association shares some of the more prevalent types of psychologists:

            • Clinical psychologists assess and treat mental, emotional and behavioral disorders.
            • Cognitive and perceptual psychologists study human perception, thinking and memory.
            • Community psychologists work to strengthen the abilities of communities, settings, organizations and broader social systems to meet people’s needs — such as improving support for victims of natural disasters, or working to improve health policies.
            • Counseling psychologists help people understand and take action on everyday issues, career and work problems, and serious adversity.
            • Developmental psychologists study the psychological development of the human being throughout life.
            • Educational psychologists concentrate on how effective teaching and learning take place.
            • Engineering psychologists conduct research on how people work best with machines.
            • Environmental psychologists study the dynamics of how people interact with their environments.
            • Evolutionary psychologists study how evolutionary principles such as mutation, adaptation and selective fitness influence human thought, feeling and behavior.
            • Experimental psychologists study cognitive processes, comparative psychology (cross-species comparisons), and learning and conditioning.
            • Forensic psychologists apply psychological principles to legal issues.
            • Health psychologists specialize in how biological, psychological and social factors affect health and illness.
            • Industrial/organizational psychologists apply psychological principles and research methods to the workplace to improve productivity, health and the quality of work life.
            • Neuropsychologists and behavioral neuropsychologists explore the relationships between brain systems and behavior.
            • Quantitative and measurement psychologists focus on methods and techniques for designing experiments and analyzing psychological data.
            • Rehabilitation psychologists work with stroke and accident victims, people with mental disabilities, and those with developmental disabilities caused by such conditions as cerebral palsy, epilepsy and autism.
            • School psychologists assess and counsel students, consult with parents and school staff, and conduct behavioral interventions when appropriate.
            • Social psychologists study how a person’s mental life and behavior are shaped by interactions with other people.
            • Sport psychologists help athletes refine their focus on competition goals, become more motivated, and learn to deal with anxiety and fear of failure around competition.

            How much do therapists cost?

If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists. Depending on your diagnosis, your health insurance may cover your therapy costs.

Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
