Michelle is a warm and inviting person who made me feel comfortable very quickly. She has been a great mentor and helped me overcome many obstacles in the aftermath of a serious life event I experienced. I felt I could be me without any concern for fear of how she may react. I have done traditional therapy but have preferred her holistic approach to combining therapy with a goal oriented approach to solving problems one may be experiencing. I have been able to get to a much better place in my life thanks to her support and the perspective she helps me obtain through self reflection. She encourages you just enough to help you push past your self-set limits without ever feeling like she is pushing you past your boundaries. Somehow, I always get to the realization I need on my own terms but with the help of her encouragement. My 8 year old suffered from terrible separation anxiety. So bad that she couldn't go to school. It was heartbreaking and we tried different types of therapy and then I found dr John. He was very helpful and informative, we talked on the phone a couple of times before our meeting.My daughter felt safe with him right away and the hypnotherapy session was amazing. After one session she was back to herself! I'm so thankful for Dr John McCrail, he's the best!

Best trainer I've ever worked with. Sees each body as it's own unique self... Starts at the beginning with stability and mobility creating a strong foundation. I am very happy with the services that I received from Dr. Murray S. Kaufman. The first time that I visited him I literally was a mess. I was dealing with IBS, and the condition was killing me because I didn't know how to live with it. I went to see Dr. Kaufman with the intention to receive a hypnosis protocol for IBS. I started the protocol; however, the doctor realized that I was suffering from anxiety disorder that was making the IBS flare up, and I started a therapy to work on that. Dr. Kaufman helped me to find the roots of my anxiety and how to deal with them. Every session was very productive, and I learned a lot about myself and dealing with my conditions. Now, I am in a much better place in life, and so thankful to Dr. Kaufman, because he helped me to overcome one of the darkest moments of my life. He is very knowledgeable, dedicated and professional. I came to Oliver at Verbal Ninja ahead of a big speech that had career and even life changing potential. I was speaking to a large group of fellow doctors, several of whom were what you might call “celebrity doctors.” Frankly, I wanted to upstage them. I myself have an acting background but have always had a lot of stage fright for public speaking. I worked with Oliver over the month leading up to the big event. I knew what I wanted to say, just not quite how to say it. He made my words sound like nothing I’ve ever heard before—yes, that good. Yet it still sounded like me…I felt comfortable and spontaneous. He sort of gave me the voice that I always thought I had inside, if that makes any sense. He also coached my delivery, voice, gestures, movement, eye contact, etc. etc. His tricks to conquer stage fright—especially the psychological aspect—are brilliant. The result? I think I killed it that night. Even my billionaire friend who came to see me said I spoke better than a lot of people he sees that speak on a regular basis. Even the owner of the company had this to say: “Thanks for everything, the event was great and we were very happy that you gave that speech, it was amazing! Not only the way you presented (like an actor) but also the content was very emotional, some tears were shed from Melissa.“ People came up to me afterwards and shared how I changed their view on aesthetics and really motivated them. All the “famous doctors” who spoke alongside me on the panel were super impressed as well. In short, Oliver came to me highly recommended. He leaves me even more highly recommended. If the stakes are high, he’s the guy.

AG is a relationship expert! I personally trust no one else with my sensitive topics about love and communication. Coaching is NOT therapy and Coach AG does a wonderful job at defining the two. As time went by and the injuries mounted from being a former athlete, my total body seemed a mere shadow of what it was. Naturally as a former athlete, I always thought it would be easy for me to shed pounds and then get back into shape. I was never more wrong about anything and I can thank Ms. Fitzgerald for all of it. After putting myself completely in her hands and care, the fog of dieting and eating was lifted as she helped me find the root of the problem which was the space between my ears! After time and her encouragement I was able to do things I never thought I would be doing again and after multiple surgeries, broken bones and repaired ligaments, I can never thank her enough. Her approach was all encompassing and, not to sound dramatic, a path of self discovery where body, mind and health all integrated to get me where I am now....... Healthier, more active and happier. I rarely trust anyone...... but I trust her with my personal health and would recommend anyone to do the same...... I have 93 pounds lost to prove it!

When I went in for my appointment with Choury, I had mixed emotions. I was excited about what changes could be made but I was also nervous that it wouldn’t work. I’m a stressed out student and I had a huge exam coming up…I really needed this to calm me down and give me instant recall of information since part of my exam was timed. In the past, I had severe test anxiety so I would go in to take an exam and if my mind was racing too much and my emotions were running high, on parts of the exam I would literally blank. It was awful! Which brings me back to my appointment with Choury… Sitting in his presence put me at ease right away and any nervousness I’d had going in, simply vanished. When he started our session, the sound of his voice drifted me into a calm, comforting place where I felt safe…a place to tap into if I should ever feel I needed to revisit. Choury gave me a tool to use to remind me of that safe, calm feeling…a tool to use when taking exams. I did exactly that for my exam and I’m proud to say that it worked and I passed it with flying colors! I remained calm throughout the test and had instant recall of all information, exactly what he was working with me on. Choury, I can’t thank you enough for all that you’ve done and anyone that’s lucky enough to find you as their hypnotherapist will quickly know how amazing you are! What is a psychologist?

A psychologist is a professionally trained mental health professional who helps patients navigate challenging life situations or mental health issues. To become a psychologist you must earn a doctoral degree; qualifying degrees include a Ph.D., Psy.D. or Ed.D. To actively practice, a psychologist must be licensed in their state and maintain good standing. Psychologists are trained to administer tests that can evaluate a patient’s cognitive strength and weaknesses, intellectual skills, vocational aptitude and preference, personality characteristics, and neuropsychological functioning, explains the American Psychological Association (APA).

A psychologist meets with patients in an office and may work with a variety of methods, depending on patient need, such as cognitive, behavioral or interpersonal.  According to the APA, common reasons a person may visit a psychologist include:

How much do therapists cost?

If you are experiencing a challenging time, have mental health difficulties, or just want professional guidance as you move through life, a therapist can provide relief, tools and structure. The national average cost for a therapist is $80-$100 per hour, although prices may be higher or lower depending on geographic location and the experience and training of the therapist.

Psychiatrists, psychologists and licensed therapists are all health professionals who offer various modalities of therapy. Ask questions about the type of therapy they specialize in (such as cognitive or behavioral, etc.) and their area of expertise (such as grief, anxiety, body image disorders, etc.) to help you find the right fit for your needs. Therapy sessions are typically 50-60 minutes long.  The patient usually meets with the therapist in their office; sessions may also be held remotely (via Skype, etc.) or in a clinical setting. Psychologists, psychiatrists and other therapists who have earned advanced degrees will typically charge higher rates than other licensed therapists. Depending on your diagnosis, your health insurance may cover your therapy costs.

Can a clinical psychologist write prescriptions?

To be able to write a prescription, a clinical psychologist must practice in a state that permits them to do so, and must either have a master’s degree in psychopharmacology or have completed the required advanced training program. According to the American Psychological Association (APA), five states currently permit psychologists to write prescriptions: Idaho, New Mexico, Illinois, Iowa and Louisiana. Many psychologists who are not able to write prescriptions work in partnership with psychiatrists, pediatricians or primary care doctors to help their patients who need medication.
