I would like to share my reviews about our Mandarin teacher Lillian. Lillian has been helping my boys with their Mandarin lessons for over 2 years now. I have one word for her - she is excellent. Some of the key things that I would like to point out - she is always punctual, has a great lesson plan; we are not native speakers, but my boys are quite engaged and motivated to learn Chinese, and this is primarily due to Lillian's lesson structure, her energy, her caring attitude. Her lessons include practical conversations, in addition to developing writing skills. We strongly recommend Lillian if you need help with learning Mandarin.

Dennis provided a well-designed and thoughtful presentation; it was based off of my introductory message that contains what I desired the most - to be certified by taking a course by 2020. She informed me about the various exams (HSK, OPI, etc.) that I could take and how I should get there from this point of time to my target goal. Afterwards, we dived right into our lesson - listening and speaking in Mandarin. She also provides other online tools to help me. She speaks clearly in both Mandarin and English. Definitely, take a lesson with her.

I have been learning Mandarin for about 1.5 years. During that time I have gone through many teachers trying to find the right match. Some weren't as engaged to teaching as I would like, some had teaching practices that weren't good for my style of learning, others did not have the patience I needed. Angela is the most patient, positive and engaged teacher I have met and I really enjoy my classes with her. Angela always gives positive reinforcement and encouragement, is very energetic and caring. She patiently answers all of my questions and will spend time getting my pronunciation right no matter how long it takes. Most importantly she pushes me to converse in Mandarin frequently, a quality that I have found rare in other teachers. This is extra important to me for helping my confidence using it outside of class. I highly recommend her as a teacher for anyone learning Mandarin.

Zephyr Tutoring is excellent. I would highly recommend to anyone who is in need of tutoring in the subjects of Algebra and Mandarin. I have three children who worked with her. My two older students benefited from both Algebra and Mandarin tutoring and one of my students has entered college and exempted his foreign language requirement. Tutoring is not just for a student who is struggling, but also for the student who is unmotivated and needs to be encouraged. A tutor is also a mentor and someone to look up to for guidance in life, not just academics. For the motivated student, a tutor gives the extra edge to challenge the student beyond what a teacher would require. We found that in Zephyr Tutoring. I hope you give it a try!

In the beginning, I was really afraid of talking to others in English because I know that I can’t speak English well. However, after some lessons, I become more and more confident and fell in love with the lessons. I tried speaking to others and they answered me. This greatly encouraged me.

I am a native Mandarin Chinese Speaker who loves teaching, exploring different fields, and making friends. I was born and raised in Taiwan, and live in Northern California currently. I have a bachelor degree in Taiwan, and a master degree from Rossier School of Education, USC. Before the class, I will have a brief telephone session with you to ensure we are the right fit. After assessing your current Mandarin proficiency level, I will design suitable curriculum and materials for your needs and interests.
