Jami did the videography for our wedding at Castle Green in 2008. She was WONDERFUL! In fact, I had decided not to do videography at the wedding after reviewing a number of terrible, cheesy video samples, but then I found Jami. Her work is classy, tasteful, and timeless. She captured every special moment of the day. My whole family loves Jami's work -- my dad is actually the most obsessed with it and watched the video a bunch of times after the wedding. We watch the video instead of going through the photographs because it brings us back to the day instantly. Although, I will also add that Jami did give us a number of still images from her video work that are also beautiful and artistic. One other thing worth mentioning is that she was very professional onsite while shooting and didn't get in everyone's faces to get her shots. She was there, but she was discreet and still managed to capture beautiful images. My sister is getting married this spring and is going to have Jami video her wedding. I cannot recommend Jami more highly. Trust me, Jami's video will be your favorite keepsake!

Anita and Chris were the most AMAZING photographers for our wedding! They knew exactly what we wanted, they got all the photos on our check list, and they were very reasonable and honest about the time frame we had. Our wedding location was also on their bucket list, so being able to have them there was extra special. The photos turned out amazingly spectacular! I hope to work with them again in the future (maybe a maternity shoot?)

We loved our package! Mark is the sweetest and made me and my entire family cry after we viewed our wedding teaser because it was so beautiful. It was a great gift to the family members who were not able to make the wedding. My wedding video teaser was everything i was looking for and I highly recommend Marabate Studios and can't wait to work with Mark again.

We had Daniella Hovsepian as our wedding videographer for our wedding in early October in San Diego. We were impressed with the clips that she provided and she was very very easy to work with and super responsive. We waited too long to line up a videographer - but luckily we found Daniella through Thumbtack just a few weeks before the wedding - and she was available. Her prices were very reasonable, especially considering that it involved a long drive to get to our wedding. Once she was onsite - she seemed to fit effortlessly in alongside the other wedding vendors - coordinator, photographer, caterers, etc. - and needed very little guidance from me or anyone else to do her work. It was nice to have someone who so easily navigated a rather intimate gathering (our wedding was about 65 guests), and on her own intuition, captured so many nice personal moments for us. It was thrilling for us to look through the video. We were on a tight budget so didn't have her do a highlights trailer - but if you have the option highly suggest doing this! Her smile and pleasant demeanor show that she really enjoys what she's doing - and I could tell that helped people open up and just go on about their business while she did her filming, so she was able to capture some candid moments. Added bonus - she delivered the videos quickly!

Art and Doreen did a phenomenal job on our wedding video. They went approve and beyond to make sure they captured moments from Me and my husband. Also, making sure I approve the video before the final product. The time they spent to create the video shows that they love what they do. I couldn't have ask for a better videographer. The price was Great! It fit right in with my budget. They were very polite and interact well with our guest. If you are looking for a very fun couple to film your special Wedding Day. I would recommend DigitalView42. I am glad that I chose DigitalView42 for my wedding. Thanks for everything.

How do I even put into words what a magnificent, professional, accomodating and overall brilliantly talented photographer Lorenzo Cuevas is. My husband Greg and I were married Labor day of 2012 and were in desperate need of a reliable and trustworthy photographer. Lorenzo was not a wedding photographer then but happily accepted our offer to become one. He came all the way with us to Las Vegas and went above and beyond. He made us feel so comfortable beginning with us getting ready and all the way until we crossed the threshold of our suite as husband and wife. Lorenzo was impressive in the time it took to get us our photos and we were so overjoyed with the result of his hard work. We are so happy that Lorenzo was able to capture the beautiful moments of our special day and will keep him in our lives to capture many more.

My wife and I just got married 9/8/17 and could not be happier with our wedding video. Meena (Sohi Productions) captured every special moment of our day. I barely even knew she was there. Let me say that she was there from start to end and for my wife and I we thought the day just flew by. At the end I was just getting ready to party and it was over that's what happens when you are the ones getting married but the video she produced let's me live the best day of our lives over and over. I could honestly say this video could not have been made better it is just perfect!!! It is so worth it to get Meena to capture anyone's special day weather it's a wedding, b day, you name it she will take care of you 100%. She is fun, energetic, creative, and just very talented. She absalutely has a passion for it for sure. I would hire Meena again and plan to in future events. If you are thinking money, or negotiating with yourself on if it's worth it let me tell you YES it is. I have watched out video like 200 times seriously and I get lost in my wife and I love story. The way she captured us looking at eachother in moments I didn't even know she was filming, to see the love I have for my wife and to see the video is just a reminder on the best decision I've ever made. Thank you Meena you are not only someone we met for business but you are apart of our love story and now can call you a friend. You did an amazing job and we couldn't be happier. You are a professional at heart.!! If you want to see how amazing her video was check out our wedding on YouTube (Andino wedding). Be prepared to be blown away... 100% referring Sohi Productions.

I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about Just Love Films. From their positive attitude and professionalism to their stunning talent, I could not have chosen a more wonderful videographer. Our wedding day was stressful from the start, but as soon as Just Love Films got there and started filming video I felt like things were falling into place. I was already assured of Just Love Films considerable talent after seeing videos on their website, which I loved! But when I got the highlights video I was brought to tears. They managed to capture not only the best moments, but the spirit and energy of the best day of my life! Thank you

I hired Tibor for a concert. I asked him to be there about 30 minutes before our performance time to set up. Tibor got there 2 hrs before showtime to make sure he did proper sound checks and talk to the venue to best set up for the best footage. Let me tell you all, the man is Amazing!!! He provided us amazing footage of our show. Couldn't be happier! Tibor is also extremely pleasant to work with; very accommodating. He makes sure he will give you what you expected to capture. I interviewed probably 15-20 videographers. Yes, I am picky! So I say with confidence, do not hesitate to use Tibor's services…You Will Be Pleased!!!

Luis and Dark Film Productions was hands down the best decision we made to hire for our wedding video. He exceeded our expectations and over delivered in value. He was very prompt and kind talking to him on the phone, and was very clear on communicating what he wanted to do for us. You can really tell that he enjoys what he does because we saw how much joy doing this gives him. He was super professional during the filming of our wedding and hardly noticed he was there! His crew was super friendly and just as much part of the wedding as anyone else! When receiving the finished product he surprised us with so many moments that we didn’t see or remember! We watched the video 6x already! The editing process was very prompt and they accommodated is very well. They added things that we wanted, and the music we wanted and specific moments. And brilliantly put them all together in a video that we will never forget and will cherish. Luis, you captured the awesome moments in our wedding, and laughter and tears, my beautiful wife and how stunning she was that day and IS, and most importantly the joy on our faces on that beautiful day of our union. We can’t thank you enough for your work you’ve done for us, and would recommend Luis and Dark Film Production in a heart beat to anyone who wants an awesome experience.

I interviewed 5 or 6 videographers and I felt like I was speaking a foreign language no one could capture my vision entirely. A friend had gone to a wedding a few months before and was raving about the finished product and the company who did the work. I immediately contacted LA Artist and I kid you not the lady who took my call caught my vision - granted in bits and pieces but that was enough for me. I met with the team from LA Artist and as the name says, they began to sketch out my vision on paper and after a 2hr. meeting which seemed more like 30mins, because we were brainstorming and having such fun. I walked out having signed a contract and more then anything piece of mind! If you are looking for the best in LA they are the real deal, they stayed within my budget and actually below because things I thought I needed they showed me how to get the professional and polished look I wanted without up selling me, and that I appreciated. So again LA Artist, don’t waste your time “shopping” around go directly to the Artist themselves. Signed, Satisfied and Returning Customer

Jay and his team did such an awesome job filming our wedding. He met with us before hand to get to know us a bit and show us some of his work. We loved his work and decided to have him film our wedding. Jay did such a wonderful job. He was kind, professional, and you we could tell he really enjoys his work. We received our video a few weeks ago and I love watching it! It takes me back to that day and I'm so thankful Jay captured all the joy and love from our wedding. I would highly recommend Jay for any film needs. Thank you Jay!

At the last minute we decided that we wanted a videographer for our wedding. We checked out a few different choices, but liked Sara’s softer cinematic feel vs others’ harder documentary formats. She met us a couple days later (one week before the wedding!) to finalize details. Easy as that! Well at least that’s what Sara thought. She was on her way to the hotel for some pre-ceremony pictures when we re-directed her to the church because the bride was running super-late. She took it in stride, found the groomsmen and proceeded to set-up. Not all the wedding party was present for much of the time so she improvised along the way to somehow get everything she needed. Pretty amazing considering the constant confusion that surrounded the entire affair. We had contracted with another photographer months before we decided we also wanted a videographer. The lead photographer had a very strong personality and basically seized control of the picture-taking process. Frankly, I was a little worried there might be some friction as they moved for positioning on every shot. But Sara was the ultimate professional! I watched as she slid in and out of sight for her shots, never once ruffling the feathers of the photographer. There were even times when she had the better position and it was humorous to see the photographer leaning over her shoulder to get his shot. She was so quiet, but always seemed to be everywhere – kind of like a video Ninja. The only thing I thought I would have changed was that she asked me to say something on audio to my bride. I’m not the most spontaneous guy and I feel like I could have done better. But everyone I’ve talked to says that Sara was right and my unplanned utterances were more from the heart and better than anything I could have prepared. Now I’m not saying I was wrong…let’s just say Sara got it right. :) We would not hesitate to use Sara again for any photo or video project. She was a pleasure to work with and we can’t wait to see the finished video. I’m certain we will appreciate her talents even more as we view it for the 50th time with the relatives!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

    • Package 1: $1,400
      • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
      • Two cameras with audio equipment.
      • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
      • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
    • Package 2: $1,800
      • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
