I hired Casiano's to replace my kitchen faucet. The faucet was making noise and then water spray got clocked. I had already purchased a replacement faucet that was recommended by my HOA, so I just needed someone to come and replace it. I wasn't able to be present, but my renters liked that setup was friendly and professional. When I arrived to inspect the work, I found everything as good as new. I also appreciated Casiano's flexibility to accept payment via PayPal. This allowed me to not bother my renters with payments, inspect the work afterwards and pay without scheduling further visits.

Matthew was so great to work with. He installed a butcher block countertop over my washer/dryer, (which had some complexities to it), hung some floating shelves, installed window hardware, etc. He has a good eye for detail, let's you know what his approach to a solution will be before doing it so you can be involved in the process, and he does a great job! I would definitely hire him again!

I needed to have my doorbell hard wired as well as some ethernet and coaxial cable run from my media closet to the garage. This project was going to involve a number of cuts into the walls. My house was newly renovated in 2016 so I was reluctant to cut into the walls of such a new home. However, when the job was done I was glad I did it. The quality of the work was fantastic. You can’t even tell where the cuts were made and patched. They always got back to my texts promptly and to the job done on schedule. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to friends and family.

Jose was responsive and arrived on time to give an estimate for replacing gutters for our entire home. Work was completed within 4 days and they cleaned up / hauled away. We had asked Jose for an additional quote on the 2nd day to install gutter guards while he was already doing the work but he didn't provide the quote until after the job was completed. And there was one downspout that was not included in our original quote, which I was not aware of until we realized it had not been replaced, so we had to add it on at the end. Overall, we are satisfied with the work and value of Jose's services.

Vyron did a great job installing a new back door for us. We had a few issues with the door that were not his fault (the supplier was at fault!) and he did everything he could to fix the issues. We are happy with the work he did.

Exceptional responsiveness to questions prior to job. I appreciated the confirmation note the day before and recommendations on paint. They painted one room and an accent wall. Both workers did a great job of protecting floors and the window/door trim. Job was completed in a timely manner with professional conduct during the entire job. Would definitely hire them again and highly recommend them to others.

I hired Jasper from My Apartment Is Better Than Yours. I think they did a terrific job at a very reasonable price. I'm really pleased that I decided to go with them. I had a number of unusual carpentry tasks to complete when I moved to my new place. The windows were old and the wood was irregular and moldy, so the wood around the antique glass panels needed to be replaced. I was told those windows hadn't been opened in 40 years, but now they work perfectly and you'd never know the wood wasn't original. Also, several doorways lacked doors when I moved in, and were unusual rounded shapes cut into the stucco without doorframes. Jasper was able to make me custom doors with antique iron-wrought handles, and they look awesome. I also needed threshholds worked on, cabinets put up, new benches made for my roof deck, a custom projector and screen put in, antique chandeliers installed, a lock repaired... and I'm probably forgetting one or two things. They are in the process of putting the finishing touches on my humidor (they had to build me custom legs for it), and it's going to look spectacular. Anyway, they knocked it all out of the park. They were prompt and clean and didn't cause much of a disturbance despite all the work they were doing. They'll be my go-to for anything I need done in the future. I definitely recommend them.

Melki was excellent with his service. He arranged his installation time based on my schedule, not his. He answered all questions I had about the windows and the installation process. Upon installation day, he went to pick up the windows from the supplier, worked diligently with his helper to get them all installed correctly and efficiently. He even went above and beyond by looking after a few other issues around the house not related to windows at all! All in all, I would highly recommend Jose for all your window needs.

One of my windows was leaking and I wasn't sure if I would need to replace the entire window or just needed to get it fixed. After taking a look on the outside, he recommended caulking the window to see if that would work first. He also recommended caulking the sliding glass door and another window that was next the to leaking window for prevention. The price he charged me was the price he quoted. He was really nice and I would call him back as well as recommend him for any handyman needs.

Good Value, High Quality, Efficient Work. We recently bought a house and called on Lifetime Remodeling to help us with a kitchen remodel and replacing the old roof. My wife and I are inevitably more difficult as clients than your average homeowner is, but we could not have been more impressed with Lifetime Remodeling. Firstly, their pricing knocked the competition out of the park, and the completeness and detail in their proposal and scope of work is like nothing I've seen before from contractors . As a home owner we were initially wary of having an additional external project manager on site, but Samuel and Matan from Lifetime Remodeling are absolutely fantastic: knowledgeable, reliable, resourceful and respectful of our role to design the project. The work itself was performed to a really high standard: the crew were excellently coordinated by Frank the foreman; they came when they were supposed to; and were clean and tidy. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending them to others.

Very professional company that quickly replaced my cracked window. They were on time for the estimate as well as for the actual window replacement. I’d recommend them again to anyone who needs a glass expert.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
